First driver I ever rooted for was Rusty way back in the mid 80's. Rusty spoke about the void when your favorite driver retires. That is what happened to me when Rusty retired. After a few years of not really caring, I settled on Carl Edwards and what happened? He retired and since then I have half hearted rooted for Brad in the #2 because why? Rusty drove that car. I have lost the excitement that I used to have. Don't think I will ever like a driver more than Rusty Wallace. Enjoyed the interview and don't worry Kenny, I rooted for you also.

What an awesome interview. Wish it was a few hours long. When Rusty crashed at Talladega in '93, we were sitting in the Birmingham Tower. We were big Earnhardt fans, but it looked like Dale took Rusty out almost intentionally. I'm sure he didn't, but it sure looked that way. You could've heard a pin drop in those stands as nobody was breathing. It looked really bad, then finally Rusty came out of that car. Dale was there with your driving gloves in his hands. I know he was one relieved guy when he saw you was going to be ok. Scary moment. (and I've seen many scary moments at 'Dega, but that ranks right up there with Bobby's wreck in the tri-oval in '87) As a side note, Martin conducted this interview better than anybody I ever heard. Really asked some great questions, and then let the men talk. I tip my hat!

The race when Bobby Allison tore down the catch fence, while the track crew were repairing the fence, the fans got to enjoy a wet Tshirt contest in the stands. The good old days. Tickets back then at the Birmingham Tower were $35-$40.

Hey Kenny great to see you get on the you tube band wagon! Good to see Rusty, and I agree NASCAR is sliding down hill. I use to love to watch those rivalries of the old days.
My wife set next to Rusty at a Bristol fund raiser around 96. She came home and told my son she sat next to some guy with a Miller label on his shirt who got into a big black truck with a few other guys when he left. My son took her to his bedroom to huge poster on the wall and pointed. My wife says “yes that was the guy right there” pointing at Rusty. She was in big trouble for not getting a photo or an autograph. We have never let her live that down.
Good to see you both. Thank for being you. “Just good ole country boys”

A race of rustys I'll always remember is when my best friend Greg Moore during the race at talladega after rusty fell out the race came and asked rusty to get in the 15 car because rudd was sick and rudd use to frustrate us all because he sucked at talladega. I was watching the race where Rusty flipped on the last lap at Talladega. It was on ESPN, I believe in '93. Couldn't see any movement from the car afterward and was very worried. I'd been a Davey Allison fan and of course we lost him two months later and had lost Alan Kulwicki a month prior to Talladega. Very fortunate to have gotten to see all 3 of these gentlemen at Talladega in '91 and '92 for the spring race, and also two of them in IROC there.

Rusty Wallace, I’d categorize him as certifiable wheelman & definitely a tough customer. In my opinion Rusty is only a few drivers that wasn’t intimidated by Dale Earnhardt. When it came to Jeff Gordon, Rusty seemed to be a junkyard dawg that chewed through the chain link fence & is coming for ya. That’s another thing. You really can’t have a full conversation about Dale or Jeff without mentioning Rusty Wallace somewhere..
I was surprised that 2005 would be his final year. I easily thought he had another 3-5 years for sure. I could feel his vibe to still want to race when he was calling Indy car races & Xfinity races after his retirement. Speaking of which, I’m sure the masses wouldn’t mind if Rusty came to the booth & called races again.

No place like home they say? You two, and Schrader, the local trio of trubadors- home spun heroes of the heartland and the local racing community. None of you ever abandoned your deep roots. After all the tedious pitfalls and the great triumphs>>> home, once again. Welcome back. As a general car fanatic since the age of 8, many aspects of the automotive lure have held me captive my entire life. From Saturday morning treks to the neighborhood hobby shop- Charlie's Hobby Shop South St Louis- to buy all those Revell and AMT model kits. Watching ABC's Wide World of Sports. Watching their edited segments from Atlanta, Charlotte and Darlington thinking --boy I'll never get to see any of those tracks. And there were the huge swap meets, long before American Pickers were in vouge, those meets remain vital elements of gearhead life. Back when The Ray Farner Custom Autorammas with color wheels illuminating Candy Apples and all those angel haired displays-- the cool stuff came to town-- straight from the pages of Rod & Custom Magazine. Your circle of gear grinders may recall a patch of dirt just off of Forest Avenue in Valley Park just through other side of a certain railroad tunnel. Before it saw pavement I recall one particular dark marron old Ford coupe #28...although only able to get their a handful of times the place left a major impact. The hobby cars, sportsman and modifieds, Sponsers like Siveking and Berry Auto Parts. Remember that place...??? Fast forward to the late 70's and I'm a pump jockey at a Texaco. Checking tires wiping windows the garage/station where I learned the short shoe always goes in front. And right near the end I got to witness the last days of Lakehill, driving my old 47 Kaiser out there on many a Sunday night. Oh the cars I've had..even a few muscle cars. The problem was--by the the time any muscle car fell into my hands>>> it was in dire need of steroids. I could ramble on and on here....Merry Christmas to you Kenny and to your brothers and to Schrader...

Seen Rusty win his last race at Martinsville..Almost got hit with a piece of blacktop off turn 4 there as the track was coming to pieces all weekend..Race was stopped for 2hrs when huge pothole developed and tore up Gordon's 24 car. Drank somma the best ever grape shine that week. ✌

Speaking of Hollywood, I just tuned in the 500 and qho do I see ? Tony Stewart in the booth , with enough protein 29 on that head , my first thought was is that the godfather? Lol .

Will any of the Wallace bros. drive in Tony Stewart’s new circuit? I liked NASCAR back when there were fights in the stands, over drivers. Fights among wives of racers! I wish they had a circuit of older young racers like Rusty and Kenny, on the NASCAR tour! Kenny please put out a schedule where you are racing!

As a fan grew up on the Wallace boys. Rusty, Mike and Kenny. Went to school with Mike's daughter Christy. Rusty was my driver true cowboy. However, Kenny Wallace is my spirit animal lol. I like that Nascar is finally coming back around to the "roots" aspect of the sport. The venues have gotten very boring, very excited for the changes on the horizon.

I got to meet Kenny after an ASA race at Milwaukee mile, think it was 89 or 90. Rusty was also in it but fell out early. A great guy, talked to us about the race and signed some autographs.

Was Christy the one that raced?
I remember Mike's daughter drove a few races way back when and did real well but then she disappeared?
I always thought about her when Danica Patrick was racing...lol

Nobody can fill that void. The drivers are all clones. Nascar doesn't want drivers with personalities anymore. Everyone gets offended by every word spoken, its ridiculous. The days of fun are over.

It’s not the tracks that fans don’t like !!!! It’s the car !!!! These cars there racing are clones, we want drivers to build there cars races there cars and have secrets that give them an advantage !!!

If NASCAR wants fans back then go back to the days when Lee Petty and Richard, the older guys can still compete. The sport is so closed off to family history or people with deep pockets that's it's near impossible for guys like myself and others to have a chance to drive in any division of NASCAR. So focused on kids barely old enough to drive on the street that the older fans are just over it! Give the fans older drivers to route for instead of just these kids, not taking away from their talent at all but the sport is so closed off. Have try outs like other professional sports where people can come. NASCAR may be surprised

To have it out like the 🌶 bowl if there's a wreck and want to fight it out turns 1 and 2and beat it out of each other they should do it in nascar and make rules they always break them up no let's have it out like a hockey fight break it up after the fighter that gets the best of the other then break it up

Oh come on, Bristle died exactly when they regrooved it to have two plus lanes in the turns. That one to one n a half lane is what made Bristle old school racing (that nascar couldn't screw up like they had every other track/race). The first race with the regrooved asphalt was the last sellout at Bristle, feel free to fact check me on that.

Nascar may be trying to pull attendance up and network viewership also. I will never watch again because there toyotas out there. Many people state well its made now in the U.S. I do not care because it's not a Ford, Chevy, Dodge etc. Nascar turned it's back on me, a life long fan who grow up by Charlotte Motor Speedway and was able to meet many, many of the old Nascar greats. Just like the Wallace family these were racers I grew up watching since childhood. They were rough around the edges but great men unlike these luckdog pass candy asses on the tracks now. These are not the "came up the hard way" guys like the Wallace's, Earnhardt's, Allison's or any other racer pre 2001. Nascar you turned you back on us? Yep you did. You wanted to appeal to the younger trendy crowd and look....you're financially collapsing and now you want me back?? Your trendy kiddos you are pandering to have attention span of a bug hitting a windshield. Screw Nascar. That and football are never again allowed in my home. I watch Kenny and Earnhardt Jr's youtube and Stapleton42's channel. Never again Nascar don't just forget me and trying to come whining your ass back in my door. I am a proud southern boy where it all started so F. off nascandyass.

the stands are not full because they have turned it into a video game. stop every 100 laps so everybody can catch up. green white checker what a joke. I used to plan my week by NASCAR, now if it happens to be on regular TV, and im not doing anything, Ill watch it. people also used to root for a certain car company. now they are all the same with decals for the parts. to call these cars mustangs and cameros are a joke. and the camry is a front wheel car. how do you relate to these. a lot of the new drivers are easy to like and follow, too bad they dont a have a good sport to drive in.
