thumbs up for experiencing the terror of the scaffold, on a windy day it sways a little... Red Bull sponsored a race from the bottom of the hill to the top of the slide a few years back. I was out at the falls a couple days ago, water was higher, but it REALLY roars when the snow melts.
Actually we had contacted the organization through the website and had asked if it was okay to film on a public tour. Our request was passed onto the marketing department who set everything up for a private tour with the original president - his daughter is now running things. He gave us more that two hours of his time, could not have been more generous with his time. Not everything made it into the video - but seeing first hand how the products are made, and the passion behind the brand was fun. Thanks so much for watching.
I grew up in ironwood Michigan. I used to stay at the cabin about 3 mi from copper peak.. I've only ridden the chair lift once. But I have probably been to the top of that ski jump at least 70 times. Mostly when there's nobody there. So the one time that I was there that I wrote the chairlift I got to ride in the elevator.. but most of the time it's go find a 2x 10 plank. And prop it up against the bottom of the jump climb up the plank. And climb all the way to the top.. if you bring some styrofoam to sit on. It's a great place to go when there's thunder and lightning storms. But you don't want to be right at the top you want to be about 20 ft lower.. it's really cool when lightning hits the tower. And you're on it.. and it's night time and you see the lightning reflecting off of all the treetops in the area.. yeah I know it's trespassing when I was like 11 or 12 years old. I didn't care. I'm 44 now. 2024.. it is really fun in the winter time. The snow doesn't stick to the steps but it does stick to the jump itself. And when they're not holding competitions it's not packed.. so you can slide down the jump and you don't build up enough speed to go off the cliff. You just dropped like 12 ft off the end of the jump into a snowbank at the bottom of the ramp. And climb back up and do it again. A lot of fun as long as you don't get caught by anyone....
Any other out of towners that are looking to hike the waterfalls.. growing up in ironwood people are very friendly. And nice and helpful.. highly recommend you park the upper. Waterfall especially if you're older. And there's a trail that goes all the way down next to the river through all of the waterfalls all the way down to the park for the wooden suspension bridges that goes across the river.. and the one that's in better shape. Proceeded to walk up to the car after you have made the 5-mile hike and seen all the waterfalls. Backup your car I'd almost guarantee you within two to three minutes of you starting that walk somebody's going to ask you if you need a ride..
I went to the ski jump. I had never used a chair lift. And I have mobility issues, use walker. And I did it. They almost had to stop the lift so I could get off. I rode the elevator up. When it was time to come down, the elevator operator had found a chair for me to sit on. Of course, stop the lift to let me ride down. Crazy. It was the weekend of the best leaf color. I better not even think about doing it again.
@@MadGreek76 The colors should be incredible when you go. We have videos out on Pictured rocks, the Porkies, and the Keweenaw peninsula if you are looking for ideas. Waterfalls in all of them.
Dale - Thanks for that feedback. We have really been trying to improve on this area. Could you please help us out by letting us know if it is the volume of the music that is the problem or the song choices. Thank you for your input.

That run up copper peak looks intense! The falls in spring are our favorite. Thanks for watching
Oh, apparently he didn’t care for you “just showing up”. I’m glad he gave you the tour. I always enjoy seeing how things are made.

@@Lovenesters I was referring to his comments about you just showing up, not your process. There was no criticism in my comment.
@Critical.Thinker thanks for clarifying I was concerned I made him sound unkind in the editing and he was so very kind. Thanks again.

Thanks for the tip.
Gorge falls is blocked off but i go under the board. Has a trail to go down to the rivers edge. Always have the place to myself. Gorgeous canyon.
I bet it was beautiful! We really wanted to - but when we are filming we are more cautious! Thanks for watching.
My son and daughter-in-law were married at the Memorial Building in July of '23. Absolutely gorgeous and a great experience!
What a great venue! That building is a real jewel for the city. Thanks for watching. Now i'm thinking about pasties...yum
1994 I took my water safety training course in that pool.
Oh wow! Bet it was weird to see it empty.
@@Lovenesters yes a bit, the buildings boiler. Heats the pool. So it was like hot tub. Really steamy..
As I was leaning on my friend people said You are an inspiration!
Good for you, and what a special friend to help you do it!

I'm glad you got to see the pretty colors. I don't think I would ever do it again either! I have trouble even watching that part of the video.
Thanks for coming to Ironwood!
We love it there. Truly the nicest people.
I've never been to the Western UP, but it looks amazing! How is the flow of the waterfalls this time of year?
Thanks for watching Bill. We were there two weeks ago so early September and thought it was great. I suspect in spring they are roaring.
Yeah I wasn't able to go up this spring because of knee surgery, but I plan on heading there in about 2 weeks@@Lovenesters

@user-nh3cr2kg4r We felt the same way! The hats are cool but the story even better!
