Conductivity is indicative of ion content in the soil and not moisture. The level of nutrients in the soil at a given time will alter the conductivity measurement while the soil moisture content may be the exact same.
It might not be an accurate measure but since watering is really guesswork it would probably be effective enough, also the nutrients only really have an effect when the soil is moist, when it’s dry the soil will have a lot of air pockets in it which drop down the conductivity a lot
Moisture sensor alert would die fast here due to lack of rain. I need 2nd step to then water plant a certain amount of water. I need 6 plant setup with 1 arduino/wifi. Additional 1per month fertilizer for each plant.
About how many soil moisture sensor can one arduino uno carry in analog mode? (because my friend said that if theres too many, the readings might be lagged and not read at the same time interval)
hello, i'm new to arduino so apologize if my question is basic but i'm having difficulty getting this project to work and am wondering if someone can help! I find the circuit diagram provided on the website is not working. Has anyone had any luck? It appears that Eli's photo of his circuit does not quite match the diagram, but it's hard to tell from the photo how to follow it exactly. If anyone's had any luck it would be great to see a clearer photo or a link to your results. Thanks!
These moisture sensors have a nasty tendency to degrade quickly and have to be replaced often, especially the ones that have the conductors exposed to the water instead of encased in rubber. :-\
yes, I've done that and then some. I live in a greenhouse, literally, I live in a Trees & Plants, home. VERY ALIVE!! I love it!

Might want a motor system for the sensors as well, keeping a pice of metal in the soil for long term soil monitoring is sure to destroy the sensor

This is an idea I was thinking about. Excellent! Thank you!

I am old school new school. I use a calendar, on my computer.
if I'm gonna use on sensor what should I do?

Very nicely done. Thank you for the project.
i was just looking for one, Thanks :p
ca an I use different sensor with this setup and same code?
Succulents really don’t need much water

Carbon or platinum plated electrodes will increase the longevity of the electrodes.
