Sir ekh doubt hai.. ie, why does products like alcohol, tobacco, cigarettes and petroleum products does not come under GST.?? why are the state governments given the authority to charge tax on these products? If we understand closely we observe that it is one of the biggest source of income to government, then why GST isn't charged on them??? Plz do reply
In my opinion governments don't charge tax on alcohol ,tobacco , cigarettes ,and petroleum products because if governments charges on GST then in india has big lose on GDP that's why governments using vat on those products.
