      @MUFC because soccer is quite easy to follow as a sport, it's quite a straight forward game in retrospect and audience's have an easier time to assimilate their abilities to the game.
      Where as sports like basketball, rugby, American football, hockey, MMA etc have a smaller audience because the average viewer can't assimilate their skills in such sports as it has a higher learning curve, thus on a psychology level, there won't be as much interest to the audience.

      @MUFC soccer is that popular? Remind me again why michael jordan is the richest athlete of all time? Ronaldo and messi's net worth didnt even reach half that of MJ. If you say soccer is so popular in more than 240 countries, why does jordan become more rich every year even though he is retired. Shouldnt ronaldo and messi be more richer since more people knows them in those 240 countries? More popularity means more brand endorsements right? But why MJ still richer? i'll tell you why, because basketball is more popular than soccer. 😂

    People don't know that, by the numbers, Jeremy Lin is one of the most prolific and effective drivers in the NBA. He's top 20 in both drives per game and PPP (points per possession) on drives. The Rockets definitely knew what they were getting when they signed him.

    he responded perfectly. That is some real bball. He din't try to andone mixtape him, or posterize him back. It was all within good team ball. He played good defence, passed the ball and of course scored when he needed to. Ultimately, you can say he got posterized but u cant call him a loser. And that is what ball is about.

      Lin's one of the smartest thinking players and has an intense skill set when he's healthy. Being Asian he's always been more likely to be overlooked/marginalized. One of the truly great nba stories and most unique stories for sure. Should be a hall of famer for that aspect. I can't figure your first sentence out :-)...

    If you are Asian and good enough you can break in. It doesn't have anything to do with being asian, YOU HAVE TO BE GOOD ENOUGH. Linn is not underated or overated he is just an average "NBA" vet. Do you know how good you have to be to be an average nba vet.

    • @damiester1
      @damiester1 9 ปีที่แล้ว +44

      DALE GOLDSTON Well, he's surely underrated with the Lakers. The amount of playing time he has had didn't make sense. The guy was more valued in a packed Houston team.

    • @bryantrinh7482
      @bryantrinh7482 9 ปีที่แล้ว +19

      DALE GOLDSTON That's not true, honestly lin got very lucky. He is good enough but remember he was still undrafted. He was also sent to the d-league many times, probably because he was asian. So don't give me any of that it's not because he's asian. He was never given the chance to play until injuries occurred. He was always good enough.

    • @Kareem-cx4fi
      @Kareem-cx4fi 9 ปีที่แล้ว +49

      Bryan Trinh This argument is populated by people who know little about how the NBA works. Lin was undrafted for many reasons. Being Asian is NOT the main reason. If it was, then Yao Ming would have never been the first overall pick of 2002. Do you know how hard it is to be drafted? 60 picks out of the thousands of prospects in the US and then add the international talent to that! Lin plays the point guard position, the most populated position in the NBA. Every guy on an NBA roster was Mr somebody(the best player in their school or county or area). Even the last guy on the bench was a special player where ever he came from. You think getting into an elite school is hard? Scouts look for growth potential mainly - a player's possible ceiling. Looking back, there was no area that Lin was so much better than anybody else. Nothing that makes him special He has a below average NBA wing span and a below average vertical (which is why his defensive ability is limited when compared to the "average" NBA player). He has a quick first step, which is why he is able to drive through defenses most times. Looking closely, he is a smart basket ball player and is able to make plays -that is one of the later areas scouts look at when drafting, initially they look at physical attributes (JUDGED as an ATHLETE before basketball player) - height, athleticism(MAINLY, especially vertical ability), speed, strength. They don't care for shooting too much because that can be worked on and improved, unless the player is exceptional at shooting. Steph Curry was turned down by almost all the schools and major basketball schools. Everyone said he was too small. if you look at his story the main reason he was drafted was because he was hands down the BEST shooter in the draft - by FAR. NBA drafts look for special attributes they think will translate, what makes Lin a good player is not something that is so obvious among other things..

    • @Kareem-cx4fi
      @Kareem-cx4fi 9 ปีที่แล้ว +12

      Bryan Trinh (continued), If Lin had a better handle (way less turnovers, especially since coaches know they can't get much from him defensively, he should at least be able to protect the ball better than most players who can defend as a trade off) and was a better shooter his chances of getting drafted would have been a lot better(not guaranteed). The NBA typically drafts 1st year to 2nd year college players. After that chances of getting drafted drop significantly for a reason I will not get into (Lin spent 4 years playing college ball). Also the NBA is a cut throat league. You get little chances to impress and be given minutes. Nervous or mess up once and that's it. If you look at a lot of the times Lin signed to short term contracts and got cut - he didn't play well. It was that simple. Coaches are trying to win games and the NBA is the most brutal form of contracting. Coach's don't have time to wait and develop players(unless they drafted them, hence believe they can be an impact player for the franchise), they go with what ever seems to work and as soon as you mess up, especially if you were undrafted, they cut you out of the rotation. Some guys just never get playing minutes and are forgotten. This happens to many undrafted guys on a daily basis. The D-League has a bunch of players that could play in the NBA but have not been given a chance. Luckily Lin was able to capitalize on his opportunity in New York.

    • @bryantrinh7482
      @bryantrinh7482 9 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      Marlon Joseph That's true, but there are practices. Do you remember his Lin's first ever summer league with the dallas mavericks? He went undrafted that year, played against john wall, the number 1 pick in the draft, and got the better of him. He played tough defense on john wall, i think he shot like 3 for 18, and lin had 13 pts on 50% shooting. EVEN THEN he was released by mavs, and picked up by the warriors for jersey sales. These scouts are paid a lot of money, they see these players everyday in practice. And you have players like phil pressey getting some playing time even though he can't even shoot above 37%

    how come he tried to dunk it on that one guy but then he laid it up twice when he was wide open?

    • @Korean_OG
      @Korean_OG 10 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      cuz of the different situations. He tried to dunk on him because he had short distance between him and the rim which gives him more chance to get up higher rather than jump long distance and had no defender on his back and was a fast break after a turnover. But if you see the lay ups.... hes in the situation where defenders were closer and they had focus on lin's penetration, in this situation you want to jump early then your defender to get a better position to lay in or get a contact.

      A dunk on someone is a notch on your belt, a reputation enhancer, and potential game momentum changer! A transition dunk, unless it's nasty (like a 360 or something) isn't always worth the energy or effort. You obviously a land lover...Lol...

    Not only that, but Lin also excels in using the pick and roll as both opportunities to score and get assists. If you watch Linsanity tapes from when he dominated in NY vs this season, the amount of pick and roll ran significantly decreased. That's why Lin and Tyson Chandler worked so well together. I feel that now DH12 is in Houston, play will revolve around pick and rolls giving Howard space to score, which will also give Lin more opportunities to get assists and score

    yes i comprehended that, my point is you dont have the same advantage too mess up from time to time if you havent proven yourself yet, half a season of good ball is not enough, kobe and mj could afford to mess up from time to time because they were already proven winners on a consistent basis, lin needs to do the same and maybe one day hell be able to mess up and use his get a way free pass

    Jeremy Lin is a pick and roll player. If he is utilized correctly he’s pretty efficient. He thrived in D’Antoni’s system on the Knicks before Carmelo came back.

  • @TheBBallEnthusiast
    @TheBBallEnthusiast 11 ปีที่แล้ว

    He received the praise because he came from being undrafted, to a bench warmer, to leading the Knicks to a win streak, something that carmelo didn't do. What matters are wins, not stats. Jeremy Lin lead the Knicks to wins while Carmelo just filled up his own stat sheet. Sometimes the amount you get paid isn't based on the numbers you put up, it's based on the impact you make with your team.

    ok ill give him that he came out of nowhere and produced really well when new york had injury problems and he helped them make the playoffs that year, what im saying is 1/2 a season of good basketball doesnt give you the privilege of messing up from time to time, like jordan and kobe have (it might be unfair but its honest)

    First, that was last year and if you really knew your stats correctly, you would find that though he did not live up to his hype, his numbers were very serviceable for a player starting for the first time against top competition. Harden, whom I'm SURE you LOVE (he is a great player) had the highest turnover count in the league but you don't say he turns the ball over too much!

  • @duperfat
    @duperfat 11 ปีที่แล้ว

    The truth is, Jeremy Lin's role completely changed once Harden got on the rockets. J Lin is most effective with the ball in his hands, driving into the lane aggressively and making buckets or passing it to open teammates. With Harden handling the ball most of the time, he's become a spot up shooter a lot more (which isn't what he's good for). If you guys look up stats from last season, when Harden missed games, Lin can still put up linsanity-like numbers.

    thats right come back strong from getting dunk on. It doesnt matter if you get block, eye balled, crossed, dunked on, or cookie taken its all part of the game. You cant prevent it from happen. All you can do is just come back strong and do the best you can. Jeremy Lin all the way!!!!!!!
