This has to be one of my absolute favorite north country flies it has everything you could ask for in a wet fly little bits of flash contrast in color and very buggy not to mention a close representation to the grannom beautifully tied cheers
A lovely fly, but it brings up a question ...is there some reason why the fly heads are finished so close to the hook eye? I'm thinking about all the Catskill style dry flies I've seen & tied that leave space between the head and the hook eye for a turle knot. Is it just tradition?
I have not seen one bad fly he has made they are all just great

The flies were originally dressed to horsehair leaders and droppers prior to the invention of the eyed hook.
