Canadians seem to be more focused on 'Competition' part with inflated ego, and they will pick out the tiniest bit of mistake in someone's food just to make them feel bad. Yes, it is a competition, but that is not everything.

Loving CDWM Canada, my favourite place to be this year. Can't get enough of the commentator, he is super exciting with a wicked sense of humour. Love it!
I think the show is great. I watch Come Dine with Me the British version for years and I always loved it. I think Dave Lamb, the British commentator is absolutely hilarious, he was pretty much the reason I start watching this cooking show years ago. I "accidentally" started to watch the Canadian version while I was looking for episodes I've missed on the British show. And I absolutely loved it. The Canadians are more relaxed and straight forward people - 2 things that I'm very happy with - and the commentator has more "balls" in saying stuff which I find it absolutely great. Brits are taking diplomacy a step too far and often looks pretty much like plain hypocrisy. And that's not cool. But again, is who they are. So, in the end, I find Canadian version a better entertainment.
This sounds funny, but I think everyone on the show gets a red pot provided by a umm kitchen Aide sponsor maybe? They are great pots but A Lot of the contestants have them , just speculating
I don't personally care for Zorna's personality but her menu was by far the best as for my food preferences. And Mark's Dick move from rating her 10 then downgrading to 6 is ridiculous. They shouldn't be able to change their initial rating the day after just because they got the shits from drinking too much alcohol. He also needs to cook those lobsters more humanly. Stick them in the freezer for a few hours to stun them then put them in the pot head first.
K Lab I've seen people being downgraded before for such an offense, but never by that many points, and tbh if it had been food poisoning or even a decent hangover how did he even cope with his own night? I agree this show could do with a slightly fairer scoring system. On the other hand that's part of what makes it a bit of a guilty pleasure to watch. :'( about the lobsters.
Why did I I think it was a good idea to inspect all the other versions of Come Dine With Me (in English) when even the UK one can be particularly unpleasant sometimes.
I would of just admitted I forgot to put the sugar in and laughed about it. Edit: So he did admit the next night, I would have done it at the time though.

I don't know what shows you're watching, but it is the Canadians that are actually having some fun. As for the "point of the show", the point is to critique the food, which the Canadian show does a much better job of as well.
They are told to snoop but they should hold a moral compass. Diaries are off bounds. Just saw this and was shocked to be honest. In the UK version they snoop but not like this. Also some of the characters in Canada love a drinkor two when prepping the food.....
