Unfortunately my buddy likes to hide from the limelight. But, if you ever do make it up here we have a pretty good network of friends and coworkers who are quite the characters and have some incredible stories to tell.
Well done and very enjoyable. We have a Casita and makes me want to head north. Thank you for sharing your adventures with those of us that can only dream of such places.
Glad you enjoyed it Steve! Those fiberglass trailers sure make for an enjoyable trip no matter where you are. Hope you are able to get out in yours soon!
Thank you for the story! Great story telling! Much needed during these times of physical isolation. As my “walkabout” from Nova Scotia, James Bay, to Tuktoyaktuk then Kenai, Alaska is put off for another year (REALLY glad I did not start out last month), I, we all, needed the mental distraction. Past pandemics have created calculus and defined gravity. I’m working on making little breads fresh every day! A skill I can use on my trip. As I discuss my bread making techniques and conundrums with my refrigerator and toaster, I have produced some good ones and have started to develop an understanding of the art. Feels good. My fear is not that this social distancing has me talking to appliances, but that someday they may answer and give me advice. 😬 Refrigerator agrees. Here is to good advice and good stories 😃 Thanks!
Glad you enjoyed the narrative form Mike. Videos with storytelling are our favorite to make. For some reason I thought I couldn't combine storytelling with tips and tricks, but it dawned on me the other day that we could continue to educate while still weaving a narrative into these videos. Love the comment about calculus and defined gravity coming out of pandemics. I could have benefited in college from calculus not coming into existence, but I do see it's value :) Our family is a big fresh produce daily family. This social distancing has meant less trips to the grocery store. Which, like you said has been a bit of a blessing because it is broadening our cooking skills. One of our goals this camping season is to increase the quality of our cooking outdoors. This time at home has definitely given me the chance to try out some new recipes. Our refrigerator doesn't talk to us yet, but my brother in-law's lets you see inside it without even opening the door. It won't be long! Sorry to hear about your "walkabout" being postponed. When these things happen in our life, we typically look at each other and say "it must have been for a reason." For us we thought this was finally going to be "the season" no awful pregnancies where May loses weight, no torn shoulders, no second pregnancy where May loses weight... But, we are still hoping this spring/summer will all work out. And in the meantime we have a trailer restoration project to work on in the backyard! Take care Mike, thanks as usual for all your support of the channel.
Glad you enjoyed this Brad. These type of videos are the ones we really enjoy making. They are all fun, but these ones allow us to feel a bit more creative and expressive.
I enjoyed your videos very much. When I had a pop-up tent trailer i never cooked inside but took the stove out and hooked it to the side to cook. I never used the sink either. Now I have a teardrop without a sink and plan to cook in the back or maybe still cook on a picnic table. That's when and if I can get away this year, this was supposed to be "the year" to finally get it out to explore. Stay safe.
Glad you enjoyed the video Lynne. You sound a lot like us in terms of this was supposed to be "the year." We keep saying that every year and then we get pregnant, tear a shoulder, get pregnant again.... We truly hope this will be the year for you and many, we are praying that this will all pass sooner than we think. But, based on what we have been hearing lately, it sounds like we will all be hunkering down for a bit longer. Thanks for sharing about how you utilized your pop-up. We hear this from quite a few folks, plus quite a few who say they don't use their toilets either, if their small trailer has one. Lynne have we ever asked you what type of teardrop you own? We are always curious to see what everyone is using out there. Stay safe out there as well Lynne!
@@PlayingwithSticks My teardrop is a home built but not by me. The man who built it did an excellent build and you'd think he read my mind. It's almost exactly what I wanted. It's a 5 x 8 Benroy style with no frills, two doors with windows and screens, a Fantastic fan and cupboard storage inside. The "kitchen" in back is a counter top with cupboards and drawers underneath and a shallow cupboard up above the counter. We have a few LED lights inside and out that run off a battery and it's wired for shore power.
@@lynnef3297 Thanks for sharing Lynne. Sounds very similar to ours. But, all the features we wish ours had. 5X8 instead of 4X8, drawers, LED lights, Fantastic Fan. Sounds like you are like us in that you like keeping it simple.
Glad you enjoyed this one Anne. Not a lot of folks get to see this video. We are always excited to hear when someone stumbles across it. These are our favorite style of videos to make.
I've never owner an Ulu, but have used my Gransfors Bruks Mini Hatchet in that capacity as it is about perfect! That apart, we tend to have and use kitchens in campers due to lousy weather. Beautiful scenery, you really have an eye for lovely views, great videography too!
Darn! Now we have to come up with $150 to buy one of those hatchets. They look incredible. I think up here we get a bit "spoiled by the lousy weather." If that can be a thing...It is so common we actually do everything we can to get out in it. Eventually you don't even realize you are playing in bad weather the more you do it. Our saying up here is "there is no such thing as poor weather, just poor clothing" And often times it is the poor weather that makes these videos look better. Gives them a fun mood. Glad you are enjoying the videos. Really appreciate the videography comment as well. Makes me want to keep learning and striving to get better.
I have a T@b 320 CS-S with the kitchen in the clam shell back. I love it except in the blowing rain. I didn't want to be cooking in my sleeping quarters.
Love that little trailer you have. Somebody on our off road teardrop trailer video just posted a comment yesterday about how it would be nice to add fabric or mesh to the sides of the galley. Have you ever thought about making some sort of protection for those blowing rain days? Sounds like that would be a fun little side project for us. Unfortunately, unlike your nice sized teardrop our galley is so that the trunk/door overhang really doesn't protect us at all from the elements. We also agree with the cooking in the sleeping quarters statement. We do it on the days where we just want to hunker down inside for a bit, but our first choice is the great outdoors. Thanks for sharing LaDonna! Hopefully all this will pass and you will get out camping soon.
That's pretty awesome one of your buds is of the Tsimpshean tribe; which is also the tribe I belong to. I grew up in a small town in Alaska called Metlakatla (near Ketchikan). Yes, I grew up with her daughter Marcella; her and I were in the same class. Right now we are looking at the Hiker Trailers or the Bend Teardrops. Also actively looking at used options as they popup. Really looking forward to showing my little one all the enjoyment I had in the outdoors; with some modern conveniences of course :-)
