Spot shit, attack shit with as much light attack and torpedoes as humanly possible, repeat. It is actually really really fun in my opinion, but incredibly time and ressource consuming. Building a big ass battleship, surrounding it with a bunch of screens and let it shred the US navy is so much fucking fun.
You should do a full navy video, go over things like patrol fleets, battle fleets, fuel conservation, the difference between water terrains, naval air, etc.
Belgium and Luxembourg will not do industrial focuses until early 40s. They are hard coded to do the entire army, airforce, and political branches before they do a single factory focus. It's like the smaller Yugoslav puppets. It's a scam to wait for them to do their industry focuses.
@thetibbiesshow I'm really glad to hear that will be waiting on them for sure, been watching you for a long time, such a relaxed and helpful TH-cam channel keep going champ!
Navy guy here: You may find that light cruisers with armor are pretty good, since ships take way less damage if not penned you can slap armor two in a light cruiser and it'll be a very survivable screen. Abou the destroyers as screening ships, they are neat and expendable but in my view if you manage to have atleast 10 armored light cruisers you can sink a lot more of the enemy screening fleet plus they may survive to fight another day.
Another navy guy here 🤓 : I totally agree ! Light cruisers are way more satisfying, enemy destroyers just melt on contact. It's just a matter of balancing cost and resources. If I have a lot of steel/chromium, I go over lvl 2 turrets and put on armor. If I don't, I have lvl 1/2 turrets and I have light armor or no armor (they're cheap and fast that way). I also make a few destroyers with torpedo launchers for when the enemy screening is gone. And to make my fleet look pretty, I make a few cheap heavy cruisers maxed out on light attack, and eventually a few carriers. But yeah, light cruisers with secondary batteries then cruiser light batteries for the win
@adrianwilliams7856 let's define how much you want to invest into navy. 0% investment is of course convoys only. Let's say 20% investment is playing subs and navs only. It can be very efficient. Just always pick the highest module, engine and torpedoes plus schnorkel, along with a good nav bomber (1940 small aircraft : lvl 2 torpedo, lvl 3 single engine, large fuel tanks, non-strategic material and floats) 50% investment is what I call a "cheap navy", which you can do with most nations especially minors. Just design a destroyer and a heavy cruiser on 1936 modules. Heavy cruiser : two lvl1 or one lvl2 heavy cruiser battery. Max radar, max fire control (if you're playing germany, wait for fire control lvl 3 and refit your ships with it), lvl 2 engine, no armor, a bit of anti-air if you want (but as germany you should have air dominance over the Channel/Mediterranean). Most importantly, three lvl2 secondary batteries (middle slots on the upper bar and next to the engine slot) Destroyer : one lvl1 light battery, maybe one lvl1 anti-air, lvl 2 engine and max lvl torpedo. That's all, they're cheap, fast, and screening the heavy cruiser who does his part, while torpedoes wait for enemy screening to lower. This is quite efficient. The IC ratio (4k/1k IC) makes it necessary to have two production lines of heavy cruiser per line of destroyer (20 dockyards, times 1, 2, 3, 4) 80% investment, which I do the most, still doesn't require a lot of research. It's basically bullding just light cruisers. 1936 template : keep the heavy cruiser template I just mentioned, but replace the heavy batteries with lvl 2 light cruiser batteries. Fit as many as you can, while keeping the three secondary batteries. That's it. Lvl 2 light cruiser batteries are good. You can go lvl3 or higher but then it's expensive IC-wise and also resource-wise (1 steel per battery, per dockyard, makes you go from 20 steel to 50 steel per production line. Germany can keep up, but not Japan). Then make a spotting light cruiser : max engine, radar, one lvl1 destroyer light gun, and all the airplane catapultd you can fit. Nothing else. Put the goggles symbol. Produce 4 of them. With good air, the starting fleet and a few subs to bully allied shipping, it's guaranteed victory for naval Germany/Japan. 100% investment means actively researching navy techs and investing a lot, a minimum of ~80 dockyards. Keep the designs I mentioned above. Produce heavy cruisers, light cruisers and a few destroyers (one line or 5 dockyards are enough for them). Put different symbols (a gun and a shield) for heavy and light cruisers so it doesn't mess with your production (otherwise each type you update one, the game will consider the other outdated). Maybe go up on 1940 cruiser modules for higher engines. Change the engine for all, then upgrade the heavy cruiser batteries to lvl 3 for the heavy cruiser, and upgrade the light cruiser batteries to lvl 3 while adding one in the extra slot of the 1940 module. You can also put armor on your light cruisers if you want, lvl 2 or lvl 3 but it slows it down and makes it wayy more expensive. It's probably good for multiplayer though. You can always add up to three carriers in your navy, very good if you're waiting for 1942 (with 1940 carriers). Just max out the hangar space and engine, absolutely nothing else. So in the end, try not to touch armor, battleship/battlecruisers, and max out that light attack. Light attack comes from secondary batteries, then light cruiser batteries IC-wise. Try to fight under green air, so you can put navs and not put AA on your ships. DO NOT refit if you changed the main batteries, engine or armor. This guide can go for anyone. How do you play naval Germany ? Play a normal game. (Max infra, civs until 1938, reach 20-30 dockyards, refineries until late 1938, then mils and dockyards) You have the navy tech you need for an 80%-100% investment. Finish the ships in production except the subs. Train the starting navy. Put one line on subs, the rest on 15-20 destroyers and infinite light cruisers and heavy cruisers. Put 10-15 mils on navs (you can wait for the 1940 aircraft for that) and 35-40 on fighters. Pick the naval rearmamenf focus here and there, but you can as well wait until 1939. Most of my naval production starts during the war, then I do Barbarossa, then I come back for the UK. If you don't want to fight the US, make an earlier navy build and naval invade after winning the naval battle. You only need two admirals : Donitz for subs and Lutjens for the main navy. Put Donitz in a separate theatre (remember to ask the produced subs to go in that theatre), and put the theatre 1 on high notifications so you know when you engaged someone. Stack all you surface fleet (no subs !!), except for the spotting cruisers. Have the 4 on never engage and patrol where you want. Put the main navy in strike force. Once you're done with France build airports and two radars in Northern France. Put 3k fighters and 1k navs over the Channel. Strangle the UK with subs. Put your fleet on strike force around (so you'll destroy the convoy escort fleets). If you detect ships in a port, place your navs on port strike in the airzone of the state where the port is. Then Sealion. Congrats, you won. Lmao this a lot of yapping
@@pockyrice7418 I totally agree with heavy cruisers as capital ships. The truth is you don't need battleships or battlecruisers, they're slow and expensive. Check out my designs in the other comment. I usually make 4k-5k IC heavy cruisers and 4k-6k IC light cruisers, nothing else matches. Heavy cruisers have good heavy attack, are fast as fuck, cheap, and can screen carriers. Very nice !
navy game is so fun when you just go and and try to understand the basics, i really liked to do with the italian in mediterrean, i have spawned 1936 Destroyers with max light attack, naval bombers deploying from airbases all over mediterrean and only reffiting the big ships, didnt even bother to make new ones.

Can't wait when you'll release Naval Belgium! Oh, I thought about harder challenge: Naval Estonia, Latvia or Lithuania without conquering before WW2 any lands, that are required for Baltic unification!
adding AA to a destroyer is a waste of time, in my opinion. Naval bombers target heavy ships or the most damaged ships, so if your heavy ships alive they will not attack your screening. If they don't attack your destroyers you can't damage them using DD's AA.
Learning from my Italian navy run that I cannot do navy without at least 1 or 2 carrier per fleet. Extra spotting and much reliable for attacking enemy screens. You could do naval CAS with AP bomb if you're insist on no TB challenge (although I don't know exactly how naval damage calculation would be if using naval CAS instead of TB).
The craziest thing that makes sense that for some reason I just never thought of was moving a fleet once you’ve spotted the enemy, I thought they had to engage on their own while on patrol
I think from now on I’m gonna build a bunch of weak fast ass light cruisers with the best radar and a bunch of airplane catapults as a spotting fleet and keep my carriers loaded with torpedo bombers and have them set up to attack when I spot the enemy
