Bummer... The song never played? We played the hell out of this tune when it came out, and every year on the last day of school we played it real loud in the car while leaving the school property. I mounted my guitar amp speakers in the back seat for the last day of school my junior year.

@@Bad_Wolf_Media Zappa loved him. In fact, Zappa is the one who told him, when the chicken incident happened, "Don't correct the story." Alice didn't kill the chicken. somebody brought a chicken to his concert in Toronto... like... who does that? And he, just like the turkey drop on WKRP, really thought chickens could fly and when he threw it out into the audience after it has been thrown at him, the audience went bananas and killed the chicken... it kind of horrified him, and then, the press took that and said, "Alice cooper killed a chicken on stage" Frank said, "Don't correct it. Best publicity ever." And Frank... was right.

It's funny how Alice Cooper was maligned by the mainstream in the early seventies, to anyone over the age of forty he was considered a freak. By the end of the decade he almost became mainstream. Hobknobing with the white collars playing in golf tournaments. Turning up on tv in interviews like he was the president of the local pta. Appearing on kiddie tv shows. I remember thinking damn when did Alice turn into Donny Osmond.

I've been a full blown fan of Alice Cooper since I was about 7 years old. Yeah, I had this on 45. I blasted it. The neighbours blasted it. Every kid in the neighbourhood blasted it... elementary school, high school, it didn't matter. On the original recording, they've got kids in the recording singing with him in parts of it and at the end of the recording... as if the kids aren't excited enough that they're getting out of school... they have a school bell ring and all these kids screaming and cheering as they rush out the doors... this is a great live performance, but you might enjoy hearing just how masterfully he did that recording. Every kid went wild hearing it... and parents weren't too pleased because... he was one of those 'bad rock musicians', you know... . which is hilarious to think of now because, even though he still tours, he's also a Sunday school teacher at his church and counsels other musicians who come to him with their troubles and runs charities that help youth. I think I made the right call listening to him, Mom. Just sayin'...
Oh... and since you're on the Alice Cooper train... Hello Hooray, Only Women Bleed, I Never Cry, Billion Dollar Babies, (freaky deaky) Cold Ethyl, No More Mr. Nice Guy, Poison, Clones... there are lots of tracks to choose from.

True story... my dad's parents, 2 of his 3 sisters, and a few other family members made the 2 1/2 hr + trip to attend my high school graduation. Before I left the house, I had cued this song up on my stereo, set the volume WAAAAAAYYYYY loud so all I had to do was walk in, go straight to my room, and hit the power button on my remote. My mom, who hated Alice's music said turn that crap off.... but my dad said "no, let him enjoy this... he's earned it".
When my son graduated high school, he did nearly the same thing... as he was staying with my parents at that time.

He opened for Motley Crue on their "final" tour a few years ago. He is a lunatic on stage! He brings out the snake, a guillotine, etc. I swear he rocked like he was in his 20's. 👩‍🎤

LOOOVE Alice Cooper. This song was the most meaningful to me after graduating from high school and then even more so when I graduated from college. But I’ll tell you when this came out in middle school, when that final bell rang this was The Song! He’s hung up his crazy outfits, makeup, and theatrical antics. He is smart as a whip. A true intellect

The first time I saw Alice Cooper was in 1989 during this exact tour. His show is amazing. I highly recommend that watch the entire Trashes The World concert movie. If for no other reason than your personal enjoyment. His shows are quite a ride, so make sure you strap in.

Cranked up, loud, on every Pioneer Supertuner and Jenson CoAxials in the student parking lot on the last day of school, Class of '76. We all tried like heck to sync the start, and failed miserably.
And we didn't care. LOL. Every house within a half a mile heard it, I am sure. Was allowed to be 30 min late to work at the gas station on the that day to do this and say goodbye. A lot of my friends came by the station I worked at, at the corner of Market and Orange in Long Beach, later in the evening and they were STILL blasting it.

When I was in High School, maybe just my last year '77, they played this song the last day of school. Yes, I still blast this song. My kids have heard the song but I'm pretty sure it's not one they listen to on a regular basis. I have been an Alice Cooper fan since his first album. I got to see him at Wembley Stadium in England in 1990, possibly '91 on the Hey Stoopid tour.

Jamel since it's an election year you need to react to "Elected". It was released in 1972 and the original 1972 video shows him running for President. If you want a more current version the video from a Jimmy Kimmel show.

Yes! Matter of fact, given the candidates we have to choose from this election I’m wearing my Alice Cooper for President shirt as we speak and am seriously thinking about writing him in. We could do WAY worse than a highly intelligent family man with high morals and a wicked sense of humor in the White House.

Same with Meat Loaf. He usually says that he considers himself first of all as an actor. He says that he LIVES the song he is performing, not only sing it. And both of them are great.

This song came out the year I was born...1972. It’s the national anthem every last day of school. Alice is 72 years old and still putting out albums, tours extensively every year, has his own radio show, his own Christian non-profit organization in Phoenix called Alice Cooper’s Solid Rock Teen Center. He’s been married 44 years and has 3 kids and 3 grandkids. My kids and I have seen him live 4 times recently and his shows are always a theatrical extravaganza and just pure Rock & Roll. He finishes every show with School’s Out. Jamel, please react to more Alice Cooper. Try Brutal Planet off his Brutally Live dvd. It’s flippin amazing!
