I miss pay phones. I grew up with them in the 60s. Used to check the little change cup in each one I walked by to check for change. It was a happy day when I found a couple of dimes. That meant candy run at the liquor store!

(dial 0 for Operator) hello, Operator! This phone didn't give my dime (10 cents) back and I have no more change. Can you help me?! No, it's not in the coin return or coin slot! What can I do? Operator: Hello, "sir" are you still there? Yes,ma'am. You need to say your name and phone number, and address, and we'll send you a refund within 2 weeks. But operator I have no money NOW. I'm sorry, sir, that's all we can do. (I'm all of 15 yrs. old)! 4 days later I received a letter with a card in it that had a dime taped to it! The scam of my life! I've felt guilty ever since! Peace

Kids today have no clue how tedious it was to make a phone call while away from home or an office. And my generation don't know how it was before there were telephones. The way the world is going, we might end up back in that position again.

Dave I have to tell you I study color in a pinstripe the biggest BMW dealer in the United States with paint !
Johanes Itten is a famous German color theorist ! He took a lot of major works of art and integrated their colors to arrive at one color.
That color is medium Gray like your shirts. His conclusion was that medium gray satisfies the mind !!! And I must say the most popular color of BMWs is gray !! So Dave there you have it !!

Not only did the concept of this bit not work, the technical idea failed too, since they didn't switch their on-air camera to the Times Square Jumbotron TV fast enough, and too many other people were in the way. Most of Letterman's bits failed when he used average regular people. It was a stupid idea to do this, because average regular people are not performers, so Letterman resorted to making them look either stupid, or ridiculous, or ugly. Letterman's cocky elitist producers and writers looked down on average regular people. So did Letterman, which is why Cher called him and asshole when she appeared on his show.
