If you can get 50 miles in 3 hours, you just covered 3 days hiking.... Even if you need to sit in place for two days to get your next charge with your portable folding solar panel, you are still ahead of pace and remaining fresh and strong.. my 200 watt folding solar panel only weighs 14 pounds... My 90 watt folding solar panel weighs about half that...
There will always be sunlight; there may not always be gas... Like all preps, ebikes have a place in certain situations at certain times... Unfortunately we can never be certain which preps we will need until we end up in a specific SHTF scenario... Prep one if you can... And enjoy it in the meanwhile...
@@TheSurvivalOutpost all you need to know is the charging specs for your ebike... Place a programmable charge controller between the solar panel and the battery to stay within the specs and rig up a cable that connects to your ebike... Like all preps this should be done in advance... A 200 watt folding solar panel will charge smaller ebikes in one sunny day... Of course there is no guarantee of sun on any given day...
I build and design military grade batteries for various applications. My advise would be get a 3kW hub motor and a high power battery, not only the bike will be completely silent, but it'll go at decent speed considering one can pedal up to 20mph
I'm not a fan of the E-Bike. The weight of it will become an issue, especially for those who live in hill country. If you plan on being/ staying/ heading to flat land, it can be an asset. Otherwise, it WILL become a detriment. The 40 lbs. it weighs represents another 5 gallons of water/ food/ etc. that I want to have. None of us can eat a bicycle.
need a fairing, bro, need to travel at night, or get shot. Then a bit of fishline or thin wire, strung across the road will take your head clean off.. Amazon sells solid rubber bike tires and various panniers for holding stuff,, Consider walking alongside of the bike, letting it carry 100+ lbs of gear and food. consider 50 lbs more of same on a bike trailer, towed behind the bike. Amazon sells a spring-clamp for mounting your silenced autorifle across the handlebars. If you go with inflatable tires, you need a pump, spare tube and tire repair kit
hey great input, this is just the beginning for this build. working on an SOP and finishing the loadout. ebike surely makes you a target and when moving its hard to scan the area. lots of points to consider
With a mechanical bicycle you might want to stash extra parts but with an e-bike I think it would be important to try to stash a battery and maybe have some solar panels that you can set up or already have set up somewhere else. Just like any piece of equipment we would probably want to have some parts and repair items for it now I don't know which e-bikes are supposed to be the best but even if you can get a couple of cheap models you can have a couple in different places
Great input, having a setup at your shelter site or RON location could be a game changer. E Bikes are basically the same as a traditional bike in terms of parts. The only difference being obviously the battery and the hub motor which is located in the rear wheel.
@@TheSurvivalOutpost People forget , the front wheel on those things , was only for minor steering on paved roads . The actual steering was done automatically , by locking one of the tracks .....like a tank , depending on how far you turned the bike handles . It had a small 4cyl car engion , so it was very easy to work on in the feild .
I wanna get something with pedals, maybe those high range aniioki pedal ebikes, faster than walking and cycling, you can even get one with 2wd which gets you to even more places, all electric components broke and you cant fix them? take em out and you now have a bicycle.
from historical view, US forces have been using motorcycles for a long damn time. Currently I've seen the Kawasaki KLR be the most popular option for special ops
I'm going to pursue EUCs the electric unicycle gets you way further for the same weight and fits in a vehicle better. You can have 4 eucs in the same space as 1 ebike. You can shoot and move on a euc you don't need hands on a euc so you have them free for other tasks👀
the one wheels are badass but if you're needing to transport gear, I don't see it working so well. However for fast and nimble ops, I can see it being a great asset. how well do they perform offroad?
@@TheSurvivalOutpost there is a guy that does jumps on them off road they got some crazy powerful ones. My plan for the euc is to treat it like light infantry carry a ruck sack. If you can carry everything you need walking with a backpack you can do that on a euc. Chochs channel does some good off road testing of these things. I see massive potential one of these days I'll buy one to put my theory to the test. But imagine the ability to break contact and flank someone extremely fast these EUCs can go 70 mph and accelerate fast.
nice very nice, yeah rolling with an assault pack and weapon seems excellent. I'll check out Chochs and would be cool if you share an SOP once you get it fielded? I'm working on a SOP for the ebike and getting great input from a friend who just got back from front line service in Ukraine.
@@TheSurvivalOutpost nice yeah I was in Afghanistan. I think a fast and light force would have been more useful in Afghanistan. We once had a guy in place an ied behind us because we took so long clearing the road to the objective. Definitely want to be in and out quick the more time you are on objective the more likely you get artillery on your position or back up arrives. Generation kill got it right when that officer was like violence of action will work on that airfield. It's true (granted the enemy had abandoned the airfield) but it would still apply if it had a guard presence because all that equipment on the base has a spinup time it's not ready right away so the faster you can get in the less you gotta deal with. I'm a big violence of action proponent.
hey thanks for sharing your real world experience. i'm also a big fan of violence of action...and hey another detail to consider here is drones and potentially pairing them with a squad on ebikes or eucs. currently working on an SOP for the bike which I'll share in future content.
That's a pricey knife, i'm into FMA filipino martial arts I mostly know how to find barong swords on a budget or machetes/knives. But I love that Viking swords , that sword i would recommended everyone to get since you can slash and thrust with those swords.

How does the e-bike handle an EMP? What do you do to charge it when the grid is down? What is it’s range? Quit using terms the average guy has no idea what you are talking about! Lose the head band!

thanks! got any sources to share? thoughts on solar panel charging?
hub motors also require less maintenance right? they dont seem to require a chain or a belt.
Pretty cool setup. Seen similar in the RV/VanLife community, using the Ebikes to make supply runs and avoid moving their RV from camp.
Whoever made the thumbnail has earned my respect! Beautiful!!!

Yep it’s definitely a tool to be used with intention
@@TheDankFarmer The bike has to be charged, you may or may not get enough time or daylight to get it done. Then all you have is a 70 lb. bicycle.
Use the battery to get out of dodge, then if no real prospect of recharging it again ditch it to reduce the weight of the bike.

Well, not with _that_ attitude!

Would be nice to have solar panels that you could roll up in the frame.. to charge the bike.
Dig it
EMP attacks would also complicate things.
Yes they could but typically from what I understand, EMP is most dangerous to larger electrically powered items. And indeed EMP is a big edge case.
@@TheSurvivalOutpost maybe the frame could shield EMP's if they engineerd it
An electrically grounded steel storage container could make a decent faraday cage for your ebike and other sensitive electronics.
