- Algorithmic stablecoin TerraUSD was supposed to maintain its value at $1 with the help of its sister-crypto, Luna. But TerraUSD’s price collapsed to pennies in May, while Luna plunged by more than 99%, wiping out around $40 billion in value. Their creator Do Kwon has been attempting a comeback by relaunching Luna.
WSJ markets reporter Alexander Osipovich joins host Julie Chang to explain the collapse of Do Kwon’s crypto empire and what his second try looks like.

Thing is: If stablecoins work as intended, you shouldn't be able to make any money of it.
If you can create a stablecoin like Terra that creates demand for another token like Luna, you can get rich from the appreciation of the second token. What created demand for Terra was the high yield staking anchor protocol. Kind of like a ponzi scheme fed by an artificially subsidized stablecoin yield program that creates demand for a stablecoin that in turn inflates the price of another token.
