My gf and I had a really bad experience when we went to Greece about 7 years ago. We were only about 22 at the time and had been saving up for months to go on this “fancy” holiday. On our second day, a man (who was also from the UK, like us) proceeded to come over to us in front of EVERYONE around the pool and tell us that we were making everyone uncomfortable and that “there are children around”. We weren’t doing anything wrong, just floating around the pool together. Not one single person there stuck up for us. We bawled our eyes out and never went back to the pool. Ruined our holiday and tbh we’ve never been the same since. 28 year old us would love to go back and stick up for ourselves but at the time we were so young and naive, happy and in love. He burst that bubble real quick. All these years later and I’m still too afraid to hold her hand in public no matter where we are.

The ‘i wanna hold your wand’ part was literally perfection. She’s an amazing singer and you’re an amazing film editor/director. It was lovely “meeting” becky and I’m beyond happy you felt safe and seen in my country (Portugal). As a bi girl myself, it really was a gradual thing to happen, but the main cities like Lisbon and Porto do feel like queer safe spaces now. I hope one day you visit Porto, which is my city ✨

To put it simply Shannon, This is your best video to date. Thank you for letting us experience just a small part of your world. I agree completely that internet has changed from when I first started following your channel and I can see how it must be so hard to navigate, when in my opinion it hasn’t changed for the better. I do hope however that you can find a way to post that makes you happy in the future but if not I’m sure many of us that follow this channel would understand if you stopped and focused on other projects.

Honestly there are not quite words for the whole segment in the video with Becky's singing! The combination of the clips chosen to accompany that moment. Her in the window and how incredibly in love you can just feel her be through the screen. The way she looks at you. The way you so beautifully capture her. How you can feel your love towards _her_ through the camera lens pointed at her throughout the whole video. But I'm also specifically amazed by the moment she lets down her hair and the music comes in and merges with her singing; it's so absolutely stunningly beautiful. Both her, the shot, her and your radiating love in it, the audio at that moment, the editing, just all of it: Stunning.
Thank you for sharing your trip and being so open. It looked like an amazing time. Becky has an absolutely beautiful voice, I could so happily listen to her sing more.

I felt the "I could be not safe in this place" so much. With my gf and me it's the other way around. She had ex-gf's where she could learn how much you can show your queer relationship in public while still being safe and she has a good sensor for this. On the other hand me, who only had one bf in the past, is very afraid of people in public who see us as a queer couple. I'm working on it to be more chill about it because i don't want to be so afraid that i can't hold her hand. It's a long process. She's very patient with me and when she sees that I don't feel as safe as she does we don't hold hands in public. She knows how hard it is. She just had more time to learn it and I still need that time. It's just so interesting to see how different people have this kind of sensor in public than me. We haven't travelled yet bc of money and her homophobic parents but I'm looking forward to it so we can have the same amazing experience as you two had :')

it broke my heart the 1st time my gf realised that we couldn't always be "normal" in public... I think it was over a year into our relationship, she always thought i was being paranoid and silly until one incident. Though both safe it made us even more aware of our surroundings when showing affection towards each other. This happened in London as well.
I'd like to believe I'm in a safe environment here where I live but when you mentioned London my blood ran cold because my girlfriend and I want to visit London... Maybe we'll stick to holding hands and hope that people think we're just really close female friends... I don't know now.
I’ve definitely had a few uncomfortable encounters in London when it’s particularly late or in clubs etc but I would say in general it’s one of the places I feel most at ease as a lesbian. My girlfriend and I live in London and often show affection to each other in public and haven’t encountered any issues. Which isn’t to say it’s perfect or it’ll never happen but just to say I do feel pretty safe here on a day to day basis.

@@StormGreenwoodMusic I 100% agree, love london and normally feel very safe. I think maybe that is why this particular incident was so shocking. I have had more issues with just being a girl in london than a wlw. but even then, thats rare compared to other places ive lived.

I can relate so much with being uncomfortable and unsafe in public wherever I go and whomever I'm with. But I'm so grateful that I'm surrounded by people who keep reminding me that I shouldn't feel that way because nobody really cares and even if they do, we shouldn't mind about what others think about us cause they're irrelevant. What relevant is what and who makes you happy and you should be more focus on that

I’ve been watching your channel since like 2015. I have loved watching your growth in editing and in film in general. The introduction of the video had an immaculate flow. The middle of the video was absolutely chef’s kiss. Showcasing your photography skills and the scenery as well as the bits of comedy, just wow.
Also thank you for introducing Becky to us. Those that have been here for awhile have an idea of how much your privacy means to you now. I hope we can all exceed your expectations of being respectful.
