Great list MC! I do think the Kershaw Bel Aire shouldve been on it: magnacut, crossbar lock, aluminum scales, USA made - $143.
What a slap/beatdown with the leather info card! 😮
Magic 😂
Man I love seeing the American Lawman on this list. We all knew the triad could withstand a grenade, but more impressive, it’s withstood the test of time in the ever changing tastes of the US knife market. Nice vid!
The Launch 16 is my knife of choice when I’m working security. Just freakin love it.
I got a purple and black sheepdog in the Kizer anniversary sale for real cheap. Great knife.
you are absolutely correct when you bring up the vission fg since youve had the knife you have put at the #1 spot for knives in budget territory. it would be a hard win going up against knives in the 150 dollar territory. i could not make up my mind until i saw your review, maybe it was the enthusiasm in your voice, i dont know but i ordered this knife before you even finished the review. so thanks again for helping me make up my mind.. take care
Love me civivi vision so much I bought the ultem and both damascus versions and even custom scales for the white g10 damascus.
Just bought a used Brat for $47 like new, & it's amazing. Totally blown away by the quality!
Much love brotha! I just had surgery so I'm stuck in the bed thank you for uploading and giving me something to watch!
Hope you have a speedy recovery brotha.
@@Sleepy_spartan717 thank you so much my brotha!
Wish you a speedy and full recovery!
@@galactigo4463 yes luckily not that but some other knives lol thank you
@@QenaitheCustodianGuard greatly appreciated brotha
Great list!
The Vision FG is in my pocket as I watch this, and I have to agree. FANTASTIC!!!
Brands like civivi, kizer, and kansept are pretty much dominating this price point. Hard to argue with them having sales all the time, making lots of thier 150$+ "premium" models swing for under 150$. All have very solid output performances and are great when you wanna extend your collection and try new designs by very competent designers who work with them. Great list. Lots of variety to get people thinking.
You can still buy the Kershaw Blur,USA. I've had one since they were first released. They are great in a weld shop with aluminum scales.
Def gotta agree on the Neptune. Honestly, when I first saw the price I figured it had to be a scam and nothing was ever going to show up. But when it showed up it totally blew me away. It feels like an OTF that costs 2-3x more. I frickin love my Neptune, by far the best value for your money when it comes to OTFs. Was a little worried when it took so long to ship, but man I'm glad I listened to your recommendation.
Love me some Hogue action. Deka w/ magna along with some kick ass OG scales....Can't beat it!
I got he deka collectors and its a very nice knife.
Sweet list
Great list that goes to 11!
I've been using my ad10 lite on and off. Kinda big for an edc knife, but still a solid bit of kit.
Heres how you get rid of button stick. Depress the button about halfway with your thumb and twist the button in its place a little bit. Try that. Keep spinning it a little. Works 100% of the time and no disassemblely required. :)
The purple Fatcarbon Militaw was in stock on kizers website on Friday. I was able to grab one before they sold put again.
Add the Bestech Swordfish to the list, Knife Center Exclusive, newer version in MagnaCut & Button-Lock!!!
What’s the HRC?? Got mine on the way.
AD-10 on Amazon usually hangs between $95 and $120. Put it in your save for later cart and keep an eye on it.
I see it at 85 right now 🤑
@15:08 “This does come in configurations outside of PEE PEE YELLOW” 😭
Yep Maxace Neptune is the overall best value in the knife world today. Thanks for the vid!
My favorite Kizer is the Towser K. I’ve got both the budget version and I git the premium version on sale for $120. On your list I would add The Maxace Mamba in the SLD Magic. It’s $125 on their site and if you keep your eyes out you can get it for sub $100. Beautiful fit and finish. And the best part is it has action as good if not better than the Towser K which everyone loves. I carry my Mamba EDC and my Neptune sits in the box. But I love the Neptune too. lol
Great list. Where did you get the secondary scales for the hogue deka? Been looking some but all I found were aluminum ones but I’d rather g10 or micarta. Thanks!
8:20 the Maxace Neptune uses 2 springs for the OTF mechanism. Also the locking tabs for both extension and retraction sides are doubled (not that it needs both but adds a certain degree of security, since you never know when water and salt inside those tiny cavities can corrode the springs). Sanmai steel is 三枚 in Chinese / Japanese Kanji, stands for "three pieces" = sandwiched. The center part is Hitachi SLDmagic, easy to sharpen and holds a fine edge quite long (like close to S30V performance), and you got double edges on this OTF so at least there's always a backup blade around...turn it around that is. The problem with this steel is it stains easily with just the sweat on your hands. This problem is somewhat compensated by the knife's OTF nature since opening and closing requires no finger touching the blade at all. If the finger do come in contact with the blade during deploy, take care of that finger before wiping the blade clean please.
I have the Neptune and you're absolutely right about how easily it can stain.
Any idea if maxace is going to release mor of the black mirror. Can't find one anywhere
Coldsteel knives are some of the best out there in terms of reliability for the price, and that American lawman was a beast in xhp
I feel like the Bel-Air should be on this list. Deka is my favorite from your list. One could also save another 30 bucks and get a Hogue Ritter or mini.
The Bel Air definitely should have been there. My mistake
My personal favorite is the Swiss Army Knife. I carry one (almost) everywhere.
Hey Metal Complex i want to order The kizer Nascene what are youre thoughts nobody else has metioned them and the pre order ends tomorrow night ? Any info woupd be appreciated like is it more slicey ? I want one but no reviews
The Hogue Deka is my favorite knife to EDC.
Kizer Brat and Maxace OTF are 🔥
Great list…I would maybe include the We Banter, but that’s nitpicking.
I can’t really argue with any of the knives showcase in this video.
I still have yet to get the Civivi Vision. It is, however, next up on my list.
All versions of the Real Steel Huginn are on sale for $49.50 with an Amazon business account (free to make, no business needed). Msrp is $120-$130, normally $90 on sale with a consumer account. Crazy steal for VG-10. The Sacra is also steep discounted at $35 with amazon business account 😮
I'm curious to see the new Cold Steel Linerlocks with 20CV & CF, but the price is Insane. I believe the one that looks like a folding dagger is over $400. So gonna be interesting to see the reviews for them.
Liner locks (and frame locks) are cheap junk.
@@DB.KOOPER Cool, heard of Herman?
Vosteed mini psyop though!
I think the Lionsteel SR22 is an aluminum integral with a convex ground blade for under 150 when on sale, only 160 normally
I own Maxace Black Mirror, Kizer Brat, Maxace Neptune, Kizer Purple Sheepdog and that bonus Premium version of Militaw is on it's way that I got for round2 210 dollars. It's save to say that I'm a Knife Influencers Victim that watches all of those videos MC puts out and make my choices based on those reviews, even though I don' always believe that myself.
😞 I need this same list with blades under 3" in length?? Oh, and a list with that blade length, with best edge retention 😅😊
Good luck trying to find the Maxace Neptune
Never really gave the Neptune a second glance until now. Not an OTF guy at all but this one is very nice
There’s something about Hogue. I can’t put my finger on it, but it’s always like their models resemble pocket knives that were popular like 20yrs ago. I always get that “day late, dollar short” impression when I look at their stuff. Idk 🤷🏼♂️. It’s hard to describe. There’s no “fizz” with their knives.
Opposite for me. I love hogue for both appearance and the fact that they're actually doing good heat treatments
Asshat! How dare you bring up the militaw!! It's too good for this list 😉
Yeah that one is pretty sweet.
The Spyderco Tenacious M4 is also a great alternative when it comes to performance. The BHQ Delica & Endura in M4 is also great when available. When it comes to the K390 variants I would always recommend people go with the Stretch 2 over the Delica/Endura/Endela since the Stretch 2 is a much more comfortable user.
I’ve always been a fan of my tenacious. Wish you could get the frame lock version with the m4 off the shelf!
@@maybefrank8345 Yeah the Titanium frame lock version was originally gonna come with a D2 blade and not 8cr. The M4 would have been perfect for it. I'm sure it won't be hard to modify it so you can put the M4 blade in the frame lock version. Another option is to get the Flytanium Titanium scales for the Tenacious for about $50.
@@Cid_1 yanno I thought about a blade swap but the cost just didn’t add up for me. And the titanium scales would be cheaper but it’d still be a liner lock…just can’t win haha 🤷♂️
Rex 45 Manix is 130 at GPknives. That neptune looks great for my first OTF.
OTFs are garbage...
Cold Steel SR1 folder.
Is the Maxace Neptune ever in stock?
The AD10 is on sale for 95 on Amazon and it's better than most of the knives on this list.
It's great but far too bulky for most people. If you don't mind the bulk, it's a winner 👍
@metal_complex I let my fanboy side out with this comment hah. Keep up the great work 👍 👏
It's not too big. It's contoured nicely without awkward edges to dig into your hip or wherever you clip in.
My issue is the clip which has too high of a retention. I swapped my clip out for a titanium one and have the perfect knife now.
@kevingibbs5632 what you're saying is subjective. The AD10 is objectively larger than the average pocket knife. Given that the general population of the community tends to gravitate towards knives that are smaller than the AD10, what I said is objectively true.
What you meant to say was: "The AD10 isn't too big for ME" - which is fine.
@@metal_complex not necessarily, 80% of the time, the AD10 is too big. That's more of an EDC situation. Weight being more of a restriction than size IMO. But when I'm around the house, knocking out my Honey Do list, it's fantastic.
Cold Steel did a good job on contouring the AD10 is what I'm saying. Yes it's a big knife. No I don't walk around town with it. But if I'm stringing Christmas lights or cleaning gutters and I'm 25' up on a ladder, you bet I'm packing a multi tool and the AD10 because I don't like going up and down ladders because my knife is too small for the job.
I couldn't even imagine reassembling an integral button lock. And if there was a functional reason or benefit to it, maybe I could see it, but I'm not seeing a benefit for all the added maintenance hassles.
I usually and, for the most part, love your content. This one not so much. Its hard, but if you look hard enough for a spyderco para 3 in cpm s30v or s45vn, they are out there and are better than most everything on your list imo. With that said, no offense, I love your content and will continue to watch and appreciate your vast knowledge.
I just got another Para 3 LW to try it again.. I still hate it, every time I buy a Spyderco I’m disappointed.
I hear you. I actually almost never gel with him on knife choices, but I like knives, so I still watch.
Cold steel on the list? Deka superior to Bugout in every way? Nope
I think Hogue is underrated because they are mainly known for firearm grips
ugh you tease us with the neptune
Kizer Original XL frag titanium in S35VN for $76! Come on. Titanium Frost version for $119! I don’t understand why this thing is so underrated. Best button lock action I’ve ever experienced.
Completely agree with the #1. The Vision FG feels way too solid for the price.
Been using that Neptune a lot and it's a good knife, but I am not too impressed at all with the steel. Edge retention has not been great for me.
Everytime he shows the MaxAce Neptune I go look and its sold out
I know exactly how maxace does it. They have umpa loompas that work for room and board.
I have two of the Kizer Brat knives. (It is actually pronounced braat, like bratwurst, because the blade is like it is wrapped in a bratwurst bun, and the blade has a shape that looks like the shape of a bratwurst, in a way.)
instant click to watch!
Not to sound like a broken record, but the Spyderco Tenacious in M4 would absolutely be on my list. I have two and they both tested between 64-65 hrc. I would be surprised if any knife on this list would perform as well.
A friend of mine has one that he absolutely beats in and loves. I’ve been meaning to get one!
It's a good buy for the steel but man the fit/finish on that knife is so sketchy. I suppose it could have been an honorable mention
@@metal_complex Really? The ones I have are pretty much flawless. It's not a drop shut knife, but it's smooth. Lock bar access is great, but could use a chamfer instead of that jimping. Have you tried the G10 versions?
The knives mentioned are not sprint runs though, they are knives you can go out and buy right now.
Spyderco runs their m4 hard which is nice
love how you always call Kershaw Kizers and call Kizers Kershaw 😂😂😂
It's an easy one to miss and even the best of us still makes it💪
Why the heist instead of the bel air?
Maybe cuz the aluminum handle is slippery ..if it had textured diamond grip like on a 1911 or Kunwu Pulsar it would be knife of the year (for me)
Sorry but that's gotta be a 0/10 on the TikTok slap.
😂 Sweet list though, but if I had to choose I'd go with the two Kershaws, the Rike Tulay, and the Deka. I don't have these knives yet, but I will at some point. Lol
Bruh I ordered a Neptune in may and just found out it got lost in the mail 😭
It's odd. I'm not sure whether Larrin Thomas is wrong, or people don't actually value edge-holding too much. But Nitro-V (and 14C28N) both have less edge-holding that 440A. Huge toughness and stain resistance, but very low edge holding - very unbalanced in terms of traits.
Just paid 250 usd total for the dlc purple militaw at knifecenter with priority mail and taxes.. I'm done buying knives after this I swear! 😅
9 minute gang
No mention of the BladeHQ Ad20.5 with 20CV and G10 being on sale for $119? Seems like a steal of a deal and I should have mine today. I guess it being a sale price isn’t you didn’t mention it but it could have at least been an honorable mention
It's literally right at the beginning
1:20
@@metal_complex duhhh I’m embarrassed. I’m gonna blame it on toddler brain
Killer knife. The G10 was a touch too grippy for my tastes, so I put some OG aluminum scales on it and it’s now a top piece in my collection for under $200
@@BigTuba2157 what’s the weight with the aluminum OG scales? I actually like the color of the G10 more than I thought I would. I may try and lightly wet sand them a bit.
That Heist is a better Bugout without the brand
Unless you really care about flicking your knife around, the cold steel American lawman is hands down the best folding knife out there. I think being limited to only an all black version hinders the popularity. Would be cool if it were made in America though because “murica”
I normally agree with at least most of the stuff you put on the lists but damn this one not so much
The WMK version of the militaw is $130
Everyday carry in the UK the blade as to be 3in or below the blade can't lock there's more give you the general idea great channel
That militaw is 190 to 220. illegal procedure penalty 🚩 Edit: watched the video to the very end. Flag has been picked up.
240 with tax
@TMthumper that's for the purple one. Standard militaw is $159. Explained in the video. It's also linked
@metal_complex Noted, that's why I edited my reply and said flag picked up.
I think kershaw bel air should of been on this list ❤
Agreed. Missed that one
You am no real super sand!
Disclaimer: Every once in a while you're going to get a lemon. That being said, I was really disappointed with my Maxace Neptune. Waited forever for them to be back in stock, finally got my hands on one, and it's been one of the biggest let downs I've experienced since I started collecting knives. I REALLY wanted love it, but there were so many issues. Button slop, misfires, rattles, blade play. I reached out to Maxace, but being in China, there was nothing they would do. I took it apart and tried to tune things. Got rid of the button slop and rattle, but the misfires and blade play were deal breakers for sure. Again, maybe I got a lemon, but the entire experience was so bad, I just won't give it another chance.
We are sorry to bring you a bad shopping experience.
The rattle was due to two locking points, which is for safety considerations. If you feel that the sound of having one more point is not good, you can remove one. In this way, there is only one locking point, but the sound will not occur again.
In addition, regarding the problem of the spring being too tight. Many companies use a single spring, but in order to make our products more durable, we have chosen double springs.Neptune uses 2 springs for the OTF mechanism. This is also for the safety considerations. If you need to adjust the strength, as I told you in the email, you can try to disassemble the handle and loosen the spring, it will be easier to open. Thank you!
Kizer Militaw on the Kershaw website... that's weird
?
( @@metal_complex in the video, you said the Kizer Militaw is on the kershaw website, is what I think they're referencing )
Oh you mis spoke and said you can get the militaw on kershaw website and I was just giving you some shit lol
@@prtypeninjaoh haha
I just cant get into spyders. I just get a too cheap of a feeling from em
What do you think about Benchmade?
Black mirrors are ALWAYS out of stock.
You could buy them from Tools for Gents. They have stock.
Dude, it’s Kizer not Kaiser. Kizer makes the Militaw not Kershaw.
The top 16 best knives $75-$150
#ftfy
KIZER lol
My wallet hates you!!!
Kizer ≠ Kershaw lol
My only gripe with Hogue is all of their designs are super ugly. The RSK is the only good looking knife and it wasn't designed by them.
Lol i have two of the honorable mentions, the s90v hectare (opening hole access makes it hard to flick open) and the non coated 20cv
Thanks
