I'm not sure I ever even heard of this game, but I like the theme personally much more than the Rome one, and I think it's neat to have another theme like this for people who might enjoy this one. I've definitely heard of Foundations of Rome and I know it won high accolades. Thanks so much for the tutorial! :)
Same here i feel you, why are we addicted to see him explain board games, it's something about his face, his voice, his expression ❤ My GF is jealous of him literally
@@WatchItPlayed refrasing it as a rules question: are players allowed to lift the building tiles to "consult" how many points they'd get before making a decision or is that considered secret information?
09:57 If all of my lot markers are used, is it still allowed to overbuild E5 by using the lot marker that I just got from the overbuild action (C5 or C7 in that example)?
@@WatchItPlayed Sorry, what I'm asking is: 1. The condition is exactly like what's shown in 09:19, but all of my lot markers are on the board. 2. Can I still building over C6-D6 building, considering 2 of my lot markers from C5 and D7 will be returned to me by the same action?
@@wicaksonoadi1035the answer is yes you can. As long as you’ll have the markers at the end of the overbuild to cover the remaining owned lots you’re good!
@@wicaksonoadi1035yeah I see what you mean. Its like: do you have to have the markers available BEFORE over building or is it okay to use the markera you get back when you overbuild? Right?
I've played Foundations of Rome, I watched this video to compare and its exactly the same game, same rules, same point values, etc., just the buildings look different and have different names. And I wouldn't be surprised if the extra content from Rome will be released as expansions for Metropolis later.
The production schedule for tutorials can get quite full, but I hope to sprinkle in Table Talks where I can, and as I find topics that I feel I have something to offer on.
Great video! I’ve always heard great things about foundations of Rome, so this looks worth checking out.
I was excited to see them release this for the same reason.
a fundations rome version that can be played out of a museum! nice.
I pre-ordered this and I am very excited for it. Foundations of Rome just wasn't in my price point for a board game.
Same!
Have a great time playing!
This game looks AWESOME! Thank you for another fantastic teach Mr. Smith!
My pleasure - thank you for checking it out!
Rodney, are you suggesting Canadian money is "play money"? 😀
I'm trying to convince Revenue Canada I get paid in play money. Work with me here!

Oopsie! No tutorial tomorrow - I promise!
This game looks very cool! Thanks Rodney! :D
Appreciate you checking it out - thanks!
Anytime I think about adding a game to my wishlist I come here first to make sure
I'm so glad to hear the videos have been useful in helping you find games you might enjoy!
What i dont have to lug around a 3x3 box to play this game anymore. Crazy!
Not bad, right?
Looks cool. Thanks, Rodney:)
Appreciate you checking it out!
Ha, as a fellow Canadian I loved that you used our coins as play money.😂
@@boblachance7030 A little self deprecating humor for my fellow canucks!
need this one
I hope you get a chance to try it!
Go Rodney!
🥓🥓🥓 I plan to pick this up at Gen Con.
I wish I was going so I could get my bacon refill in person!
@@WatchItPlayed that would have been great! Maybe next time?
Where do you get your flannel shirts from?
I don't really have one place I shop for them.
Why aren't the prestige points printed on the building tiles?
Are we not supposed to know how many points each building awards until they are built?
I suppose that's more of a publishing question than a rules question. I don't have any insight there, sorry.
@@WatchItPlayed refrasing it as a rules question: are players allowed to lift the building tiles to "consult" how many points they'd get before making a decision or is that considered secret information?
@@maxcoseti That is not secret information, you're allowed to be aware of their point values.

Are the rules identical to foundations of rome?
Foundations of Rome comes with some "in the box" optional expansions, but my understanding is that the core rules are the same.
