This series starts pretty disturbing, but when it tries so hard to out do itself in over the top, deranged killings, it almost circles back and becomes comical. What are you even trying to do at this point?
Urban has planned to have 10 episodes if I remember right. Episode 8 was released 12 days ago and 9 and 10 can be expected within the next 6 - 7 months.
@@TrizzyD14 ever heard of a Lagrange error bound? I’m taking the worse case scenario into account and accounting for the fact that these last two will be the highest quality (his quality has been going up).
Not gonna lie, it started morbidly interesting, but finding out "Wax Doll Tom" was _literally encased in wax_ was some straight up looney tunes shit and broke my immersion immediately. The killing methods became more absurd and I kind of just stuck around curious what manner of absurd murders were coming up next.
Personally I’d say the one with Cory is where it officially lost me alongside being way to over the top even for something like analog horror, especially with the details
the cory weirdness and the horse viagra was just odd, and leaving seminal fluids in wounds is just...what??? it didnt feel creepy anymore it just felt like a parody of those over-the-top creepypastas (like eyeless jake and that bs 💀)
I'm very conflicted about Urbanspook's series. On one hand the paintings themselves, the few inatances of voice acting and the custom soundtrack are phenomenal, from an artistic standpoint there is so much creativity and talent put into this project. I also love the concept, as well as the attempt at a more brutal, visceral take on analog horror. There is so much potential here... the execution is where my complaints come in. The episodes become quite formulaic which isn't necessarily a bad thing so long as you can still do something interesting, it can juat get a bit repetitive, but that's not a huge turnoff for me. The violence in this series gets so over-the-top and ridiculous as it goes on I just can't take it seriously, im just thinking "alright what crazy shenanigans will our killers get up to today?" So much shock value that it loses it's impact if that makes sense, of course there are standout moments like that 911 call, but I can't say the series really did anything aside from midly disturb me at some points. However the biggest flaw for me is it's handling of CSA in the third episode. Was there really a need to go that far? It just comes across as adding more shock value without any real substance. Including that kind of subject into a project like this, for me, requires a lot more care and tact than what was given, it wasn't scary it was just gross for the sake of being gross. Not to mention selling merch of that same painting? It just doesn't sit right with me and feels exploitative. However I do not support using this to claim the creator is some sort of predator or creep, we have absolutely no proof of that and I know there have been people speculating. It's dumb, Urban is clearly trying to make the series disturbing, there is nothing to suggest otherwise. Tl;dr love the concept, art, production value and potential of the series, just needs better execution.
I agree with all of your points, and appreciate your comment. I would genuinely love to see a mini series based off of this series because the concept and general storyline has so much potential to be something truly great and terrifying. The videos have gotten a bit repetitive though for sure and in the walls was (in my opinion) unnecessarily brutal. I wish that more emphasis was placed on the story rather than just straight up shock value. Eight episodes in and it's starting to not even be as shocking. But even with a video like In The Walls, there is no reason to call UrbanSpook a pedo or send him death threats. It's dumb, just like you said.
I actually like the pointless violance and repetivness of it. It's like watching 90's horror movies. They're pretty much all the same but they have some diffrences between them to make them unique. As for the completely disturbing things. I think they're cool for this series. Al other analog horrors have deep intricate story, where as The Painter is like Cannibal Holocaust or Texas Chainsaw Massacre or Human Centipede. They are pretty trashy movies, but they have this B-movie charm about them with pointless violance that just makes you disgusted and creeped out. It's like watching Reality TV to turn off your brain after watching intellctual content.
I love how you made the intro like American Horror Story type stuff. Some Analog Horrors should be made into Seasons of the Series but, they will most likely make one Season of their own Analog Horror...
The Painter series has a lot of potential to be interesting, and engaging, but I feel like these ideas are just reduced to headcanon. Here's the one I came up with: Let's start with The Painter. My take on this character leans more towards the paranormal. A person who commits these horrible acts of homicide for fear that something far worse would happen if they don't. The Painter is a psychic, but not in the Theresa Caputo kinda way, rather this individual is a slave to fate, seeing the gruesome actions unfold right before their eyes before even committing them. The Painter sees this as the will of fate. That if The Painter goes against fate, something horrible would happen. The Painter's innate psychic abilities also aid in them and their colleague, who I will dub "The Slasher" avoiding capture by authorities. Now onto the Slasher: The slasher is a mentally troubled man (whose identity is yet to be confirmed, Either Jack, or Bill) and is roped into the services of The Painter as a hired hand. The Painter forsaw that this man would aid them on their grizzly crusade, and takes him into their service. The Slasher does most of the heavy lifting, and dirty work, and relishes in the horrible acts he commits. This often results in the two butting heads from time to time. Instances of this happening are in episode: "PIGS" where The Painter finds The Slasher's snuff film, and promptly destroys it, and in the episode "FAMILY" where the painter has forseen The Slasher's actions resulting in his death but ended up deciding not to taunt the police over the phone, resulting in fate changing for him. Hence why the name on the painting was rubbed out. As for the paintings of the victims themselves, I think they also have some neat storytelling capabilities. Yeah the spooky face is a staple in the series, but what if these gruesome images were expanded upon? Not only keeping the creepy faces, but also hinting at their demise? We'll use Ian Ford as an example. His painting is creepy, but it doesn't indicate beint stuffed into a pig all that much. The painting I invision of this is the screaming face of Ian Ford, as he is being stuffed into the womb of a large, twisted sow with eerily human eyes. Sorry for the brief character thesis/Mage: The Ascension fanfic, but I kinda just wanted to share my take on the "story" with you all. I've always been the kinda guy to see the potential in things. Also I'm debating on doing Fanart of this interpretation while there's still time in October. Great video fam.
It’s a shame people have turned on this series so quickly, I distinctly remember nothing but genuine praise for The Painter when it first started out but as soon as UrbanSpook starting being an edgelord on Twitter, almost nothing but visceral negativity for this series and it’s creator was being made and I don’t think that fair. An argument can be made about who UrbanSpook is as a person but I don’t think people should use them as an argument against this series. I also think it’s funny that people describe this series as “disgusting and nothing but shock value” as a form of criticism against it even though UrbanSpook most likely wears those titles as a badge of honor. UrbanSpook is a Shock Artist, much like Rob Zombie and Marilyn Manson, shocking you is what he’s going for which is why I think saying “this series is gross and it’s creator is a meanie” is not a valid way to criticize this series. Which is why I love this video, you actually give good, constructive criticism regarding the series’ story rather than it’s content and don’t use the creator as a point of criticism either. It’s like the age old saying, “separate the art from the artist”.
I’m glad you liked the video! I also had the privilege of catching the series before it got super popular, like right as Family was coming out I believe. I remember there being a pretty decent amount of praise although there was a fair bit of disgust as well. It was praised as being the scariest analog horror series though, and it’s still the only analog horror series to scare the absolute hell out of me.
I have no real opinion on UrbanSpook as a person, I think of them like anyone else, and that's neutral in and of itself. I think they're a fantastic artist, but they struggle with storytelling, not that it's a bad thing. It's something they can certainly work on and expand with time and practice, and The Painter could be practice for better projects in the future. While yes, some creative choices for The Painter make my eyebrows go on a date with my hairline, I do understand that UrbanSpook has a different taste in horror and aims towards a different genre than I am used to. I don't think it's outright torture porn, but it's simply not for me, and that's okay. There's a lot of missed opportunities and things to improve upon within The Painter, but the videos have already been released and completely remastering / remaking the series is the only way to go about making such changes. I applaud UrbanSpook for making it thus far, and while I may remain critical in my views of the series, I understand why some like it so.
at first the shock value was good at first but then urban stopped progressing the plot at all in any meaningful way and the shock value is just becoming filler to prolong this series hopefully he can get his act together and give this series a satisfying ending within the next 2 episodes
its not shocking, its just tryhard edgelord content. its not scary. its the equivalent of an edgy 13 yr olds creepypasta about jeff the killer. its just as bad if not worse. combined with his childish and frankly idiotic responses and behavior as a person, id argue that no, its not unfair. he got flamed because hes using his series to make people mad, not out of genuine passion. his true colors only showed once his series wasnt being praised as a masterpiece by everyone and anyone who saw it. if he werent making it purely just to set people off, why does the series feel so dull and predictable and simple? you cant seperate urbanspook from the painter. its literally just a display of his best talent, and worst personality triats, and nothing else. made by an immature edgelord for immature edgelords.
I'm in LOVE with the AHS inspired intro! I would love if you uploaded it on it's own, maybe with a faux season title at the end too (American Horror Story: Paintings?) If not, I'd love to do this myself
Hey man, this was a fairly nice start at the longer analysis style of videos but what I'd like to add is this was in recommended so you should definitely keep at it and seize the opportunity because I think your channel might take off from this point. A lot of people rest a bit and that moment passes by. Don't force yourself to make anything but if you're still passionate about it I think this is when you'll start to be noticed. Good luck! Also not that mic quality makes or breaks a video unless it's inaudible, your camera mic sounds much better than your other mic.
Thanks for your feedback! I appreciate the kind words. I am actually currently searching and saving for a better mic, so that's defiantly something coming in the near future. Thanks for stopping by!
This was great. I got a lot of info on all the episodes and really enjoyed that. Loved your outro commentary-always my favorite part. Interesting comment about the riddle being related to a whale...because my first thought was worm or slug...then I saw Urbanslug and was like, well, there's that to think about now. lol... Watched it straight through. Bravo. Well done!
i dont know why, but this elaborate representation of the whole series has gotten me more than the original did (and i personally found it interesting, simply for the fact that it gave me quite the spooks) aaand to be fair, your jumpscare DID make me crumble inside, a little.
Friends: "OMG we just watched The Amazing Digital Circus because supporting indie artists is everything! It's so subliminally dark!! What artists do you watch???" Me: Friends:
The problem with Urbanspook boils down to being in his "Lmao I'm so edgy" Phase that I think we all have. The problem with his Horror is that while it is subjective whether or not something is spooky the vast majority of his works are repetitive, tasteless and boring. Greylock for example uses similar methods and tropes even right down to the horrific body imagery and all sorts of violence including the murder of a child, and yet that series garners nothing but praise by most accounts? Why? Pacing, proper storytelling and a level of actual point to the subject matter. The issue with "The Painter" Isn't that it uses grotesque violence to back up imagery that is honestly incredibly compelling and hard-hitting. The issue with it is that the question isn't "Where is the story going" But rather "What is the next loony-tunes level of depravity going to be?" In other words it's very lazy all shock 0 substance style of writing. The "Story" exists only as a means to semi-loosely justify what amounts to just pure edge. Darkness for it's own sake as a narrative is not a narrative, grim subject matters on their own aren't mature, and violence for violence's sake is meaningless. That's where I think Urbanspook falls short, he uses all three of the latter far too heavily without offering a greater point to it all, trapping him in what I enjoy calling "Pizza Cutter writing." All edge, no point.
Loved the way you delivered this topic! I personally don't like UrbanSpook as a person, but I thought the series was interesting at a glance and it was very nice to see someone else's take on it!
I'm a big fan of exploitation horror, so the way i see it, as long as the content doesn't manifest in real life, its fine to portray in fiction. One of the main cases i reference is Dolly Flesh who made claymation gore, which was all fine and dandy, but then he started spiraling deeper into his depraved fetish and it eventually culminated into him uploading a video of him microwaving hamsters and subsequently getting sent to jail in canada.
I have one issue with the painter as a whole: if you wanna go the extreme horror route, YOU TAG YOUR SHIT PROPER. I read plenty of extreme horror novels and every one has a warning of what's to come, either in name itself, book art, or in the plot summary on the back. ESPECIALLY WHEN KIDS ARE INVOLVED!
I honestly like the series, sure it’s lacking in the plot a little but it’s a nice change from other Analog Horror series. It definitely gets over-hated that’s for sure.
its full of plotholes and has so much gore for the sake of it that it becomes hilarious its the most unintentionally funny horror related thing i have seen since sonic.exe
It’s much more funny to me now. I think it was a mix of watching it at the right time and place for me. I was alone, doom scrolling on TH-cam and it just happened to show up. Watching it alone, in the dark, not knowing who made it or why, really messed with me for some reason. But yeah, it is really goofy the more I watch it.
This is the most fair and accurate video I’ve seen about this series and UrbanSpook, rather than the rest that are just “oh this is the WORST series ever and UrbanSpook is a PEDO!!!” He deserves praise for his art work and composing his own music for the series, yeah he lashed out and I see why, but he isn’t a bad person just based on what he’s created You deserve more attention to your channel as well, this video is so well put together, I wanna see a revisit when the series is completed :)
@@tmetal2854also rewatching this, was there ever a painting of Bill? As the series cover implies “if there is a painting, there is a victim” I don’t recall Bill Collin’s having a painting
In my opinion: it was a breath of fresh air from the normal paranormal things but after mentioning CSA in one of the videos I instantly thought that it was just wrong. Like if you are going to use CSA in horror you can do it in a way that makes it more understandable to the typical viewer (I.e: Salad Fingers, he’s a grown man yes but he’s also a potential candidate for CSA since he’s obviously scared of intimacy with anyone. It could also be the fact that he was a possible war vet since WWI was nicknamed ‘the Great War’)
Woah a thoughtful and in depth video about the painter, they do exist! I just have one criticism; when going over the episodes you kinda just repeated yourself almost verbatim. I get how that might be difficult to do in a series like this, but if you just went to explaining the secrets and what not instead of an immediate recap I think the video would flow a bit better. I really hope you make more analog horror videos like this! I really enjoyed it
Yeah I had the same thought as I was editing, but I was so far in I just wanted to get a finished video out lol. I’m glad you enjoyed though! More analog horror videos are on the way!
I've not seen anyone saying he doesn't belong in the analog horror community, all I've seen is people giving him critique, to which he responds with either "don't like, don't watch" or he throws a tantrum because not everyone likes his lazy shock value series. He has two episodes left, he can pull this around and make something actually compelling out of this, but until then, the series has become repetitive and boring. The art is impressive, yes, but that can't save terrible writing and pacing issues that drag it all down, especially with how nonsensical the murders have become. Like, dude pulled a "Mr Hands" for one of the killings in Pigs and I'm supposed to still take this story seriously? Really? XD
I've seen the best and worst of both worlds, that being people criticizing and downright insulting UrbanSpook, and this is something I've stayed neutral in. I think UrbanSpook is simply a shock horror artist, nothing more, nothing less. That's not necessarily a bad thing, just unconventional in the ways of going about horror on a platform like TH-cam. UrbanSpook certainly has a fantastic hand at art, but not so much at storytelling. Yes, it's gotten repetitive, and several choices in the story have me raising my eyebrows and questioning Urban's creative decisions, but it's not my story and to fix such choices now demands a complete remake of the series because we are so far in. UrbanSpook may be using The Painter as practice for later projects, seeing as The Painter wasn't really made to be taken seriously, but instead, to promote Urban's merchandise and artwork. I think that made them a bit lazy in a few aspects, but not as much as I've seen people claim they are. Some people are just bad at storytelling, like how I'm bad at reading cursive or writing with my feet. It doesn't come naturally, and it's something that has to be improved upon and practiced with for years. TLDR: The Painter has potential, and UrbanSpook is most likely just using it as practice and not something meant to be taken completely seriously (their lashing out on Twitter is making me consider revoking this statement, but I think that's because of the insults and accusations aimed their way, not the genuine criticism).
Literally making an omelette when the pigs bit came up. Onion, chicken, cheese and 4 eggs, bit of salt for seasoning not bad. The violence reminds of the serbian film, the first hostel. Hannibal (tv series) the fact the killer(s) are pretty much creatures of ID where they hold nothing back. Selling merch of horror is nothing new though some topics maybe in poor taste
If I had to pick one murder that most disturbed me, it’s gotta be the family that was drugged with meth and murdered. Being forced to transform into something monstrous and then brutally killed as you laugh and smile without a care in the world is horrifying.
I think the story should go like this okay. Plot: our main character who's an unknown male or rather nameless so Anon or John Doe Will be his name for now recently he has moved back into his childhood home after his parents had passed away peacefully and he's been cleaning out the house so that he could move in since his family had left him with a huge plot of land and his parents were famous artists so they left their fortune to him, john goes to his parents room and finds a secret trap door which was hidden underneath his parent's bed So he removes the trapdoor and he finds a series of VHS tapes a paint brush that is covered in this dark brown paint? And a piece of leather? John puts in the tapes and he realizes that these are from his father's police station where he worked at, In fact he remembered how his parents were always strange... They had a look in their eyes, as if they were hiding something. John place a tapes and he becomes intrigue with a mystery that his father had become attached to... The Painter killer's, two psychotic people going on a bloody killing spree and no one knew who they were what their names are how old they were, nothing, only abstract paintings of their victims were left in their wake. The series continues then it boils down to the last tape where it says on the title of the VHS tape on some simple masking tape, "our little pride and joy!" In there John Doe sees instances of his life that his parents have recorded and finally the tape ends and it's a message from his late parents and that they had a confession to make... They were the painter killers, but ever since jonda was born they had to stop their killings so that they wouldn't go to prison and be separated from their child... There they ask their son to continue their legacy of being a great painter... John picks up his mother's blood dried paintbrush, and stitched together his father's mask made of the skins of their victims as John walks out of his family house after sitting in on fire and walking towards the city ready to continue creating beautiful works of art.... And that's my version of the Painter story. I wish you kind of went like that where the main character is actually like the child of the main antagonist like here's the thing The main antagonist for almost every analog car is either going to be a victim or is the hero right and their parents or significant other had died because of some supernatural thing or a killer or something but why not make it to where the main character is literally related to the main antagonist like what if the killers had retired from killing and had a child and the child while being raised was actually secretly being taught how to be a killer by his parents?
The audio tho, I dont get disturbed by visuals, I get disturbed by audio. (For example, PIGS, that one carnis vid, etc basically anything loud and haunting)
OMFG that 911 call with isabelle was the stuff of legends. Goes frpm her cruing to get 911 out. Told dispatch another address. Started acting hysterically, and then the craziest sequence unfolds, it shows Isabelles death.
I would like to mention something that no one hasn't, weirldy enough. When the dispatcher asks Isabelle if she knows who the people attacking her are, Isabelle anwsers yes. Now this could be in a state of panic, with Isabelle wanting to get the call moving on so that she can be saved, but think about it: How do the killers know the name of their victims? I doubt that they simply ask them before killing them, so what if the killers actually have a backstory with the community of wherever this is happening? Perhaps something happened in the past that made "the painters" want to seek revenge on the people of the community, and this could add a little more sense to how they manage to avoid the police so succesfully. If they know the community, they probably know the area as well, allowing for easier and smoother ways of escape. All though i still find it un-realistic how much they manage to avoid the police so much, especially in the forest, i mean how did they not get caught, the police was probably moving at a snails pace. This theory could very well be un-likely though, i mean, if they really were associated with the community, surely someone, atleast one person, would report to the number who they are, i mean with pinky purpely red face sure, he's probably wearing someone else's face so he can't really count, but what about self portrait, or the photo from Cory's camera, i could also mention the footage from the episode "Meat", but that is only the latest episode, so we don't have a chance for someone to report who the killers may be yet. Perhaps self portrait could also have been a way to fool the police, i mean really sending a self portrait of yourself after your case goes public is like the dumbest thing to do.
I honestly agree with everything said here- and I think this series could’ve been okay if the subject matter was handled better. Anyway- great video, man! Keep up the great work :]
I mean Fnaf handles the child's death well by not going into detail as to how they die. I guess it's more on how you deal with that subject matter. There's the right way and there's the wrong way
Also forgot to add. Urbanspook seems to have inspiration from cartel gore videos, especially the could episodes that the killer flays the victims face off. Lucky, he hasnt decided on recreating the Funkytown Gore video, or the Guerrero Flaying video (kids heart is ripped out the intercostal space). The only series that messed with me was Gemini Home Entertainment, the friggin Woodwalker, how they're stealthy. The rabbit is starving, rosemary running into the same area bon is, and the "rose broken....well fix you. You will beautiful", alongside all the chaos that occurs after Shas "am I still Beautiful to you, Sophie?" Scene, and bon singing daisy bell messed with me.
"he takes inspiration from cartel videos" says alot about the type of people who enjoy his series, and the person that made it. just makes me dislike him (and people that like him) even more and confirms im correct in thinking this guys work is just for a "whos more edgy and controvertial" contest. btw, you need serious help. quit watching cartel videos and keep watching actually good analog horror content like gemini home entertainment, your mental health will thank you later.
This was a great video, enjoyed it so much can't wait to see the future of UrbanSpook and this channel, you deserve all the followers you get, keep it up.
I’m very back-and-forth on Urbanspook, but I will say I think I would react the same way in his position. Months and months of hate is unimaginable. His series also DOES do what it sets out to do-especially pigs. The audio alone is horrific.
I like the series. Honestly, I don't find his work particularly disturbing - dark yes, disturbing no. I'm more interested in the art in it, which is phenomenal, and, for me, its too abstract to take seriously in the way that some people have. The fact that he's put a story to his paintings, especially one this dark, is unusual but at the end of the day, this is the context that he gives his work and the one he wants the viewer to have - its not necessarily what the images mean. My favourite one, I think, is probably the one with the girl who had her face smashed in with a hammer, at least that is the interpretation we're given. I tend not to give works of art context, but that's possibly because I'm autistic - I like something or I don't and if the context or the title a piece has been given speaks to me and makes me feel that that's what it is that's fine, its just not always the case. I didn't realise that he had an Instagram account though, I may check that out. Cheers. :)
@@tmetal2854 Yeah, I mean...given the context its pretty pitiless stuff. Art has always had that element in it though of course, if you look at stuff like The Reward of Cruelty by William Hogarth from the late 1800s I think - its basically a print of an etching of an autopsy being performed on a living subject (complete with a dog going after one of the organs). Its part of a series. There's a painting of what is meant to be a recreation of the murder of the last Jack The Ripper victim, Mary Kelly, by Walter Sickert too which is pretty powerful, can't remember the name of that one though. I guess I find things like that more disturbing because of the time they were done as much as anything - the Victorian era here in the UK must have been pretty terrifying day to day, I would think. If art is ultimately a depiction of how the artist sees the world, I would imagine Urbanspook sees things as being kind of...farcical I would think, clearly he's intelligent and idiosyncratic enough for that, and extreme art often portrays an element of farce from what I know of it. Cool stuff. :)
James and his secret face was based off the Mexican Drug Cartels habit of flaying yhe victims face clearn off the skull. So the thing that almost buried Urbanspooke and the story he wanted to tell was due mainly in part to every episode repeating itself, that and the 2 children who were unalived, Ra93d, and used as a scare yactic. When someone brought this up, urbanspook became extremely offended and then Martin Walls chimed in.
First i want to say, because most niggas wont read all of this, urbanslug/spook is visually incredibly talented and is prodigious in sound design as well as a composer in the fucked up visceral industrial guttaman of gravedigger mountain techno synth music genre God i do not envy being under 20 in the social media age😅 spook reminds me alot of eli roth in both content and attitude (but actually talented)and, unfortunately, the more direct nature of social media, social climate plus the bois age, level of sensitivity and angst made for a shit show that may have, best case, stunted the artistic growth of a youngin temporarily right before a new high was about to be reached, and i hope he doesn't let the insecurities take his drive away for good. His last one is the first thing that has legitimately creeped me out in years and I sleep to this kinda shit on the regular. No the story itself wasnt great but id take 2 more seasons of emo and gimp dawg being in a looney tunes tier goof off contest while the local police station slowly becomes emptied tf out while the fbi leaves them on read again instead of watching hostel 2 or 3 or 75% of saw which were far less justifiable turds and technically budgets large enough to feed mad homeless people for a cool minute on top of being ass. Spooks stuff when absurd was the kind of absurd thats funny af imo (but i found it mostly disturbing regardless of lack of realism the thought of a pretentious artist whos sole muse is a series ever escalating crashouts by scoob the ex navy seal gimp attack dog is horrific shiiiit theres been celebrities kids that have had stories come out that could easily be a starting point for a mf like this fr and if they had hints of expendable resources in the spree instead of these two being cave dwellers by the current evidence itd be way easier to buy imo, rich people are fuckin crazy) hope he takes time to reflect and can overcome the obvious crippling insecurities holding him back from growth. Im glad you were able to appreciate the series in the same ways i did and articulate it in a good ass and well researched video essay. Also Your grandma must be cool and a badass Thankyou for coming to my ted talk
I now want to add an acknowledgement of my own failure to not take things at face value after reaching the end of the video showing evidence spook was 40% way less of a angsty twat and I had only considered the messages presented in videos by likely biased channels i just refuse to interact with most social media platforms in this case somewhat to my opinions detriment I still stand on my assessment of him being a goober that all being said just to slightly lesser degree I again commend your research on this definitely earned a new subscription here
Tmetal this part is just such cool and just insane editing here with the screams of isabelle merging with the power drill and the scream of the painting this is just so cool and well edited good job my guy👍1:09:56
0:00 i don’t like it for horror, i like it because of the actions being taken by the killers, which coming from someone who does forensics as a bit of a fan is disturbing and disgusting, that’s why i like it, because it gives a different kind of shock value, one where you don’t deal with monsters beyond comprehension, but with cases where it could happen if someone was crazy enough, if someone could kill john lennon because of a novel, what could stop someone in the real world to do something like this, and plus not to mention it feels like a report of a mix between ed gein, robert berdella, and john wayne gacy, and to know this could happen in real life, that is what scares me
Boy, I'm late to comment on this one, but did you know that if you disagree with the content of a video that you don't have to watch it, right? UrbanSpook isn't coming into your home and prying your eyes open Clockwork Orange style and forcing people to watch the series. I am a survivor of pretty horrific CSA and I have no problem with the content. Tags alluding to said content are more than enough for me and don't have to be overly specific as to ruin the shock value. If you are out there searching horror content what do you really expect to find? The video is correct calling it out as gatekeeping, which is honestly pathetic as most "analog horror" is complete shite. Honestly labeling horror content as "analog horror" only serves to stifle the creativity, as it must adhere to these preset standards and ideas of what content should be composed of. Let creators create uninhibited, then watch and support it if it is something you enjoy. Otherwise, just look elsewhere.
@@IamEscBoy Some of it is enjoyable because it is such shite, but in a very different way of course. It is like watching Troll 2, you enjoy it because it is bad. I'd always rather find quality content, but I think most people enjoy some absolute slop from time to time as long as that slop is genuine and has heart to it.
I know this video is old and whatnot but the film student in me takes issue with the idea of pigs being considered as a climax of this “story” considering there really isn’t one when looking at this with a standard plot diagram at least in my opinion. This is especially clear since the plot has felt stagnant and repetitive for the 8 out of 10 episodes that have been posted by urbanspook with very little attempts to move the plot further

Ill be Urban seems to have made this work for fun but primarily to help showcase his art. Similar to artist like Trever Hendersen make insane , creepy but also interesting art. I feel the backlash he gets by some bigger creators is gatekeeper (probably from fans constantly asking for reviews regardless if the creator mentioned they dont like that style) but also his (Urban) reaction was complelty unnecessary and blown up from anger rather than trying to take it as criticism. Like you said both sides have good and bad reasons for their reactions and its just a mess that hopefully they can fix with each other rather than fans making things worse on both sides like they are
Ik there hasnt been a confirmed setting but i imagine the sereies taking place somewhere in flordia there is a real tiger lake their and tina jack and Flora were probably going somewhere like miami it brings up the south coast ive seen some video bring up how the lack of setting impacts ihe story thats just my theory on the setting specifically Polk county which is East of Tampa
I don't think [skin face/purple face]is jack because if you look at urban spooks community post when he got 80k subs he drew some are of skin face and if you look closer he has hair and as we know jack is bald and if you look closer in the most recent video by urban spook and if we look closer at the security camera skin face has hair
I gotta be honest I think this series is overhyped. I have seen and experienced worse horror than this. And horror real horror is supposed to disturb you and horrify you. In my opinion the story and some of the art style needs some work. But to get upset over this where there have been movies( more brutal), stories and some reddit threads that have been more brutal and graphic than what is portrayed in this series. Great job on the video. Well done
meh...is pure torture porn. Lots of violence, few reasons. you become desensitized very quickly. especially after in the walls when the killer used a horse to kill his victim I just started laughing at how stupid that is. It's edgy just for the sake of being edgy. as if he were a teenager trying to shock the public by saying that he is tougher than other children. shocking is very easy let's be honest
Yes serial killers exist. but the deaths are absurd and so planned in elaborate ways. which transforms this "human" into an indestructible and indestructible supernatural being like jeff the killer or jason or alien. It's just a killing machine. There are no symbolisms or motives, it's just a slasher. I believe you give too much credit to something that isn't well executed. the art is good, the setting is good but the execution is terrible. Apart from the children, the series becomes unintentionally funny, like a trashy b-movie. it seems that whoever did this wanted to say something like (I'm not like the other analog horror) is it silly .-.
I appreciate your comment. I actually agree with many of your points. Like I said in my video, when you start to apply logic to the series, its story will fall apart pretty quick. One of my goals in this video was to dive into how the series was conceived, as I think that with any piece of media, delving into the person who made it and their intensions can help us to better understand why they made it the way they did, and maybe even gain a little respect for the finished product. In this case, we have an artist who has no experience with analog horror making a series of videos to advertise their art, and when looking at it this way, the series has not only done a good job of this, but has also given the fans of these videos a story to follow. While its very simple, it is still effective for many. Although horror is subjective and this series won't work for everyone. And that's completely fine, but I can agree that given it was made for the sole reason to come up with overtop kills and just advertise the art, this series could have been something amazing in the realm of analog horror if it was done differently. The premise would actually work great as the groundwork for a horror story. But it's just like I said in my video, each video has remained mostly the same, and I would like to see the series expand from its general formula (although I don't think that will happen). But I have to give credit where credit is due because the series genuinely through me off for a few days, and that does not happen often.@@aliceyagami8260
his "analog horror" does have potential but he ruins it by just mostly focusing on shock value with little to no substance on the story element of it not to mention that he kinda acts a bit childish on twitter as well unless that's somebody posing as him and ruining his image I don't know really also I don't really like how he "trolls" on there as I feel like hes serious whenever he says something on there, its hard to tell if hes "trolling" or not, personally I think he should just delete his twitter and never come back on there since theres alot of fools on there and hes just feeding them with his "trolling persona"
It’s not gatekeeping. Pastra is 100% correct. UrbanSpook could have taken the criticism, listened to it, understood where people were coming from, and instead chose to lash out in a childish fashion. Was it a boiling point for him? Probably. Does that make it excusable? Not in the slightest Sure, he’s nice to his fans, but only because he’s surrounding himself in an echochamber of yesmen supported who only support him and reduce the criticism against him as “cringe autistic snowflakes” Pastra is right. If someone like UrbanSpook reacts to criticism by hurling out childish insults and seemingly making the series more torture porn-y out of spite, they don’t deserve a platform they’re clearly incapable of handling
I appreciate your comment, it is very well written and brings up a good viewpoint of this subject. I agree, UrbanSpook's response to Pastra, while I understand it, was not warranted and could have been handled much more respectfully. There isn't an excuse for calling someone a cunt, especially someone like Pastra. Maybe gatekeeping wasn't really the right word for the subject. As for only being nice to his fans, this is simply not true. UrbanSpook has responded to genuine criticism with respect in the past. This has mainly taken place on reddit. Maybe I could've provided more of these examples in my video but it's like I said, I am very new to this style of video so it will be rough around the edges. Thanks again for your comment.
He only reacted that way because the “criticisms” people aside from Pastra have been throwing his way was complaining about how graphic the series is despite it being HORROR and some people just flat out called him a pedo for no reason, of course he’d eventually snap and say something out of line. I don’t condone anything he said, definitely not, but I understand why it ended up happening, it’s one thing to give genuine criticism about why you don’t like someone’s work but it’s a whole other thing when you start insulting the man and assuming he’s the worst human being simply because he made something that you didn’t like.
@@bloodmoon7018agreed!! I also don’t like how ppl don’t accept “if you don’t like it, it’s not for you” as a response because that’s honestly just how media is! It doesn’t matter if it’s art or music or storytelling, if you don’t like something then you just aren’t the target audience! Not everyone has to like everything
or maybe he just shouldnt be a childish edgelord and not make his arts entire purpose just to make people mad and to "own the libs". maybe then his art would actually be appreciated, if it was actually good and well thought out. just a thought.

wtf is that shit with the clothing. its a fictional Story, no one was harmed in anyway. If someone without the context looks at the picture of cory for example,m they would just think "huh thats odd" only people that know the urbanspook series would get the context, and even then, its a fictional story. jeez
I know you can usually separate the creator from the content that they make but two instances of CSA (Corey, Fiona) and two instances of bestiality along with viagra (Mae , and cat death) seem very telling that at the least in his mind these topics are okay because they happen in real life
People are really upset about paintings of FAKE, entirely made up, killings ? That’s insane. I cannot fathom being so soft that art & creativity gets under my skin. That absurdity at its finest.
he may not be evil, but the fact that he uses his series as a "im edgier than you" type thing, and how he doesnt watch or care about ANY other analog horror series says alot to me. hes using this series as ragebait, not a genuine art project, and hes made it clear its mostly just ragebait. thats the main issue here to me as another artist. theres no substance, his political beliefs heavily influence the existence of this series (with him saying hes purposefully trying to "trigger" people that he deems as too sensitive), and theres no genuine care or actual effort put into the series aside from the voice acting, video editing, and animations. all of those to me immediately discredit his work and puts into perspective just how lackluster and undeserving of attention this guys series is. if even the creator is disinterested with the story and is only doing it to disturb people with no other goal, i dont see how this series is scary or worth following whatsoever. not to mention his blatant ableism and ignorance and other petty and childish actions, that also makes him unworthy of a place in the community, hes not willing to accept criticism when its kindly handed to him, and makes all of the criticism out to just be harrassment and nothing else even when its proved that it isnt harrassment. he can continue to make his own horror content, but personally i think its safe to say he doesnt have a real place in any analong horror community that isnt filled with wannabe edgelords filled with hate and malice for anyone that doesnt have the same opinion as them. no hate to you at all man btw these are just my thoughts. the video was great
This series starts pretty disturbing, but when it tries so hard to out do itself in over the top, deranged killings, it almost circles back and becomes comical. What are you even trying to do at this point?

The killing methods became more absurd and I kind of just stuck around curious what manner of absurd murders were coming up next.
Definitely the most unrealistic and absurd kill besides Mae probably.

Some Analog Horrors should be made into Seasons of the Series but, they will most likely make one Season of their own
Analog Horror...
Personally, this is just the .exe phase of analog horror
LITERALLY
The way you narrated urbanSPOOK's videos proves how much voice acting could've improved this series so much
The Painter series has a lot of potential to be interesting, and engaging, but I feel like these ideas are just reduced to headcanon. Here's the one I came up with:
Let's start with The Painter.
Now onto the Slasher:
The slasher is a mentally troubled man (whose identity is yet to be confirmed, Either Jack, or Bill) and is roped into the services of The Painter as a hired hand.
Love this interpretation 👏🏻
Not gonna lie your interpretation is pretty awesome sounding
I am not the biggest fan I guess, I just like Faces, Pigs, That one with Issabelle, and Family.
"fucktoy cory" is the kinda shit id see and laugh giving my location away to a killer. that was so out of pocket and hilarious

As a lot of comments say, this series has a good concept behind it, but the execution could have been way better. Episode 3 especially.
its full of plotholes and has so much gore for the sake of it that it becomes hilarious
its the most unintentionally funny horror related thing i have seen since sonic.exe
This is the most fair and accurate video I’ve seen about this series and UrbanSpook, rather than the rest that are just “oh this is the WORST series ever and UrbanSpook is a PEDO!!!”
He deserves praise for his art work and composing his own music for the series, yeah he lashed out and I see why, but he isn’t a bad person just based on what he’s created
You deserve more attention to your channel as well, this video is so well put together, I wanna see a revisit when the series is completed :)
Thank you that means a lot! That was my goal with this video. I will definitely be revisiting the series when the next two episodes drop.
@@tmetal2854also rewatching this, was there ever a painting of Bill? As the series cover implies “if there is a painting, there is a victim” I don’t recall Bill Collin’s having a painting
Bill never had a painting, but if he was in fact killed in the lighthouse, there are 3 photos scattered around the barrel and one could be Bill.
Really? XD
I haven’t seen any criticism, all I’ve seen are people insulting him and insulting his fans for liking him
I've seen the best and worst of both worlds, that being people criticizing and downright insulting UrbanSpook, and this is something I've stayed neutral in.
It’s pretty terrifying to think about
Great coverage! Also I really like the intro in the beginning that was cool :D ❤
Thank you! Glad to see you enjoyed.
The Urbanspook story is the analog horror version of Trying to hard.
That whole PIGS section completely freaked me out
I’ll never forget watching that video for the first time
The audio tho, I dont get disturbed by visuals, I get disturbed by audio. (For example, PIGS, that one carnis vid, etc basically anything loud and haunting)
I used to hate horror, but then I got my startle response chemically removed.
OMFG that 911 call with isabelle was the stuff of legends. Goes frpm her cruing to get 911 out. Told dispatch another address. Started acting hysterically, and then the craziest sequence unfolds, it shows Isabelles death.

I thought I would be seeing more comments about cory man, as soon as you said what happened to him, I felt the pain.
I stand with UrbanSpook.
This is an outstanding video dude! Great editing, narrating and great ideas you conveyed, youre definitely gonna be one of the youtube greats!
Thank you 🙏🏻
I would like to mention something that no one hasn't, weirldy enough.
When the dispatcher asks Isabelle if she knows who the people attacking her are,
Isabelle anwsers yes.
Now this could be in a state of panic, with Isabelle wanting to get the call moving on so that she can be saved,
but think about it:
How do the killers know the name of their victims?
I doubt that they simply ask them before killing them,
so what if the killers actually have a backstory with the community of wherever this is happening?
Perhaps something happened in the past that made "the painters" want to seek revenge on the people of the community,
and this could add a little more sense to how they manage to avoid the police so succesfully.
If they know the community, they probably know the area as well, allowing for easier and smoother ways of escape.
All though i still find it un-realistic how much they manage to avoid the police so much,
especially in the forest, i mean how did they not get caught, the police was probably moving at a snails pace.
This theory could very well be un-likely though, i mean, if they really were associated with the community,
surely someone, atleast one person, would report to the number who they are,
i mean with pinky purpely red face sure, he's probably wearing someone else's face so he can't really count,
but what about self portrait, or the photo from Cory's camera, i could also mention the footage from the episode "Meat",
but that is only the latest episode, so we don't have a chance for someone to report who the killers may be yet.
Perhaps self portrait could also have been a way to fool the police,
i mean really sending a self portrait of yourself after your case goes public is like the dumbest thing to do.
I honestly agree with everything said here- and I think this series could’ve been okay if the subject matter was handled better. Anyway- great video, man! Keep up the great work :]
Thank you for the kind words, I’m glad you enjoyed the video. I got another analysis video on the way!
Mfs will criticize urban spook and then go praise fnaf whos main plot point is child m*rder
I mean fnaf handled it with a lot more care but yeah it is kinda funny
Thank you, I’m so glad you enjoyed!
Ur videos and channel deserves way more coverage love ur reviews and ur content is super underrated
I’m very back-and-forth on Urbanspook, but I will say I think I would react the same way in his position. Months and months of hate is unimaginable. His series also DOES do what it sets out to do-especially pigs. The audio alone is horrific.
Honestly I found the descriptions of the deaths more hilariously absurd than scary
This killer is a total try hard
Our murderer is just turning into anime, apparently.
Cheers. :)
I like it as well. His art is uniquely disturbing to me for some reason.
Cool stuff. :)
Super underrated vid
Thank you!
Was UrbanSpooks inspired by true crime, especially a series of child murders committed by a serial killer dubbed Charlie Chop-Off?
From what I could find, he is mostly inspired by old slasher movies, and new slashers like Terrifier
When someone brought this up, urbanspook became extremely offended and then Martin Walls chimed in.
people keep saying urbanspook is a bad analog horror. i kinda agree, but on his latest episode he did a good job with the real footage and stuff
Hell yeah looking forward to this
First i want to say, because most niggas wont read all of this, urbanslug/spook is visually incredibly talented and is prodigious in sound design as well as a composer in the fucked up visceral industrial guttaman of gravedigger mountain techno synth music genre
God i do not envy being under 20 in the social media age😅 spook reminds me alot of eli roth in both content and attitude (but actually talented)and, unfortunately, the more direct nature of social media, social climate plus the bois age, level of sensitivity and angst made for a shit show that may have, best case, stunted the artistic growth of a youngin temporarily right before a new high was about to be reached, and i hope he doesn't let the insecurities take his drive away for good.
Also Your grandma must be cool and a badass
Thankyou for coming to my ted talk
I now want to add an acknowledgement of my own failure to not take things at face value after reaching the end of the video showing evidence spook was 40% way less of a angsty twat and I had only considered the messages presented in videos by likely biased channels i just refuse to interact with most social media platforms in this case somewhat to my opinions detriment I still stand on my assessment of him being a goober that all being said just to slightly lesser degree I again commend your research on this definitely earned a new subscription here
LOVE the AHS style intro keep it up man these videos are amazing💪 and would you ever do one about Mandela?
I do love me some Mandela. I will probably cover it at some point, just not too sure when. It would be quite the undertaking
Tmetal this part is just such cool and just insane editing here with the screams of isabelle merging with the power drill and the scream of the painting this is just so cool and well edited good job my guy👍1:09:56

This is the best analog horror ever made, truly disgusting how much hate UrbanSPOOK gets fr fr
0:00 i don’t like it for horror, i like it because of the actions being taken by the killers, which coming from someone who does forensics as a bit of a fan is disturbing and disgusting, that’s why i like it, because it gives a different kind of shock value, one where you don’t deal with monsters beyond comprehension, but with cases where it could happen if someone was crazy enough, if someone could kill john lennon because of a novel, what could stop someone in the real world to do something like this, and plus not to mention it feels like a report of a mix between ed gein, robert berdella, and john wayne gacy, and to know this could happen in real life, that is what scares me
Also how did the painter know these peoples names
analysis of urbanspook itself starts at 8:32
Boy, I'm late to comment on this one, but did you know that if you disagree with the content of a video that you don't have to watch it, right? Otherwise, just look elsewhere.
fucking facts (although i enjoy a lot of the more "shite" analogue horror)
@@IamEscBoy Some of it is enjoyable because it is such shite, but in a very different way of course. It is like watching Troll 2, you enjoy it because it is bad. I'd always rather find quality content, but I think most people enjoy some absolute slop from time to time as long as that slop is genuine and has heart to it.
@@jeremysmith4620 yeah. i personally don't find most of it scary, but a lot of them tell some very interesting stories
My issue with this series is its shock horror with no build up. It feels like its made to be edgy for the sake of being edgy.
i really like the editing in this video
[ i Live where i can't breath & eat without teeth ]
Sea turtle= Kareta kareta, it has No teeth &lives in the sea where cant breath in water ..
Or the whale 🐳 that's toothless, i don't remember clearly which of all i think its the sperm one🐋
[ How Far is Tóó Far ?? ]
It's " Far ² "
Ί like Riddles🙏🏻 especially when i solve'em
If they didn’t show the killers face and went in to less detail it would have been a lot scarier
Like you said both sides have good and bad reasons for their reactions and its just a mess that hopefully they can fix with each other rather than fans making things worse on both sides like they are
I think he created the WORST sub genre of analog horror... Shock Analog Horror
During the barn area i could barely hear your voice because of all the loud noise
Yeah, my mic was terrible back then
my ears oh god my ears oh god my ears oh god
1:56/ 3:51/ 8:25 skipping intro
I don't think [skin face/purple face]is jack because if you look at urban spooks community post when he got 80k subs he drew some are of skin face and if you look closer he has hair and as we know jack is bald and if you look closer in the most recent video by urban spook and if we look closer at the security camera skin face has hair
NEW VIDEO DROPPED IT’S ALL REAL HOLY SHIT
I gotta be honest I think this series is overhyped. I have seen and experienced worse horror than this. And horror real horror is supposed to disturb you and horrify you. In my opinion the story and some of the art style needs some work. But to get upset over this where there have been movies( more brutal), stories and some reddit threads that have been more brutal and graphic than what is portrayed in this series. Great job on the video. Well done
meh...is pure torture porn.
Lots of violence, few reasons.
you become desensitized very quickly.
especially after in the walls
when the killer used a horse to kill his victim I just started laughing at how stupid that is.
@@aliceyagami8260 b movies can be a fun time, even with all the goresploitation. Urbanspooks series aint perfect, but it can be a fun watch.

Analog Garbage Pail Kids?
You forgot meat.
1:27:00 did bro have to say that ...
😂
1:37:58 No duh... That's the Blacked, BNWO, and QoS communities.
his "analog horror" does have potential but he ruins it by just mostly focusing on shock value with little to no substance on the story element of it not to mention that he kinda acts a bit childish on twitter as well unless that's somebody posing as him and ruining his image I don't know really also I don't really like how he "trolls" on there as I feel like hes serious whenever he says something on there, its hard to tell if hes "trolling" or not, personally I think he should just delete his twitter and never come back on there since theres alot of fools on there and hes just feeding them with his "trolling persona"
Good video
‘Her nose was cut off. Her tongue was cut off. Her eyes were plucked out..’
ah series
It’s not gatekeeping. Pastra is 100% correct. UrbanSpook could have taken the criticism, listened to it, understood where people were coming from, and instead chose to lash out in a childish fashion. Was it a boiling point for him? Probably. Does that make it excusable? Not in the slightest
Sure, he’s nice to his fans, but only because he’s surrounding himself in an echochamber of yesmen supported who only support him and reduce the criticism against him as “cringe autistic snowflakes”
Pastra is right.
Its horror its meant to disturb you if its too disturbing you should leave instead of throwing bitch fits but thats just me
or maybe he just shouldnt be a childish edgelord and not make his arts entire purpose just to make people mad and to "own the libs". maybe then his art would actually be appreciated, if it was actually good and well thought out. just a thought.
I agree people are bitch made these days

wtf is that shit with the clothing. its a fictional Story, no one was harmed in anyway. If someone without the context looks at the picture of cory for example,m they would just think "huh thats odd" only people that know the urbanspook series would get the context, and even then, its a fictional story. jeez
What's the series called
I don't think it has a name but just search Urban Spook and his videos should pop up
The intro was better than the series the video is about....
