Ohhhhh come on Randy how can you just read a person's mind from such a distance? :) After watching your Store management system I am currently working on a similar project and after finishing it I want to sell it to some local point of sales. I was thinking about how to secure that application and you're making this tutorial now. What else can I say but thank you for your never-ending groundbreaking tutorials. Remember you are changing lives.
Thank you Randy, I cannot get it to work on my program to save my life. Too many conflicts with other macros. I currently have a password with application undo to save changes, I would love to get it figured out someday.
Hi Michael. thanks for your comment. I am sure we can help. Can you post your detailed issue and screenshot in our Excel For Freelancers Facebook Group here: bit.ly/groupexcel We have 60,000 Members who would love to help you with this. Thanks so much.
Great video. I never knew about the userinterface, option. This is a game changer! I’m an intermediate vba coder and I always use unprotect/protect code around what I want vba to do. Will this option allow vba to refresh pivot tables without first unprotecting?
Hi and thanks Ron. Yes certainly, VBA can make the necessary changes, including Pivot Table refresh, while the document is protected. Please remember to re-protect the file on open. I hope this helps and thanks so much.
Awesome work, thank you very much we really needed that! But how can we protect the shapes from being deleted by the user when they still work as buttons?
hi randy, great training as always 👏is there a sample or link for the VBA component protection in the last option for the cheatsheet? thanks in advance!
HI and thanks for your comment. I have reviewed this and it's only possible by protecting the VBA Project as a whole. It's a bit misleading and I apologize for that. I have removed this last item from the cheat sheet moving forward. Thank you for your Likes, Shares & Comments. It really helps.
The subject matter of the training was excellent. If you know anything about password protection for office applications, you will know that the password protections presented in your training can be bypassed in less than 2 minutes and your documents will be completely unprotected. I'm interested in real protection that actually works so that the hard work you do is actually protected. Would it be possible to learn about protection options that actually work and protect in training courses? Although the feedback is direct I generally really like the content of your channel.
Hi and thanks so much. Anything can be hacked, however, that should never stop us from developing applications, because 99.9% of people do not want to break into our software. The issue is that people worry so much about protection, they don't develop applications. I have made hundreds of thousands of dollars developing applications that can be cracked by anyone. So let them crack it if they want, and I will just keep developing applications. I hope this helps and thanks so much.
@@ExcelForFreelancers It's absolutely true that if you're afraid of everything, you don't make progress. It was just a fair warning to those who didn't know. Hey There Randy thank you so much for another Valuable VBA lesson. Any chance you could do a part 2 where the Excel Workbook is linked to the Hardware code of the users computer. This way our work wont be distributed to multiple unauthorized computers. Thank You
Hi and thanks very much. I do share that with you here: th-cam.com/video/l-tgyQvdC5g/w-d-xo.html and perhaps here: th-cam.com/video/NXNA2uyCyJo/w-d-xo.html I hope this helps and thanks so much.
Hi and thanks very much for your comment. You can allow that through the protection settings and formulas will adjust accordingly, however any VBA code would need to be updated. I hope this helps and thanks so much.
Hi and thanks so much. You can set the sheet to Very Hidden which will hide the entire sheet from anyone without a VBA Password. I hope this helps and thanks so much.
Hi! I found your videos recently and I am learning excel. May I know which excel version do you use? I cannot see the developers tab on it :'. Am i missing something? Appreciate your response!
Hi and thanks so much. I am using Excel 365. If you don't see the Developers tab, you can right click any menu item and then go to Customize and select the Developers tab. I also go over this in my Excel VBA for beginners series here: th-cam.com/play/PLIBeRriXvKzDTzNp5IME4-oXXCrIjvV4z.html I hope this helps and thanks so much.
HI and thanks very much. There are some 3rd party apps such as XLS Padlock: bit.ly/SecureExcel However I have never used, or needed, a 3rd party app for protection. I hope this helps and thanks so much.
Hi, Randy. I watched this video on protecting VBA Excel code. I set a password. But my colleague easily cracked it and changed the code. How can I protect VBA in the best possible way so that no one can crack it?
Hi and thanks for your comment. You can use a stronger password or perhaps a 3rd party protection tool such as xlspadlock bit.ly/SecureExcel I hope this helps and thanks so much.
Hi and thanks so much. I have written this idea down already and if i get enough requests I will certainly consider creating a training on this in the future. I hope this helps and thanks so much.
Of course nothing is completely secure. But we should not care about making something perfectly secure. If people want to steal our work, they will. We will just focus on making great applications, giving a ton of value and making a lot of money. If we fear about theft, we will never build anything. Thank you for your Likes, Shares & Comments. Why worry about the tools be cracked? Microsoft knows that people crack most of its applications, they don’t producing their software. Most of the applications created here are customized. So cracking them should not stop people from creating them.
