Pretty much nailed it. Amazing. Would love more videos like this. No one really does this but it is more educational than most "make big dubstep bass tutorial #4000" or something like that. Recreating sounds shows way better how you archieve certain sounds because you have a clear goal.
Thank you so much for making this video. I know next to nothing about sound design or Logic but feel like I could still follow what you were doing here. I kept thinking "He's done" but then you would make it sound even MORE like the original. That helped me hear nuances I didn't even know were there! Gonna check out the rest of your vids now! GREAT JOB!!!
Such a helpful video! Thanks. It seems that Serum is really superb for this kind of sound design, especially with all the quality effects on board. I never bothered much with built-in effects in synths, but for sound design it really opens up new spheres.
He heard us/me guys! There it is! Hey Big Z! Please do more sounddesign videos with Serum (Bought it on Splice a few days ago and wanna learn how to create such Sounds)
How do you know what the sound is missing and what qualities are in the original sound that needs to be added to the one you are working on? How did you train your ears to hear those little things? I'm currently working on trying to recreate a kick sound from one of the songs I enjoy but don't even know what is needed to get there.
If you haven't already, check out synth hacker on youtube. He also goes through sound design recreations in a way that teaches you concepts and skills as you follow along.
Awesome! May you could do a remake from a Lost Frequencies Deluxe Mix, like the Recognise Deluxe or the new one: „Beat Of My Heart“, wich will be released soon.
This is class, really helpful big Z bless x does anyone know if you can get sounds for practise?? Like a selection of sounds and you try and make it then read through how the person made it originally or maybe what they pick up on when they hear the sound for the first time, would be really good
Amazing video bro ! I’d love it if you could remake « close your eyes » by Felix Jaehn and VIZE, it came out a few days ago ! Thank you very much for reading
For all the beginners out there! And sorry for being that guy, but you said "Let's make it Mono". Actually you're making the playable voicings Monophonic. As in, you can only play one note at a time. The output is still Stereo. 😄 Sorry again, carry on!
"yo what's good, big z here" - I needed my daily dose of this line
Alex Rome didn’t know you were following the big z boy!

Been doing the music thing since 2015 & this is the first time you've shown up in my YT recommendations... way over due. Good stuff.
This skill of recreating sounds and learing the ins and outs of sound design, is the most boring to learn but most useful skill of them all .
Sound Design video request: Jonas Blue/Retrovision - All Night Long... The drop sound is so gritty and full.. would love to re-create that!

Why are you adding the filter as an effect instead of using the built in filter inside the OSC tab? Is there a difference?
