The song is about the original legend of Sun Wukong. The Monkey King learned martial arts and because of his incredible powers thought he was better than the gods and beat every single one of them. The Buddah was called to put a stop to the chaos and defeated Wukong trapping him under a mountain for 500 years. The the monk protagonist of "Juorney to the West" freed him from that and together they went on the adventure where Wukong became the monk's disciple and defeated many demons and evildoers and became recognized as a great hero by Buddah and the other gods.
Ah. The journey to the west bit is the part I always forget about as being associated with Sun Wukong. I always think about the game of that name where you play as a a guy (who now that I think about it is also naked Wukong, so that should have been my first clue 😅) who has a control collar on and is tied to a girl who is I think looking for her father while fighting giant mech animals
