    These are great bags for fishing and are excellent value. I purchased the 20L and the 36L models as I had a feeling the smaller pack would be too short for my 6' 2" frame - which proved to be the right decision. I've now given the 20L bag to my young Grandson, who's just getting into fishing and use the 36L myself.
    From my previous experience with hiking backpacks, the rubberised interior won't keep the rain at bay and will eventually break down and fall off. However, the tough Cordura outer material will last a lifetime, so no worries there (likewise the zips).
    The sweat inducing back system makes them unsuitable for proper hiking IMHO and the waist belts are poorly positioned and uncomfortable, so I disposed of those.
    The one thing that should have been fitted is a chest strap (I fitted my own) - much more useful than a waist belt in a pack of this size!
    The 36L model does have a useful feature, not found on the smaller bag - velcro fasteners sewn on the ends of the webbing straps to stop any excess material flapping about. I've not seen this idea before but it works a treat!
    Overall these are excellent packs for fishing and general use but I wouldn't take to the hills with one.

    • @jamesrhymes9860
      @jamesrhymes9860 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeh he didn't say they were for hiking?

    • @graemeelliott8276
      @graemeelliott8276 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Oh I agree, Mark didn't say that but plenty of folks use them for hiking, as shown by other youtube reviews of these packs. As an experienced long distance hiker, I just prefer something with a better back system for that particular discipline.

    True about tackle manufacturers not understanding carry systems, they still think wheel barrows are 21st century. I use my Berghaus Centruion (bought in 1983 from Cotswold Camping when it was a shed behind the bridge behind the water parks). Daiwa holdalls have a reasonable design but because it is a holdall it is crap for carrying on its shoulder strap

    • @francolinobasco
      @francolinobasco  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Certainly Andy, not only do they not understand carry systems, generally speaking their rucksacks feel like you're carrying a box on your back with some afterthoughts tossed in for bad measure lol.

    Great video mark.definily info people need to see. Have the same mil-tec for several years for roving especially piking. Quality is brillant and yeah way better than main stream fishing bands for quality and usability. As a standard bag it's perfect. I've added a flask pouch and small pouch for oils that I've attached the molle.no mess inside the bag and I can replace pouch for a fiver if too sniffy😳😁 The way the bag can be used is nearly endless. Thanks for video never thought to put my cutter tools etc in the bladder section. Always great to get good ideas on how to do things. Cheers 👍

      Cool video mark, I have one of the miltec rucksacks, had it about 12 years 30ltr, there can be called assault packs too, same thing, they are bombproof, unhooking mat goes on the bottle with straps or using the side compression straps, plus what you do, banksticks through the molle, I do have molle pouchs, that I can attach, if I need more water bottle carrying ability, or other gear to add, I swap between my different rucksacks, have afew, only one named brand ,esp, but others military surplus or other, plus my hiking packs too, that German ruck is also called a German mountain rucksack too if your looking for them ones, great video again my friend, good health and safe travels my friend, cheers craig

    Many thanks for in depth review Mark and I agree with you regarding the so called fishing rucksacks of which I have tried a few, most well overpriced. You have got me thinking about purchasing the Mil-Tec but I am not sure if the 20L would be big enough. Is the 20L big enough for your style of roving or would you have been better off with the 36L.

    • @francolinobasco
      @francolinobasco  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hello there Mark. In answer to your question it is very much down to personal preference and necessity, you may find the 36L version better for you, certainly more roomy. However for my own style of river fishing the 20L does me fine. Perhaps order the 36L if you feel the 20L is a bit too small? Check the dimeensions of both bags they should be listed online to help give you more of an idea. One thing I have found over the years is that a larger rucksack does have a psychological affect on me whereby I feel I need to fill it up with more items I don't need to take, but that could just me lol.
