“My Son is Sick.
My son is six years old. His name is Jack. One morning, Jack woke up feeling very tired and unwell. He had a temperature. When I felt his forehead, it was hot. My husband, John, and I were worried about him. We decided that Jack should not go to school that day.
Our house was unusually quiet. Jack lay on the couch with his favorite blanket. I sat next to him, trying to make him comfortable. Olivia, our five-year-old daughter, played quietly because she didn’t want to disturb Jack. She knew her brother was not feeling well and needed to rest.
The next day, Jack still felt sick. He also had a runny nose. We decided to take him to the doctor. Olivia insisted on coming with us. She stayed close to Jack, holding his hand. The doctor was very kind. He told us that Jack had the flu. He gave us some medicine for Jack and told us he needed to rest and drink lots of water.
When we got home, John made some chicken soup for Jack. It was his favorite. I gave Jack his medicine and made sure he drank enough water. Olivia tried to help in her own way. She sat with Jack and tried to cheer him up by showing him her drawings. She also read some stories to him from her favorite books.
Over the next few days, Jack slowly started to feel better. He began to eat more and his energy came back. Soon, he was able to play again. Olivia was very happy to have her brother back. We were all relieved to see Jack healthy again.
Fortunately, Olivia didn’t catch the flu because she got the flu vaccine a few months ago.
As Jack got better, our home felt lively once more. John and I felt thankful that Jack had recovered. Jack and Olivia started playing their usual games. They laughed and ran around the house. It was nice to hear their laughter again.”
