I'm an avid listener of Ustadji's vocals,( but with all respect to him) Kishore Kumar in this song is unsurpassed till date.

@@avishekroychowdhury347 This is always a problem when classical singers sing Bollywood songs. I felt the same about Parveen Sultana singing Hume Tumse Pyar Kitna vs the Kishore version which was full of emotional richness. Some songs are just best left alone. I would not listen to a Kishore Kumar rendition of Bhavani Dayani (a Bhairavi popularly sung by Parveen Sultana), if there ever was one.
How do you know that nobody could have surpassed Kishore Kumar. Kishore Kumar himself recorded after Lata Mangeshkar so that he could listen to her rendition and try to be better. Kasmen Wade Pyaar Wafa Saab came to Manna Dey when Kishore Kumar refused to sing for Pran and what a rendition given by Manna Dey! Lata Mangeshkar was so moved when she first listened to the song that she cancelled her recordings on that day. Even Kishore Kumar later regretted of refusing the song but commented that Mannada bahoot behatarin gaya. Somebody is comparing Humme Tumse pyar kitna by Parveen Sultana with that of Kishore Kumar forgetting that both the versions are different as the Parveen’s rendition was a classical bandish whereas Kishore Kumar’s version was in popular format. Though Kishore Kumar nailed it perfectly and it was one of his best rendered songs. So it is better not to use superlative for any artist in comparison to others because sometimes the market decides who will get the better compositions to render. If it was Mohd. Rafi in 50s and 60s, it was Kishore Kumar in 70s onwards. But all were greats in their own right and nobody was superior or inferior to each other.
Why do you need any music when Ustaadji is singing. He is just amazing.

Very emotional and moving the instrumental was exceptional.
With all due respect to both of you, and also my extreme gratitude to ustad ji , my sincere request some songs r immortal and it is in our mind , body and soul due to creation , lyrics, and the rendition of the singer. In this case THE BOSS KISHORE KUMAR, THE ONE AND ONLY ONE RD , created a masterpiece , overlapping that and doing experiment with the song sometimes become unhealthy....It is totally my own perception

Ustad in his craft - the genre of Hindustani vocals is a towering personality. One of the best of our generation. Let us be honest this is a pure semi classical Hindi cinema song sung fairly well but lacking in emotional appeal. Without making any comparison to Kishore and judging it purely by the rendition and the composition of the song.
The melancholy and mood of Kishore da is just at a different level. His numbers cant be outdone by God himself🙏🙏 No disrespect to Ustaad Rashid Khan, who is a genius in his own right.

Just for the record since no one mentioned in the credits - this song was composed by maestro RD BURMAN.
Tabla accompaniment is not up to the mark Rashid ji's performance suffered due to this. HE has tremendous potentiality,it could have been far better but for tabla. Unfortunate!

Everybody is comparing between Kishore Kumar's studio recorded version with Ustadji's live version which is wrong.
Arijit Singh and Ustad Rashid Khan have similar voices.
Ustad ji ko Lata version gaani chhahiye thi... yeh kishore version hy jo k great pancham da ne aasan aur awami banaya hai..

It's not a child's play to redress compositions of Maestros like Salil Chowdhury, Panchamda. One should not try to mess with these unsurpassable classics. This rendition will remain as a burning example of how to ruin a masterpiece

Ustaad Rashid Khan is an efficient opening batsman. Kishore middle order. Both are great masters. Classical music is elitist and film songs not for common public alone either

I don't have the minimum knowledge of music, but I don't know why tabla seems not in taal in my ears.
If RD Burman had to incorporate the classical version he would have taken help of many classical singers, which he didn't do instead he asked Kishore Kumar to record it. The song is based on Shivaranjani raaga. Kishore Kumar took work break for almost one week and practiced it before recording the song. Kishore Kumar was not a typical so called classical singer. Infact he hardly learnt music. But man the way he sung this song no one is close to him.
You don't require classical touches, murkiyas in every song. Ustaad Rashid Khan is a great singer but this version is really not upto the mark.
This is not at all an easy song to sing. Ustadji has skipped the long sustained "meends", no idea why. Lack of breath maybe. Kishore Kumar's singing was beyond all the 'Ustad's' Ustadis'. That's why he is called a legend. The 'Theherao', the straight notes predominant in this creation of great Panchamda is completely missing in Ustadji's rendition. I'm sorry to say!
