As a complete novice this crystal clear, and gives even a bit of perspective on the World of bonds and what makes a bond desirable or undesirable. Thankyou great video!

First video I've watched where someone has actually explained what I'm looking at when I look at a chart for a gilt - the running yield quoted in %.

I think for the first time I've understood gilts. I'm thinking of buying bonds/gilts to balance my investment portfolio. Perhaps, it may not be the right time now. Thanks. I'll watch the video again.

The regulator forcing pensions to invest in Gilts is criminal if you ask me. Gilts are in a bubble that is seeing a 300 year high. I wouldn't touch them at all. Definitely not worth the risk. Sooner or later this bubble will burst, as they always do!!!

what if we turn into japan, then they would be a great investment

optionsupdate How much lower do you think they can go? How long can the BoE keep this game up before theyre the only buyer in town? What about inflation risk? Gilts if you ask me are just a return free risk.

Dear Sir (Money Week). Good-evening. How are you? I trust you are well.
Thank you for explaining Gilts. I, still have many questions though: who issues Gilts? Where do I get the ticker?
Thank you for your wonderful video.
    God Bless.
    Lord Francesca Kray.

hello francesca i am well thankyou in reply to your question it is the treasury clerk who issues gilts on behalf of the government...the ticker can be bought from 2 places either from coconut cat or the bond indexes fund...if both these places dont have the ticker please let us know and we will enquire with tyrone am sure he will see to it that u receive his ticker tom tom

It feels like a bit of a pickle to be in. if interest rates on gilts are high (great for us) then that makes government borrowing higher which means taking more out of the economy (cut backs) if gilts are lower (booo for us) this means lower government borrowing more money in the kitty, more services. (in a Utopian world but you get what I mean) BUT less return on our money to spend on what we would like.
