    The only other thing I did was bend the chain guard mount where the spring goes. Just so the chain wasn’t so close. But that’s easy. Nice video.

      @Deucealive75 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Would you be able to use a long bolt through the chain guard mount? Then put a nylon sleeve over the threads with a nut on the end for the spring attachment point? Would this be too close to chain movement?

    • @bwxmoto
      @bwxmoto  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks! How long of a spring did you end up using? just curious. I have to put bike back together and then try to find a good spring for the job.

  • @johnhock890
    @johnhock890 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    I cut the 5/8 tube 10 .125" eliminated nuts..installed 10 x 1.25
    Helicoils... then made a cam shaped
    Spring holder with 3 holes. Removed
    Pulley bolt...rewelded opposite direction...bent everything opposite of how it was made..flipped spring over so now tensioner pushes up!
    Works great! 5/8 bar is now locked in won't spin and used original spring! Great idea I just made it better!

    • @bwxmoto
      @bwxmoto  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Nice! I ended up putting a different spring on there and doubling it back around the swing-arm and back onto the tensioner arm. Works great but after that plastic wears down it gets pretty loud. Might just go to a metal roller but I bet that will be even louder. Maybe a roller skate wheel or something would hold up, not sure. That plastic lasts for about 10 miles.

    • @johnhock890
      @johnhock890 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I have seen people use skateboard wheels. I rode it around then lubed chain bike rolls better! Didn't put alot
      Of tension on it..see how long it last!

    • @bwxmoto
      @bwxmoto  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@johnhock890 Yeah I needed quite a bit of tension for it to not oscillate up and down at at over 40 mph. I think a skateboard wheel might work better. Not sure if it'll fit on that tensioner though. Maybe just a metal roller would work, but it would be loud!

      www.gopowersports.com/coleman-chain-roller-assembly-for-ct200/ I have been using these and don’t think they are too loud at all. I like them because they are a little wider than the plastic ones. I am also working on an updated tensioner that is even beefier.

    • @bwxmoto
      @bwxmoto  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@idiot-proofgarage3739 Nice. I see those bearings have 8mm ID. Did you have to use different bearings? EDIT. - OIC it looks like they use a spacer to go down to 8mm. 👍
      I’m thinking about trying a sprocket too. Maybe the stock 10t from TC. It works great as is but wears the plastic rollers too quick. Maybe that metal roller would be fine though. I put some dynamat type stuff on the tensioner arm today and that helped a little with the noise. 🤷‍♂️😆
      Noise only happens when off throttle though.

  • @lowlifeslides9918

    Ride it for about an hour and you will have worn through the tensioner wheel. I got the same thing for a mini bike and was very disappointed that the spring is essentially unusable in most applications, and the wheel doesnt last at all, im currently using that arm with a solid slide adjustment I made for it and an idler sprocket instead of the wheel but it knocks the chain off on big bumps. I need a spring tensioner with the length of this and the functionality of the Craftsman sprocket tensioner

    • @bwxmoto
      @bwxmoto  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I used a metal roller and it works great. Yeah the plastic roller wears too much.

    • @lowlifeslides9918
      @lowlifeslides9918 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@bwxmoto Nice, I decided for fear of chain wear, that id just stick with the sprocket and try the Craftsman weld on tensioner

    • @bwxmoto
      @bwxmoto  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@lowlifeslides9918 The cool thing is you can use the metal roller from any old Coleman minibike jackshaft setup. It fits right on there. I used the bearings from the plastic roller and a washer as a spacer tube extender. All stuff a lot of people have laying around. The metal roller is so quiet too, opposite of what I thought would happen. Might want to try it. I think a sprocket roller might be cool too.

    • @lowlifeslides9918
      @lowlifeslides9918 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@bwxmoto Ive done something similar to what you have now but with a sprocket, it has been holding up alright but it vibrates a lot. I thought about trying a metal wheel but thought it would cause wear. I might have to try that coleman roller tho, itd probably save me 90$ on the craftsman tensioner

    I’m glad you addressed this, when I test drove mine for the first time the chain popped off. Couldn’t tell how it happened at first because the chain seemed so tight when I put it back on, then loose while rotating like you pointed out.
    Are you getting a longer chain to help fit the bigger shocks?

    • @bwxmoto
      @bwxmoto  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Not for that, but for the 60t rear sprocket. But if I was leaving stock sprocket and just upgrading shocks to longer ones I'm not sure if I'd need an extra link or two or not. I'm guessing I'd need maybe one at least but that's just a guess.
      And I have seen many people have issues with chain tension on these things stock over the years. My chain didn't come off but it was rubbing on inside of driven pulley bad a few times and it sounded like it was going to pop off. I think chain tensioner would help that! I'll know soon. 👍
      Might also need a spacer between sprocket and driven pulley too though.

    Man I wish I could get a MB200. My BT200 has zero rear suspension, weird thing though. I have a 2022 XT250 but enjoy bumbling around on the BT

      Yeah I get it. Mini bikes are so much easier and sometimes more fun to ride. Much less serious than a 270 lb bike! Pit bikes are fun too.

  • @Bobafetblue

    I built one of these and they work great thanks, but I'm having a new problem. The rear driven pulley is terribly cut and bent from running it without the chain tensioner. I was Looking to get a new one and noticed in the video you said you replaced your old one, so wondering if you recommended anything.

    • @bwxmoto
      @bwxmoto  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yeah you can buy just the rear pulley, at least you used to be able to on eBay and amazon. It would be listed as the “driven pulley” for a TAV2 30 torque converter.

    Real nice idea and like you say, should have come that way stock. Try not to overdo it with spring tension. Find the happy middle.
    Are you going to do a vid on the 60 tooth install, etc?

    • @bwxmoto
      @bwxmoto  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah isn't that just so slick? Like I said, wish I thought it up! I have never really dealt with chain tensioners before so I'm going to get a bunch of different springs to test out. Hope I can find some locally that will give me enough tension but not too much, like you said.
      Also I have been working on vid for the 9t/-60t (or 8t if possible) setup but I ended up having to do the shocks and the tensioner, chain obviously, and also driver pulley and everything at the same time.
      Also trying to measure everything so eventually I can cut off the driven pulley shaft mount and use a regular TAV plate. But yeah hope I can make a vid about it all that makes any sense. LOL 😆
      Also got that front brake kit / stage one kit, and some other stuff. This mini bike is going to be pretty cool when it's done!

      If you search internet for "5/8" OD x 3/8" ID, 12" Steel Tubing" Or something like that you'll find it. Can probably find something at a local shop somewhere. Seems kind of expensive on ebay but they are still there. Links change too fast on ebay to put link in description unfortunately. www.ebay.com/itm/202962512764

    What spring did you end up going with?

    • @bwxmoto
      @bwxmoto  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I show it in this vid (link below) at 14:07 th-cam.com/video/_OP7e2Or_Ug/w-d-xo.html
      It's a big spring I got in a package of assorted springs from Lowe's hardware store. I'll see if I can find a link to that package of springs. Ended up drilling a hole higher in the tensioner swingarm and looping spring around the swingarm support. I did shoot a vid about that but not sure where it is. I also used a metal roller off of CT200U type jackshaft chain tensioner and it worked on this tensioner. I bought that from gopowersports for $12.
      I'll have to make a separate vid about that but I do show it in one of these MB200-2 vids somewhere.

      I'm just not sure. It was definitely like one of the last two, but not sure if it came in that assortment or not. I just when and got a bunch of springs and ended up using one like the last two. The one that is in that video link above.

      I just don't have time to do stuff like that, especially in the summer, sorry. It's pretty easy though. All you really need is a cheap hacksaw and a drill as far as tools go. You could also just run a regular one that clamps to the swingarm. People run those and say they work fine. Like this one: (round tube) option. Can sometimes find them quicker shipping on ebay or amazon. www.aliexpress.com/item/4000068508517.html?spm=a2g0s.9042311.0.0.d8fb4c4dnbMD2y

      @@kylecampbell4357 I dunno. I know sometimes UPS drivers leave my stuff on the side of the main road 300 feet from my house and on the tracking it says left on my porch. LOL
      From GPS I know they get backed up and sometimes do not ship orders right away, might be a week before they ship out.. But yeah can be a pain.
      From Ali Express stuff comes from China so might be a month or as little as a week. That chain tensioner I linked to took quite a while, I think 2 weeks to get here last winter.
      OMB Warehouse is pretty good usually. I think GPS needs to hire more people or something,. they are always backed up it seems. But I always eventually get my orders from them but it takes a few more days than I'd like. But if you call or email and stay cool with them they have always been cool with me.
