Excellent lesson. No-nonsense. Great camera angle, shows both hands, not a lot of panning and cutting, just a good, hard-core "this is how you play it" video. My favorite. Thanks very much!
I am studying your lessons for this song, Lindsay Buckingham, Jimmie Page, Scorpions, etc. It is such a blessing that you have taken time to post them. Your talent and style are phenomenal, and the results are great lessons, and magical musical experiences. Thank you so much for posting!
Thank heavens for TH-cam and thank heaven for people like yourself that take time out to put tutorials together. Learning a song the old way by 'ear' would have taken me an eternity so cheers for another lesson learnt!!
Love the way you play and explain everything here. Love the theory. Love the way jazz seems so fluid and simple here. Not overwhelming but just challenging enough to motivate!
I've gotta tell ya Andy that all of the acoustic song lessons you've posted on your TH-cam Channel has been very well received at my shows. I've always been a stiggler for medleys - even my own original songs. So far, The Beatles, Led Zeppelin, Fleetwood Mac, etc. have been received with great applause and appreciation from my audiences. I'm looking forward to adding this one to one of my sets. Thank you so much Andy!
A pleasure to listen and learn from you, as I appreciate the "theory" you throw in explaining the derivation of some of the sounds. For me, that adds value to the lesson aside from learning this beautiful song. Many thanks!
phenomenal song! I tremendously appreciate lessons like this. very clear. I like the string and fret callouts like G4, D3, E2, etc... so much better and clearer than traditional '3rd string, 4th fret' method. many, many thanks! great job! I was intimidated by trying to learn this song, but after finding this video I'm going for it! :-)
It is an awesome song and I totally agree it will find its place in the classic American songbook. A few years back I managed to pick up an ear version of this song using a flat pick, the occasional finger, and no capo. My other half likes to sing it and insisted I learn it...and I really had to work at it. When I was figuring it out I caught the descending chromatic...and worked around that....very observant of you to point that out. Thanks for great break down. I'm going to search TH-cam to find the Jesse Harris version. :)
thank you so much! I changed that "E7" in the 12/13 fret position, down to another shape - wich is: (Capo is 0 here) D string: 2, G string 1, H string 4, E sting 0. You still have that open ringing sound, but you don´t have to skip a string when picking
Excited to find your video. I heard the Pat Metheny version when researching guitars, one of my passions. Pat’s version has that incredible base because he had a specially made baritone guitar which he played exclusively on his album, One Quiet Night. The guitar is said to be so unique that it’s changing the standard for baritone guitars.
Thannnkyouuu somuch for taking the time to teach those of us who have passion for songs like this and others, interestingly, the name of the street I live on is "Vista Del Sol", and to me, that is what this song and music means to me.
I'm ever grateful for you tutorials! I also love it that you mentioned Pat Metheny's version of this song. It's on his 2002 "One Quiet Night" solo baritone guitar album.
That F#13 is a perfect example of proper four party harmony jazz voicing. I know this because I had lessons a LONG time ago from an amazing instructor named Harry Leheigh. Great tutorial btw, also ur Purple Rain tutorial was excellent.
The heck with it, I'll have a crack at learning it. Love the song. I find singing and picking a bit difficult but I might be able to find a chanteuse to help me out!!
Awesome! You and I have the exact same guitar. Only mine is the dreadnaught body. Love it brother man. Thanks for the helpful lighting and camera angle which really helps see the guitar and focus on it.
Great lesson on this song... Thank you hugely for this. I've wanted to learn it and you've made it approachable with your amazing tutorial! By the way, Jesse Harris wrote 4 songs off Norah's "Come Away With Me" debut album, and he co-wrote with Norah on "The Long Day Is Over".
Thank you! Once again you are the one we can trust . About Pat qmetheny on Joils Holland s show : I read he plays a barytone guitar in A with a nashville tuning . Cherrs from Paris
Hey, i want to express my gratitude for your great lessons. It´s truly inspirational to see such dedication and skill. I was wondering if you´re planning to do some Rory Gallagher, he is one of my favourite guitarists but sadly there are no quality lessons of his music on youtube.
thought this was going to be a lot easier to learn than it was to be honest! with the descending bass it sounds like blackbird so i thought it would be of a similar difficulty but was mistaken. Despite that, this video does a really good job of teaching it, well done
I used to play bass a while back and don’t even play 6 string guitar, but came here to find out what’s going on in this song with the beautiful melody, and boy,it didn’t disappoint
This song is great, and you really did it justice with this lesson. Could you do Come Away with Me? I haven't been able to find any good tutorials for that, but you always do an excellent job.
+Ryan Ascencio I've been slowly putting those together. I want to make sure I've got them completely nailed before I do a video. The licks aren't especially hard, but there's a lot of very cool phrasing and it takes a while to get all of those in your head. Most of the time when I go to learn the last solo, I wind up just jamming! cheers
Thank you very much, oh I think the Pat Metheny version has to many notes. Less is more. I like your version. Im gonna have fun singing and playing this Thanks for the heads up. Very much appreciated.
Thank you for a really really great lesson on the song. Your lessons are amongst the absolut tops on TH-cam. There is one section I miss though; the solo part after the second chorus (I think). I have searcing for it but there are no tutorials on this that I can find. Have you done this? Or maybe point me in the right direction? I have found a couple of examples but no lessons. Takashi Terada has one but I find it difficult to follow. Also in Reina del Cid’s cover, her guitarist Toni Lindgren plays this very nicelly. I hope you can help. :)
Not only are you a great player, you're a great communicator, which is rare.
+I loveacoustic I realize I've been playing it wrong for a long time, but people still liked it.
I loveacoustic
Agreed!
True. 👍🏻
Another superb composition of a beautiful song by a beautiful lady, thanks for taking the time to break this down Andy. 😊👍👏

One of the most beatifull acustic guitar themes ever. Just love it.
Thank heavens for TH-cam and thank heaven for people like yourself that take time out to put tutorials together. Learning a song the old way by 'ear' would have taken me an eternity so cheers for another lesson learnt!!
Just first rate explanation and instruction. I’m so impressed with your sincerity. Awesome.
Love the way you play and explain everything here. Love the theory. Love the way jazz seems so fluid and simple here. Not overwhelming but just challenging enough to motivate!

I searched so much for this but I never found out. The algorithm has failed you. I subscribed and I hope you get the views you surely deserve.
I don't know about that! th-cam.com/users/results?search_query=how+to+play+don%27t+know+why+on+guitar+

This is the best instruction video on this ... PERIOD!
Thank you so much for a person like you you and others who taught me through "You Tube"to learn guitar the right way!
When broken down to just the acoustic guitar it's amazing how James Taylor-esque it is! Thank you.
a subtly difficult song to learn, took me a few weeks but here we are! thanks for the help.
finally a non-beginner and excellent tutorial/lesson. thank you very much, sir!
I thought this was beginner
Best lessons on youtube. Especially acoustic.

Thanks for the lesson. I kind of learnt this song in a sloppy kind of way using basic chords but it's nice to finally see how to do it properly.

Fantastic you are the master .It couldn't better explain how to play this wonderfull song !👏👏👏🎸
Thank you for beeing precise and concise. That's perfect.
thank you so much! I changed that "E7" in the 12/13 fret position, down to another shape - wich is: (Capo is 0 here) D string: 2, G string 1, H string 4, E sting 0. You still have that open ringing sound, but you don´t have to skip a string when picking
THANK YOU! This is so easy to follow along with and I picked it up in no time with your help.
Nice!!! very well explained, now i can play this theme with my singer, thank´s.

Thanks for a brilliant lesson...I was going a bit stale and this certainly freshens up my playing with a beautiful song with some new chords too.

You're too much man....love your playing and lessons! Bravo!
The heck with it, I'll have a crack at learning it.
Love the song. I find singing and picking a bit difficult but I might be able to find a chanteuse to help me out!!
I found it a easier to do the fingerpicking and switch the chords when I want to sing
Really great and straightforward lesson on this superb composition. Everything you need is here! Thank you! That guitar sounds luscious!
What a great player and teacher. Thank you sir.
