      Agreed, such an ignorant comment. Also (I'm assuming his ancestry is Korean) but Asian Canadians have been living in the Lower Mainland since the late 19th century. Given his age (and his Korean background), you could also reasonably assume that his parents were born in Canada. Disgraceful.

    Hammer is the solidest person I ever met. I know both gentlemen who were in the booth and Bruce was a coach when I reffed I knew he had a temper but while he might act questionable I never would have imagined he would go to that extent

      @@tdfmtig For one that’s playing junior hockey in Canada? definitely out of line, especially to say it on a live broadcast. guy seriously has to give his head a shake. and seconds after he said it was “wrong”. so he knew what he was doing.

    How is this racist? There are white people all over the world who don’t speak English.... Would it have been racist if a player with a Swedish name had that said about him? Plenty of Swedes don’t speak English. It’s only “racist” because Kim is part Asian? The comment is rude end of story not racist. In fact I think his comment about Kim getting on a ladder is worse.

      Give me a example when a announcer said that to a white person, because regardless on who he said it too he would be assuming that someone does not speak english based on where there from, which is why it is considered racist. It doesn't matter where you're from.

      @@ckitchen5288 no it is racist, the announcer in the context that he used was in racist way. Owen was literally born in Vancouver. The announcer should've know this considering the game is in Vancouver. He said what he said based on his name or appearance which is the racist part. It all depends on the context. And yes if you live in Canada you should know at least some english or French. And if not then people shouldn't joke about in a hockey game.
