I've got a tournament coming up. I skipped training yesterday to take care of my family life.
    I'm 100% ok with that.
I want to get better at fighting, but I'm not willing to sacrifice my family wellbeing to progress as fast as possible.

I get that. I've got family, businesses, and other obligations. It's always about finding the best balance for you.

Most people are not as good as they think they are. Some are better than they think they are

@@rscottweaver Thank you! I'm honored if anyone considers me one of the people they want to fight on their bucket list. I'm glad the video helped and good to hear from you as well.

I suck at fighting. There's the saying in the navy seals something about rather having a member that is high trust but isn't as good compared to a best of the best that you can't trust. So if you aren't the best of the best, you can work on things that are in your control. Listening and teamwork.

1-10 scale. Footwork 5-10, Strength 7-10, Weapon handling 7-10, Gas tank 6-10, List Awareness 5-10, List Strategy 4-10. Total Noob, but I am working on it, and really loving the sport. The people are Awesome and welcoming. I had to really take a look at what I wanted from this sport, since the price tag is so high, and I'm an older guy with a family. Videos like this one are very helpful, and would love to see one where you go through the day of a fight meet. "A Day in the Life of a Modern Knight" as it were. Thanks for all that you do.

Thank you! That's a great idea for a video and I'll definitely do that! Also great job listing your strengths and areas to improve. I may steal this 1-10 scale format and make a video around this as well. I think it would be valuable to do this kind of self-assessment and then also have your team/coach/ trusted fighters rate you as well.

@@woodchuckknight7820 I'll shoot that over to our Chapter Captain. I fight with a new team out of Montana, and we all have a lot to learn. With Regionals in April, I guess we shall see what a year of work has got us.

I just want to be better than I was yesterday. Last month. Last week. I look at this sport as ever learning and ever growing. I want to be a better pro fighter and a better melee tank eventually.

I own a gym, I train most every day, I find it very hard to find people who can kick my ass, but you know what? I don't think I'm the best, not by a long shot! I love finding people who can beat me, those are the people I want to train with the most. I think it's important to be humbled every once in a while whether you're a fighter, or a coach, or any person in general. Good video, thanks for sharing.

Oh yeah. I don't make a living off of armored combat. It's a hobby. I don't think anyone makes a living off of this except for those who own a gym and training facility. Even then they make their money off the gym not them fighting. I work full time for a university and I also own a woodworking company and teach firearm instruction.
