@@JakubDiegoTokaj He's just on another level. His layering and counterpoint and how he uses dissonance, strange chord progressions... It's so unique and I wonder what inspired him when those around him seemed to be writing much simpler music.
@@Kathayne636He's pretty much the most talented black metal musician/composer from that generation. Considering how he pushed the envelope even further later in his solo albums I guess he has many various inspirations ranging from classical music to extreme metal. I'd even go as far as stating that he's one of the most extraordinary musicians in metal music ever. Would love to chat with him one day and 'pick his brains' on his approach to composing and playing.
@@Kathayne636I hate that this is the only album ever like this I agree with everything you've said (although Adversary had some similar parts and the music of Hannes Grossmann in Obscura clearly draws subconsciously from this imo)
This is incredz… This record was looked down upon when it came out… Always thought it was absolute genius and perhaps very personal to I. Thank you for this
I immediately fell in love with this album the moment I heard it. And I couldn't stop listening to this track specifically. It never got boring for me and I thought I need to pay homage to it by covering it here. Thanks for the feedback, I'm glad you liked it! :)
Thank you so much man! To be fair, the only way for me to play it, was to kind chill out and not think a lot :D It sure is complex, Ihsahn is a genius and the last Emperor record is one of my all time favorite pieces of music.
@@JakubDiegoTokaj Seriously. I actually think it's one of the most underrated pieces of music ever. The whole thing is like a blackened Wagnerian opera.
@@AbrasionUK Well, depending on perspective it might be seen as severely underrated. Fortunately though Ihsahn is being praised as one of the most gifted in the scene and he's doing great with his solo career. This record, along with his solo debut "The Adversary", are my favortie works of his. Even though it's tough to pick as there are many great tracks and albums in his discography. I also recently came back to Peccatum (a project he had with his wife) that was something great as well.
@AbrasionUK I was thinking about doing "Grey" as well, my second favorite track from this one. Full album would be a huge undertaking as I'd need to get it all down by ear and there are many parts where four (or even more?) different lines are being played at the same time. Nevertheless "Grey" would probably be the first one I'd get down to, mostly because of the main riff to be honest :D It's so damn good.
I can fall asleep tonight rest assured that metal is in good hands as we have here. Spot on harmonics. Thanks for sharing and I'm looking forward to more. Awesome man
Ohh man, sick cover🤘 First time i've ever seen someone cover this song on guitar. Prometheus is by far my favourite Emperor album because of the guitars, the way the three guitar parts fit together tickles me in exactly the right place. Ulcerate has that quality for me, too. If I could see Emperor perform the entire album live like they're doing with their first two, I could imagine being happy with that being the last live metal gig I ever saw.
Oh man, I freaking love Ulcerate!! And yeah, Prometheus is a league of its own when it comes to how guitars are composed (to the point I found it difficult to pick which 'voice' should I play here, all of them are interesting on their own). This song is my favorite, but this album has no weak tracks, might need to do more of it someday. Glad someone appreciates it as much as I do, and I'm glad you liked the cover too :) Thank you for taking your time to watch it!!
@Jakub Tokaj you're clearly proficient enough to play all three guitar parts, I reckon you could nail playing, recording and editing those parts into the one video, hearing it all at once would be something special 🤘
@@objetpetita I played through all of them, it's the editing of the video that I really dislike :D It takes a lot of time and I'm not that good at it yet. And I think it migh use multiple camera angles to make it more interesting, so it adds more work on top of it. Anyway I'll look into it, it'd definitely be a lot better than current video, and I really love this album so I'd enjoy the playing part at least :D
To umiejscowienie kamerki i światła dużo lepsze! Jak się ogoliłeś to przez chwilę myślałem, że to starsze wideo :D sztos, uwielbiam jak po Tobie widać kiedy czujesz numer, oczy zamknięte i ogień, keep it up mordo!
This composition is absolute genius.
My favorite from this album, although the whole thing is just mindblowing. I love Ihsahn's work, he's phenomenal.

thanks man! Long live the Emperor!
Holy shit dude you absolutely nailed that. Pure flow state. And this is such a rich complex guitar piece anyway.
