Imagine someone has one million dollars for you, you either have thr choice of putting it in a companys name and then they pay you, or you name have it in your name and they can identify and come straight to you.
What Cake said and basically it's your own producer/engineer signature, all your work can be found with your code.
Can i add ISRC codes generated by international online distribution company to RISA portal when uploading such songs? Example, those that starts with QP.

The UPC code is typically used for projects. So if your song is a single then yes, add the UPC code the same way. If the song is part of a project, I wouldn’t suggest that you add those codes in.
So Skill. What if i am solo artist and also a crew member. Should i as a solo artist register and the crew register as well?

I will look into it and get back to you. You might be able to use your current DAW to insert the metadata. “Song Properties” etc.

MARKETING and PRESS before release but that's up to you. Depending on the country you're from, you might need to copyright it. In SA, it's not necessary.
Bro do I need internet for that, and am trying to open file but it doesn't show anything do I to open an account with the software cos my isrc code doesn't show when I open that software
Hi there. Great video by the way. I like and appreciate learning more. I was just curious if the embedded isrc code in the saved Wav file gets transferred to an MP3 if you were to convert that Wav file into an MP3 file? Or do I need a different isrc code for the MP3 of that same song ? Thanks. :)
Hi, I'm glad I could help out. It depends on how you convert the file but typically doesn't get transfer when converted. You have to embed the SAME ISRC code for both file types. If it's the same recording, use the same ISRC regardless of the file type/format.

@@michaelraytyler9678 It depends on how it was converted. Some software transfer the data, some don't so that's why I said it depends first. But you can easily check this yourself in the MP3.

Cool, diggin' the information. However, why would you have to check the quality after adding your iSRC code? I am pretty sure that it has nothing to do with the sound quality portion of the file whats so ever. I may sub your channel.
If you’re saving a file through a software, there’s a codec that’s being used to save the file. As there isn’t any information about the method, rather be safe than sorry. Also the file size changes with Sonoris which is usually a sign that there is a slight file compression taking place.

Can Sonoris embed UPC code as well?
I have tried the iTunes and VLC methods. They don't save permanently. I'm trying this next. Anyone know why the previous wouldn't work?
I saw on one of your videos where you showed us to upload using distro kid.It needed an Isrc code.If we upload the code on the song before we upload so we then still need to fill the same code in on distrokid?
My second question is then if we choose to upload a number of songs do we need have only one code for all the songs or different codes according to the number of songs on the album?
You have to enter the ISRC code again. They assume most musicians don’t embed so they didn’t add the feature. Each song has its on ISRC code.

Is there an easy way to fin d ISRC and UPC codes of songs without having access to the distributor account it was uploaded from? Must I ask all my collaborators for these codes each time?
Only one ISRC is assigned and it’s usually from the main artist’s codes. Same as UPC. Getting the codes isn’t easy if you’re not the main act though unless the artist has uploaded to something like discog. Will let you know if I find an easy way to get these details.

I'm glad you find this info useful. Typically you don't put the dashes. They just put them there when you get it so they can explain.

It can be applied for musicians anywhere. My channel is currently focused on the SA context so getting your ISRC code will be different but embedding will be the same.
How do you check to see if the ISRC code went through successfully?
My band was looking to release out single through Tunecore and it seems they provide an IRSC code, can I embed that into the song or is it necessary to get one from RISA
You can use the one you get from Tunecore.

Have a look through the comment section, there have been a few helpful people for Mac users.
Question : I have the ISRC code and i registered some songs last year. I'm busy registering a new one, so do after changing the year of release do i start counting the songs in the new album from 001 or do i continue from the last song code from last year which ended with 22(which is the last track on the last album). so in essence after i alter the new year do i end this years ISRC code with 23 picking up from my last release? Hope I make sense.
Honestly, it's up to you. You just have to change the reference year to the current year. The end numbering can start from 001 or continue but I'd start from 001.

Do you require a different ISRC for the same recording of a song, just different formats? One is a WAV file and the other is a MP3 file of the same recording and song?
No you don't. If the recording is identical, just different format, you don't.

Hi, I don't think it's possible with a phone.
Do distributors accept tracks that are already imbedded ?
or can I use distro embedded tracks for major platforms and independent ISRC for submissions like films and ads etc. ? what is the best way to go about ?
They do but they forward your inputted data to the audio service who then encode again. So it's not crucial for that. It's when you're giving your music via email or file transfers that it's important.

Try getting it to streaming platforms or radio etc. There are lots of options.

Go to the PPL website and create an account, after that you can create ISRC codes for each new separate tracks.

With Distrokid, there is a link that says "have your own ISRC". You click there and place your ISRC there. There is some encoding/modification that's done again to your audio once you upload so that's why you have to put in all that metadata/info again.

There's no real way. If someone is serious about changing it, there are several ways to do it.

Does it make a difference if you capture an ISRC Code as ZA-SW4-22-00001 as communicated by RISA compared to ZASW42200001 as shown in your example?
Like I did in the video. RISA puts it like that for explanation purposes.
Eish, I made the mistake of putting my songs on to DSP's and 1 or 2 radio stations without embedding my isrc codes into my MP3 and wav files, hoping I could add it later...I suppose there's nothing I can do about that now...

It’s not only for SOuth African people but my channel’s main audience is South African. I talk about an ISRC code from RISA which is the South African ISRC authority.

Yes you can. You'll have to get your own ISRC codes from your own country but the rest should work.
ISRC CODES ARE POINTLESS SO IF YOU THINK YOU NEED THIS INFORMATION TO REGISTER YOUR SONG WITH ASCAP? YOU'RE WRONG. ASCAP DOESN'T TRACK A SONG/WORK USING ISRC CODES. ASCAP TRACKS PER TITLES AND THE INFO IS GENERALLY PROVIDED BY THE LICENSING COMPANY.
To my understanding, they wouldn’t use the ISRC because the code is linked to the sound recording. So Spotify, Apple Music, soundexchange and other similar entities that track sound recordings use them. So if you don’t want revenue from the sound recording, it’s useless. But if you do, then I think it’s best you use your ISRC.

Love the energy and appreciate the comment. If you watched the video, there are certain things only South African Musicians can relate to. Such as RISA and the sub-processes within. My audience is mainly South African so I'm making it clear to them that it will be most useful to them.
