Nice one thanks Luke! Not seen any Mackerel down here until 2 weeks ago, when we were out on the shingle and big shoals were appearing every 20mins or so, chasing a 1ft wide carpet of baitfish up on the shore. I love them to eat so had 6 decent ones on a lure rod for the pan & put the tiddlers back. Wish I'd tried for more, as the Wife gave half of them away when I got home! Stay safe & well! 👍👍
Great fun on the lure rod, I feel that you tend to get bigger ones on a single lure instead of feathers. My other did the same, half ended up going to the neighbour. The rest i ended up making a mackerel and chickpea curry which went down a treat 👍
Well done Luke. I couldn't believe the size of the shoals at The Burrels yesterday. Biggest shoals I have ever seen and less than 12 feet out I was dropping my set up into the shoals rather than casting out they were that close!
It's amazing when it's like this crazy sized shoals and fun fishing on light gear. I'd love to see some aerial and under water shots, I bet there are some rather big bass and even some non native species amongst them.
I did see a bloke down the beach getting in a blow up doughnut, I bet it was like one of those spa's where the little fish nibble your feet😂 I bet it feels most bizarre being in the middle of a shoal
Think they're probably gone now. The wind has coloured the water, I have caught them in November off the beach if the conditions are there. This year was amazing - but a fluke I reckon. Don't expect it every year (or any year) having fished for 50+ years I've seen the shoals decimated!
I've always been under the assumption that the human hand can almost give the mackerel burns to their skin and they very rarely recover from it. Mind you I wouldn't know how they would test the theory properly but it would be interesting to see some proof. Thanks for watching 👍

Put mackerel back gently, they should be OK. I have had no problems, don't be leave the bit about touching them. Thanks
