MPCNC Cutting Flitetest Planes

  • The MPCNC multicnc tool that I built hard at work. This time with a 3D printed reciprocating needle tool cutting Adams brand foam board. Cutting Flitetest planes has never been so easy! Not crashing them, that is a whole different story...
    My MPCNC is controlled by Chilipeppr connected to GRBL running on a knockoff Arduino Uno using a knockoff CNC Shield V3 and pololu A4988's. Bulletproof control for less than $25!!

    Outstanding! I just saw this and am thrilled you like the MPCNC and foam cutter... a great combination and perfect for cutting planes. Congratulations!

      +dkj4linux It really is a perfect combination, no more hours of taping plans together and cutting with exacto knives!

    How big is your bed area?
    I am planning on making mine 36x36x9, my table will have to be 48x48 though
    Very cool build!

      Brian C,
      My workable bed area is 24" x 36". There is a very noticeable difference in stiffness, it depends on what you want to cut.

    Hi Marlin....i have some question for you...
    I am still confused by how this machine works. Is this exactly the same as when we will print text to printer machine? Then what program do you use to move this machine (seconds 0.00 -0.04). If the field work we widened whether it will affect the workings of this machine?

      Probably just uses a .dxf file, do it in AutoCAD or similar, upload, and send it.

    Nice, How do you transpose the FT PDF plans into DXF?

      There are a few programs that will open PDFs as an editable file. I have Coreldraw. I think Inkscape will open them, too. There is a video somewhere here on TH-cam covering how to convert PDFs to CNC compatible files.

    Should have shown the finish product or at least how the cut foam sheets look like after.

    how do you cut through it ?
    do you put another felt piece under it?
    cuz i think wood will break the blade

      Nour Ghafarji,
      Yes, I put a second sacrificial foam board under the sheet I am cutting.

    Is this cutting the foamboard with the paper still on?

      @ki4aoa  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, has paper on both sides.

      Steve, I'm assuming there's a setting for not cutting through the bottom paper when necessary? I just spent like 3 evening tracing out plans and cutting with an X-acto knife... this will be a huge help.

    • @AlienRelics
      @AlienRelics 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@dancook6322 I was thinking the same thing. I would think it could be set a bit higher, so the needle point doesn't quite contact the paper. Even if a tiny bit of foam is still there, it should just snap when bent.
