Absolutely superb. UFO was, and remains, one of the best TV shows ever created. And we should never forget the genius behind it: Gerry Anderson, without whom my life, and that of possibly millions of others, would have been considerably less fun. Thank you so much.

@@redled2677 I remember this series when I was in Junior High School. later later I was able to get part of the series on Laser disc at HMV before they close the stores in the U.S. . Roku TV on the Filmrise SCI-FI They do show this series.
One of my favorite actors ever. RIP, Ed Bishop.
This was a real treat, thank you! As a child I found the ideas and special effects of UFO really exciting and inspiring, and it still seemed amazingly futuristic in the mid-80s! RIP Gerry Anderson.

I love this show!! We are watching it now on Blu Ray. Wish they had continued with it in to further seasons.
As fresh today as when it first aired.Goes to prove how Gerry and Sylvia and all the Century 21 were ahead of their time.
There was one more craft that hid in space junk and could cripple a passing shuttles. I have General Strakers permission to reveal this!
I loved watching this show. it was interesting and fun. Oh, as a teenaged boy, I LOVED those purple haired girls on the moon base, especially Lt. Ellis.... WOW!

Any plans to go really niche and do a Tech Talk on 'Project S.W.O.R.D.'? Always a favourite part of TV21 comic for me, and I had a lot of the toys. The annual is awesome, too.

@@ACtheLegend - It's probably darker than even Captain Scarlet in tone: an actual 'End of the world' scenario. It's division of the populace into basically the 'useful' and the 'useless', actually frightened me when I read the stories. The idea that people lived in huge camps, and all the resources were running out because of a global catastrophe, was terrifying in the late 1960's, and isn't any less so now. The good guys trying to save everyone, or at the very least, trying to get more time, and the 'Casuals' stupidly trying to stop them... Sounds rather prescient. On the plus side, was the hardware, which nowadays looks to me, at least to be the Thunderbirds gear, but turned up to eleven. The Scramble Bug, The Sand Flea, The Nuclear Ferry - I'd loved to have seen them on a TV show.

Why do they show a photo of Ed Bishop instead of Straker with his silver hair?
Because this is set later in Straker’s life...
FWIW: My ONLY real criticism of this show was the Moonbase Interceptors. They were not *bad,* but they looked too _"aerodynamic"_ to me.
I have seen online drawings {and models} of an earlier[?] design of the interceptors, which _vaguely_ resembled the USA's Gemini spacecraft. That, being less aerodynamic, seemed a bit more realistic to me.
What on Earth, or elsewhere, could be the use of the decorative chain on the alien's spacesuit?
Groovie series, I think it should have led into space 1999..
Hard to watch because of the huge number of commercials.
TH-cam seems to get worse for that every day. If you skip to the last second, play and then go back to the start that sometimes fools it into removing them.
I didn't see one single ad, but I had to pause it early on, so maybe that fooled the algorithm???
@@ACtheLegend it's really annoying when ads pop up literally mid sentence!
@@Neil070 agreed, no idea how the algorithm decides where to put them.
Ad blocker extensions and NoScript, at MajorGeeks, GitHub or FileHippo. Once installed, refresh screen once or twice, to get the extensions to 'catch up' and intercept ads.
Good to know that Joe 90's dad is 'authorised personnel'.

Very well done, i like the format, however, i dont think aliens are hostile, these " attacks " never happened, as far as i know.
That's because SHADO did such a great job protecting us :)
Since they self-destructed after 48 hours in Earth's atmosphere how could anybody know anything about their interiors?

Jon couldn't have been more knowledgeable about Straker's character, or more sincere in his praise for Ed's performance during the recording session, there's definitely nothing disrespectful here, but whether or not you like it is of course up to you.
I see it as a loving tribute. Jon C. is a highly regarded and much "in demand" performer, recruiting him is a bit of a coup. No different to David Bradley playing William Hartnell's "Doctor"
They knew exactly what the flying objects were and called them UFOs?
They didn't though, they only ever saw them from the outside.

"God" is pagan name, it's from the name Gad, Gad in the bible was a Babylonian God of fortune. Google it! The real Creator YHWH l believe may have been an Extraterrestrial that came to earth thousands of years ago, and according to the Bible's book of Revelation will be back again one day.

Too bad he allowed moon base to become nothing more than a nuclear waste dumping ground after the war. At least he sent his best man, John Koenig to oversee the issues. I hope he can sort it out....
@@huntercallan1458 Shado Moonbase became an auxillary research post for the scientists on Alpha. I'm sure Straker would have seen the poetry in an instrument of war becoming a force for peace.
Or maybe Gen. Henderson didn't die. He probably just retired.

UFO was one of the best shows ever! The alien craft were fantastic!
Gerry Anderson was a genius. i love his productions. In France we did not saw a lot of UFO TV serie, but i finally got DVDs and recently BR. The TV serie is really good and still look amazing,with good actors, especially in BR, as the fabulous space 1999 (cosmos 1999 in France, better know in France than UFO).
After watching a few more episodes, I think this is still my favorite one of the series. There is a lot of storytelling as well as mystery in this episode.

As SHADO is a secret organisation would you be able to Moonbase through a powerful telescope from Earth?
These are great little features. But kind of surprised it wasn't an olderEd Bishop doing voiceover, because as an I.pression it's not up to Culshaw's usual standard.
Would have been somewhat difficult to ask Ed to do it.
Is there going to be a briefing on the end of the UFO war?
If ever a program needed a serious reboot obviously in keeping with the original plan then UFO has got to be alone at the top of the tree- especially with the original sound track- can’t for the life of me figure out why it’s not been done !!

Naw...they were not inpervious to attack. In fact, they were very fragile ( unusual for a sci fi alien ship ) . Like a jellyfish, easy to destroy, but they have a deadly sting.

Those panels on the UFO's look suspiciously like guitar picks.
A modern version could be within the laws of physics by having the aliens coming from a cold nearly dead planet in the Kiuper belt.
By the way SHADO must have found a way of breaking the speed of light because they had a satellite follow a saucer back to the alien planet - Closeup

@@ACtheLegend Yes of course - the weight savings would have made all the difference :). I love the series but the amount of energy need to approach the speed of light is mind boggling so I can't imagine any race would want to travel light years just to 'borrow' some human parts.
The chemical rocket used in Closeup wouldn't even be able to reach a tiny fraction of the speed of light - let alone greatly surpass ( with or without a passenger).

Why the wiggly sound line at the bottom? It is distracting and unnecessary and, for me, makes the video element of this unwatchable.
It's just for effect. Could always cover it with a piece of paper or tape.
@@ACtheLegend It's a bad effect. That's my point. Unnecessary and distracting. Adds nothing. And, indeed, detracts if I have to hold a but of paper in front of my screen just to watch something.

@@malcolmbacchus866 aesthetic choice to tie the whole thing together as one in-universe package. That's evidently just a feature of how they present information in the alternate timeline in which the series takes place.
