    Great documentary, I've been blessed in my life hanging out with Hank, Mickey, Freddie, Sonny etc at Hank & Joe's place over the years for me is priceless.

    What great memories. My husband and I lived with Hank for 3 years years running his beloved “ Legend” in Green Turtle Cay. We were witness to many songs being created on the boat, some on paper bags that turned out to be one of his many hits. Those were some great times we’ll treasure forever!

    You can tell that only country music history buffs appreciate this documentary, most fans just want to listen to the songs and singers and I understand that. Of course I’m the biggest fan of all too, I’ve been listening to this music, when I was so young I had to ask my my mom what the words even meant, like Let’s Go All The Way, by Norma Jean and I Cried All The Way To The Bank.

    I got to talk to Harlon Howard some but not Hank. He said he was actually digging a ditch in California or something like that when a courier brought him a letter with a 100 thousand dollar check in it that was royalties for Pick Me Up on your way down. He said it scared us all to death.

      Harlan Howard was actually working at a book bindery driving a forklift in Huntington Park California when he was first getting established as a songwriter. It's an industrial suburb a little South of downtown L.A.. The two publishers in CA who saw promise in him early on were Johnny Bond's Red River Songs and Cliffie Stone's Central Songs.

    When hank was told that make the world go away was one of the worst songs he had ever wrote makes me wonder just how great hits have been thrown away by men and women that have missed it

  • @1978garfield
    @1978garfield 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    This was amazing.
    Glad it was started when he was alive.
    Sadly "in the business" songwriters and performers who could not get arrested when they are alive become everyone's best friend as soon as they die.
    Industry insiders who would not return their calls becase "they were too old for radio" will race to be in front of the cameras to talk about how ol' So and So gave them their start in the business and how they were like a father to them.
    That last bit is true sadly.
    I doubt the crap weasels in the industry have any time for their elderly parents unless they are trying to stay in the will.

    Brother if the Lord didn't touch you at the first part of this and light your fire, then your wood is wet. When he said his Grandfather was out there praying and in the name of Jesus GET UP.....Whew it came down on me, I Know that. Praise the Lord!
