It didn't change. He didn't show full power of his bankai 1000 years ago to Yhwach. He got really old and weakened, like Yhwach managed to 1shot him. His reflexes were so weak compared to his prime that he couldn't even avoid a cut.

Saying an ability is just a plot convenience doesn’t deteriorate from its power, it still exists, it’s still canon. And as for the one shot issue, this is easily debatable, against someone like yama it’s a different story but for a majority of other captains I really don’t see them one shoting him as we already know the Uryu is easily stronger then your average sternritter(quilge states so) and I don’t remember any sternritter one shots
Ulquiorra > barragan Ulquiorra's segunda etapa is really underrated. One of his spears dwarfs las noches in size. So far none of the espada have shown feats close to that, multi-city block level at best. Plus, he can fire multiple spears. To put it into perspective, las noches is much bigger than karakura town to the point where tatsuki can walk to the edge of it in less than an hour. You could see the four pillars they placed at the four corners from anywhere in town. However, a walk to the front door of las noches from the side entrance would take a 3 day walk. And one of ulquiorra's spears is bigger than it.

I dunno about Byakuya, but Yoruichi is surely stronger than Gremmy. He was lucky he fought Kenpachi with no experience in Hohou, so Byakuya and Yoruichi's proficiency in Shunpo would help them kill of Gremmy before he even thinks of some sort of a weapon. Also I believe that Jugram is surely stronger than Ichibei, he would deny all of his made up names and that reincarnation dojo. Other than that list is amazing. It increases spiritual pressure 2-10x far beyond anything the other Espada were capable of which means remember when Aizen got hit by soifons shikai to no effect with segunda etapa the #2 Espada would have his release null.

Other than Coyote Starrk, I think the list is good. Why I think Starrk should be higher is because he removed his own mask, and he never actually went all out against anyone. Ishida was placed way to high on the list, I'd say that he'd be around twenty at the end of the series, and that Starrk would be at 25 or so.
This is a great list, congrats. I have some disagreements but rather I prefer to tell you the good things from the list: The picks for the Honorable Mentions and the motives are excellent, I think the same, only I would add NaNaNa, Hachi (The same case of Orihime), Grimmjow & Nel Time-Skip and Ryuken. I'm glad to see Nemu in this place, she doesn't deserve to be so high in my opinion. The rest is pretty well organized. One of the best lists I've ever seen.
The most underrated character is Tessai tsukabishi, according to this list his is weaker than omaeda. He is the former captain of kidou corps, his lieutenant defeated espada number 2.

I'll point out one of the very few thins i disagreed on, if you allow me to :) I think Urahara is like...da final boss XD He could've at least be higher than the sternritter he did beat (ik ik, with grimmjow's help but still, he had quite the upper hand x)) And also, chars such as Hirako might be quite badass but we didn't get to see their bankai so... anyway thanks and gratz again! i will miss Bleach pretty much!

If toshiro freezes your zanpaktou in his bankai then they can’t use their abilities so I think he should be higher only reason Gerard broke from his ice is because he said he can’t be bound by elemental things from “their world” But ultimately I feel he should be above people like kenpachi who he can react to while trying to transform
Yeah I agree. People who are really fast like Yoruichi , Byakuya and Ichigo can give adult Toshiro some problems tho. Byakuya's upgraded Bankai can give him some problems as well. The blades are too much after the training and they are scattered all around the place with great speed. Toshiro can freeze some of the blades but the other blades that are flying around with great speed can destroy the ice , thus freeing the blades that are frozen.

Adult Toshiro can only freeze Gerard's torso after his head was destroyed by Byakuya's Ikka Senjinka. Read chapter 674, page 11 Senbonzakura kageyoshi was able to block attacks from Gerard's 2nd quincy form which Toshiro stated that calling it a monster would be an understatement. These are all facts from the manga. Chapter 674 , page 11 and chapter 594, page 9 and 10 are all evidence of Byakuya's power level after the RG training.
Logical Creativity Never said that Toshiro could permanently freeze Gerard. And Byakuya only blew up his head, nothing more. He needed Kenpachi and Toshiro freezing/slicing it in order to land a blow. In chapter 668, page 14, before he turned into adult, he said, " From what i have gathered thus far, if i let out every last bit of my power, i should be able to freeze him down to the bone. The difference between adult toshiro and kid toshiro is the ability to negate abilities and the ability to freeze reishi. The size of freezing stays the same only with the exception of Shikai Hyoketsu. In the manga, Adult Toshiro can only freeze something as large as Gerard only with Shikai Hyoketsu and it also took him about 4 seconds or 4 steps. Not to mention that, Shikai Hyoketsu is not an omnidirectional attack. When Toshiro used Shikai Hyoketsu, he said, " i can freeze all matter before me". The keyword "before me" means the direction that he is facing only. Meanwhile, Senbonzakura is an omnidirectional Bankai. Well, you could argue that Hyoten Hyakasso is an omnidirectional attack but it is very very slow. The snow flakes falling down from the sky is just too slow. Thus, It is impossible for Toshiro to freeze all of Senbonzakura's blades because the amount of blades after his training is just too much. Byakuya's current Shikai is his old Bankai.

Also you have seen that there are much more to their shrift like Antithesis not only can switch the damages between the targets, also it reverses any situation between two designated targets. There are still much more to everyone's powers that Kubo has not yet revealed (and which won't ever be). And he could have defeated Yhwach too (which is what Jugram says that he can) like Yhwach erases power of Ichigo and so he can switch Ichigo's powerless state with Yhwach's. You don't know the full potential of "AntiThesis" so don't assume that it can be defeated that quickly. In addition, Uryu fights while being prepared not just charge ahead without any plan.

Ulquiorra at 32 would only make sense if we weren't taking into account his second release. Posh Angry Gamer Ulquiorra’s second release still got stomped by Vasto Lorde Ichigo. Halibel, Barragan, and Starrk are Vasto Lorde’s naturally so ok not sure if he would beat them. As for Toshiro, it was stated and shown that his ice negates the powers and abilities of whatever it freezes, and he can flash freeze all forms matter if he has 4 seconds. Also, something notable is that Shikai Kenpachi, who cut a giant meteor with ease, could barely nick Gerard’s blade pre Vollständig and took damage from it due to its ability, but Tōshirō was able to freeze, cleanly cut, and negate Post Vollständig Gerard’s Blade casually

Ulquiorra's segunda etapa is really underrated. One of his spears dwarfs las noches in size. So far none of the espada have shown feats close to that, multi-city block level at best. Plus, he can fire multiple spears. To put it into perspective, las noches is much bigger than karakura town to the point where tatsuki can walk to the edge of it in less than an hour. You could see the four pillars they placed at the four corners from anywhere in town. However, a walk to the front door of las noches from the side entrance would take a 3 day walk. And one of ulquiorra's spears is bigger than it.

I dunno about Byakuya, but Yoruichi is surely stronger than Gremmy. He was lucky he fought Kenpachi with no experience in Hohou, so Byakuya and Yoruichi's proficiency in Shunpo would help them kill of Gremmy before he even thinks of some sort of a weapon.
Also I believe that Jugram is surely stronger than Ichibei, he would deny all of his made up names and that reincarnation dojo.

Other than Coyote Starrk, I think the list is good. Why I think Starrk should be higher is because he removed his own mask, and he never actually went all out against anyone. Ishida was placed way to high on the list, I'd say that he'd be around twenty at the end of the series, and that Starrk would be at 25 or so.
This is a great list, congrats. I have some disagreements but rather I prefer to tell you the good things from the list:
The picks for the Honorable Mentions and the motives are excellent, I think the same, only I would add NaNaNa, Hachi (The same case of Orihime), Grimmjow & Nel Time-Skip and Ryuken.
I'm glad to see Nemu in this place, she doesn't deserve to be so high in my opinion.

The most underrated character is Tessai tsukabishi, according to this list his is weaker than omaeda. He is the former captain of kidou corps, his lieutenant defeated espada number 2.

Bleach anime today came to change what we understood in the past of the Squad Zero powers. All of them now above Royal Guards and Yamamoto.
They are when they fuse with senjumaru but individually with their own powers they all lose to prime yamamoto (exept ichibei obviously)

If toshiro freezes your zanpaktou in his bankai then they can’t use their abilities so I think he should be higher only reason Gerard broke from his ice is because he said he can’t be bound by elemental things from “their world”
But ultimately I feel he should be above people like kenpachi who he can react to while trying to transform
Yeah I agree. People who are really fast like Yoruichi , Byakuya and Ichigo can give adult Toshiro some problems tho. Byakuya's upgraded Bankai can give him some problems as well. The blades are too much after the training and they are scattered all around the place with great speed. Toshiro can freeze some of the blades but the other blades that are flying around with great speed can destroy the ice , thus freeing the blades that are frozen.
Logical Creativity Adult Toshiro is far above Byakuya’s level. Him and Kenpachi maybe are equal and he would most definitely one-shot Uryuu

Adult Toshiro can only freeze Gerard's torso after his head was destroyed by Byakuya's Ikka Senjinka. Read chapter 674, page 11 Senbonzakura kageyoshi was able to block attacks from Gerard's 2nd quincy form which Toshiro stated that calling it a monster would be an understatement. These are all facts from the manga. Chapter 674 , page 11 and chapter 594, page 9 and 10 are all evidence of Byakuya's power level after the RG training.
Logical Creativity Never said that Toshiro could permanently freeze Gerard. And Byakuya only blew up his head, nothing more. He needed Kenpachi and Toshiro freezing/slicing it in order to land a blow. And even if Toshiro can’t harm Gerard (which i doubt because he cut that huge ass sword like butter) he would freeze and negate Senbonzakura, since he can freeze his surroundings, not only one specific target. Toshiro calling Gerard a monster does not mean anything.

Byakuya waited because he needed an opening in their fight to use Senkei because Senkei abandons defense. Using senkei which abandons defense without an opening is suicidal.
There is no evidence showing that Adult Toshiro can flash freeze his surroundings. In chapter 668, page 14, before he turned into adult, he said, " From what i have gathered thus far, if i let out every last bit of my power, i should be able to freeze him down to the bone. I'm going to need some time though. Please help me with this". It is stated by Toshiro himself that he needed some time to freeze something as large as Gerard. The difference between adult toshiro and kid toshiro is the ability to negate abilities and the ability to freeze reishi. The size of freezing stays the same only with the exception of Shikai Hyoketsu.
In the manga, Adult Toshiro can only freeze something as large as Gerard only with Shikai Hyoketsu and it also took him about 4 seconds or 4 steps. Not to mention that, Shikai Hyoketsu is not an omnidirectional attack. When Toshiro used Shikai Hyoketsu, he said, " i can freeze all matter before me". The keyword "before me" means the direction that he is facing only. Meanwhile, Senbonzakura is an omnidirectional Bankai.
Well, you could argue that Hyoten Hyakasso is an omnidirectional attack but it is very very slow. The snow flakes falling down from the sky is just too slow. Thus, It is impossible for Toshiro to freeze all of Senbonzakura's blades because the amount of blades after his training is just too much. Byakuya's current Shikai is his old Bankai.

a little more consideration for squad 0 isn't because they got beaten that they're weak, it's just that Ywasch's bodyguard is completely monstrous. In short, the members of squad 0 are stronger than the captains of Gotei 13.
That’s a statement tho there’s no feats backing it up we can’t just assume that their stronger when the captains defeated the sternritters that squad 0 couldn’t beat

Ulquiorra is definitely the strongest Espada. No questions asked, it's been scaled MANY times before.
Grimmjow, Nel and Harribel has surpassed him later on in the story if you read the CFYOW novel, even Luppi has surpassed him.

Idiots saying Ishida should be lower... Go analyze it properly and then come and argue. His Antithesis is powerful than those Bankais. Hurt yourself and switch it with the enemy. Also you have seen that there are much more to their shrift like Antithesis not only can switch the damages between the targets, also it reverses any situation between two designated targets. There are still much more to everyone's powers that Kubo has not yet revealed (and which won't ever be). And he could have defeated Yhwach too (which is what Jugram says that he can) like Yhwach erases power of Ichigo and so he can switch Ichigo's powerless state with Yhwach's. You don't know the full potential of "AntiThesis" so don't assume that it can be defeated that quickly. In addition, Uryu fights while being prepared not just charge ahead without any plan.

As for Toshiro, it was stated and shown that his ice negates the powers and abilities of whatever it freezes, and he can flash freeze all forms matter if he has 4 seconds. Also, something notable is that Shikai Kenpachi, who cut a giant meteor with ease, could barely nick Gerard’s blade pre Vollständig and took damage from it due to its ability, but Tōshirō was able to freeze, cleanly cut, and negate Post Vollständig Gerard’s Blade casually
