    I’ve just fitted 12mm spacers all round on my BMW 1 series with stock m sport suspension and staggered wheels and I’ve noticed the handling has improved plus the balance overall feels better, mid corner it feels more planted and turn in responsiveness has definitely improved slightly. It’s not dramatic changes but you can tell the car feels more stable. All in, looks wise it’s a thumbs up and performance handling is also a thumbs up from me 👍🏻

    I noticed tram lining with 20 mm spacers on my 350z on crap tyres but with PS4's no problems. I do now know why the suspension seems under damped. Time to save up for some BC's.
    Great video 👍🏻

    • @sportzntouring
      @sportzntouring  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I've not tried PS4's... Only the PS4S on my R8 (but the S is reportedly a gripper tyre). As I've got SC7s I'm not sure I'd want to give up the extra grip going to PS4's (SC7s are even better than the S's). Did you see my tyre review with the SC7?
      As for the feeling of being under damped, the issue is the spring rates rather than the damping. Stiffer springs is what's needed, but if course you need to adjust the damping to those spring rates so the BCs will help.

      Thanks for the advice, I will watch that video. The PS4 sidewalls move around on corners a bit on the front. Actually Ps5's on the rear. They are brilliant in damp conditions but really good when warm. 👍🏻

    I'm running 20mm spacers on my Nismo, stock suspension. Noticed an increase in tramlining and bump steer.
    Thinking about getting full geometry setup done at Centre Gravity. Not cheap but will hopefully correct it.

    • @sportzntouring
      @sportzntouring  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      There's very limited adjustment on the front so you may need a camber/toe kit . Worth checking what can be adjusted first.

      @@sportzntouring Thanks, didn't realise that. I'll have a chat with the guys at Centre Gravity see what they suggest.
      It's not unbearable but definitely more noticeable than before over uneven surfaces.

      I went 15mm front with a 275x35x19 tyre and 5mm shims on the rear with a 305x30x19 tyre. Fills the arches nice. More grip, Don't get me wrong you can still slide it xD
      The fronts rub on the arch liner slightly, but only under a big compression. As for tramline, there is some on bad, grooved motorways but thats a downside of wide wheels more than spacers. Handling, I found it was better than stock. If you want it really tail happy, go 15mm front and non rear, I found this out while waiting for the shims :)

    I bought a used Tesla Model 3 which was fitted with spacers. As my previous experience with spacers on a Mini R53 was negative I removed them.
    The car drives much better, less tyre noise, less clonking on full lock, much better turn in especially at slow speed and better ride all around. I also weighed the spacers and they were 1Kg each of unsprung weight.

    What would be interesting to know is the tyre wear over time to see if there are any differing affects on the inner and outer toe tread. It might reveal some finer tuning if needed.

    • @sportzntouring
      @sportzntouring  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks Colin! We're expecting a bit more on the inside at the rear as the camber is at the limit while keeping it in the green. I'll be honest, I don't really think too hard about tyre wear but I know it's a consideration for many.

    V2 Sport Rays
    19x10 +30 Squared
    255/40 Front, 285/35 Rear
    30mm spacer in the rear, effectively making the rear offset 0.
    Also lowered on KW V3.
    With a proper alignment, rubbing should never be an issue.

    • @sportzntouring
      @sportzntouring  ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for your specs.
      Do you mean, "proper" alignment for your specs or ours?
      In our case, we went to the limit of the camber within spec here and as shown in the video there was no margin for any chassis wobble. I didn't want to make the handling any worse by going outside the recommended camber setup hence trimming a little plastic.

      @PoloZ34 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      you’re flush up front with 19x10 +30s? I’m scrabbling to find better fitment for myself up front. Currently my rear is 19x10.5 +12 on 285/35 is slightly poked 4-5mm from farthest tire point ,but not a problem since I turn with front wheels. Up front I’m 19x9.5 +12 but 18mm passed fender, was thinking of just dropping offset to +35 which would have me tucked about 5mm. So I guess that 10” gives you about 3 mm outward and another 5mm from the 30 offset ? Are you slightly poking approx 8mm?

    • @sportzntouring
      @sportzntouring  ปีที่แล้ว

      It's always a compromise. You lose some things as explained in the vid, but you gain in cornering stability. We forgot to mention it does stress the suspension and bearings so they'll not last as long but I don't think it's a dramatic reduction in lifespan. I'd take them off before going on track probably.
