Congratulations on obtaining that Disney prototype! I have long wondered what happened to that planned Disney train. In the early 2000s, I was able to compile lists of items that MTH was planning but had not yet publicly announced. Believe it or not, I got this advanced information from MTH's own web site! I was surprised at how easily I was able to obtain this data, and I believe MTH was completely unaware at the time that the public could get to it. Eventually, MTH did become aware, and they plugged the leak. What was especially interesting were items that were planned but never produced. Relative to the current discussion is the following item, which was planned for the early 2002 catalog: 30-4072-0 4-6-0 TEN WHEELER STEAM R-T-R TRAIN SET - DISNEY My apologies if this is old news. One other item that was planned but not released was a RailKing NYC P2 box-cab electric engine: 30-2523-0 P2 BOX CAB ELECTRIC - NEW YORK CENTRAL 30-2523-1 P2 BOX CAB ELECTRIC - NEW YORK CENTRAL I would have jumped at that thing had it been made.

I have very fond memories of PS1 (okay, well moreso just one engine with PS1) and the WDWRR, I bet the kid in me would LOVE the prototype to death if the whistle were good enough (it’s hard to compete with the whistle on a more modern-looking MTH 4-6-0 that’s been with me for now 23 years)
Congrats on such a unique addition to your collection! Such a shame that the project never moved forward to full production. It would have been great to see what PFA MTH would have used as well. Is yours a working prototype? Does it have DCS installed? Thanks for sharing and enjoy!
