    Glad to see that I am not the only one who is so crazy replacing the original screws with stainless or special screws. And cutting threads for the metric screws into the parts too.
    Your working space is so neat. Mine is so awfully crowded. I admire your style. No bullshit talking, discreet music and no loud crappy stuff. Watching your videos is like Zen Buddhism of RC modelling.

      Thanks, Martin Zurru! I appreciate the words and thank you for watching. Definitely, prefer hex and stainless especially with vintage and iconic kits.

    This car was one of my father's dream radio-controlled cars when he was a child.
    It was very expensive and not something that a child could afford, so he eventually gave up on buying it.
    I can't believe it's 30 years old, but it's so stylish.

      Thanks for watching! Yes, it was an expensive kit back in the day. Never had one in the past because of that.

    This reminds me of when I built my Losi 22T a few years ago.
    I took my time and worked on it on the weekends. It took me about a month, but it was beautiful and I felt so accomplished.
    Took it to my local track and it drove better than it looked.
    I miss this hobby and living near a RC track in Tacoma WA.

    Since seeing your interpretation of the super astute, I’ve learnt how to de-pin plugs and now smoke/ black heat shrink all my wires. Also, I will now apply the score and snap technique to my future builds Thanks for inspiring me to go next level.

      Thanks, Eddienervous1! And thank you for watching. Glad there are some techniques to learn from, from the videos. If you have some spare lexan/polycarbonate, try and practice on those first. The hobby is a fine one and I'm also still learning new things on the way with every build. Good luck!

      Thanks for the reply. I keep most of my useable polycarbonate cut offs, I make custom spoilers out of them and planned on one day making canards/ aero fins to apply to the right buggy. Can I ask where you purchase the carbon sheets? I’d like to try a wide body avante, next build. I have one black and 2 standard NIB ready to roll. I’ve just finished my super astute and about to start a Tamiya 1/25 RC panzer tank for something different. Thanks again 🙏🏼

    • @MechanicAfterHours

    I've watched this several times and I'm still amazed at your vision and precise execution of not only this build, but all your other creations... I started out in RC as a very young lad in the very early 80's with a Rough Rider, then bought and painted a Sand Scorcher body when I smashed the original, then upgraded (downgraded) to a Grasshopper when that was released. Wow, what a mistake, the power of the box-art fooled a very young me. My friend, on the other hand, went from a Frog to a HOTSHOT. And THAT car blew my mind. I personally believe the Hotshot was a groundbreaker because it enabled my best friend to humiliate some of the older "snobs" at our local track (who all had RC10's) by winning a third place in his first race! Long story but I now have a Hotshot after nearly 40years and I'd love to see your interpretation...... if not, carry on the good work anyway, I'll still watch hahaha

    • @MechanicAfterHours
      @MechanicAfterHours  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks, Kester Stott! I appreciate the comment and message! That Rough Rider is an iconic piece of kit and part of RC history-it's truly what started the off-road RC buggy scene and got other brands into building their own off-road buggies. I've definitely thought about the Hot Shot many times and maybe one day will do a build.

    The style of letterings on the tires, and the red hex wheel nut in conjunction with the red paint stripes make this Egress so much nicer. I think the gold upgrades on the various connectors are nice too.

    This bar none is the sickest Egress ever to be assembled. I must build one for myself . The carbon , silver , gloss black with all the zink hardware is extremely elegant and all works together. Once I do one I think I'd go dry carbon ( dull) gloss black with all the aluminum anodized blood red a deep dark blood red instead of the zink

    Wow, again, what an impressing build! Love your imagination/theme and how you transferred it to nowadays! It simply doesn´t look old, which is a compliment for the Tamiya designers. Their 90´s buggies just have so much style... Again 10 from 10 points from me!!!

    Great videos, i appreciate the fact that you strive for perfection in every detail. At first i questioned your choice on replacing the self tapping screws with stainless machine screws but i understand that you are not a fan of the Phillips head kit screws. Following this i thought okay but then you could use titanium machine screws but they wouldn't add to the build because ultimately you are building a show-piece. The RWB influence also hasn't gone unnoticed. Kudos on all the details.

    Hey Man! I finally got some time to watch. This has to be one of the best looking RC buggies I have ever seen. Hands down it is gorgeous. Must have been fun to build. I like the history behind the build, reminds me of all the different RCs I craved throughout my own RC life. Congrats on the 191K views, a testament to your quality vids and builds. Take care👍🏾

    • @MechanicAfterHours
      @MechanicAfterHours  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks, 3T- RC! I appreciate the comment as always. It was a fun build but I wish the hard plastics are reinforced plastics like on the Tamiya TRF line. This is probably one kit especially any Tamiya enthusiast should at least build in their lifetime. It's up there with all the other iconic kits from other brands form that RC golden age period. Hope all is well!
