@@itsmikelake are the replacements for parts expensive? or easy to get? i live in argentina and there are almost no datzuns because in the moment they were selling our country began a non importing fase of the economy.

I just acquired a 280 almost in the exact same condition. I don’t have much knowledge on fixing these kinda things. It’s how I actually found this video. It’s encouraging to see that it is possible to fix it.
That is such a beautiful car! I'm glad you put so much time and work into that Z so you could enjoy it! Also, thank you for saving it from where it was before!
The whole time I was scared to death thinking you would keep the rust and damage untouched, and just have the pretty paint over it. Thank goodness by the end you actually stripped the whole thing and fixed it all, had me worried.
Please wear better protection when painting. Proper ventilation is also required. You could be very sick down the line if you don’t look after your safety.
SHE LIVES! Hell yeah Dr. Frankenstein, I wish I had your skillset. Cruising in something you brought back like that must be so damned satisfying. Hope she'll be good to you for a LONG time!😁👍
Heck of a transformation. Glad to see i'm not the only one with mismatched DIY paint on repairs (edit: until respray - nice!)...and your car looks killer!
Subbed! Love to see another aussie car YT! Wish you were around NSW. Love the work on the Datsun! I always have a soft spot for older datto’s and Nissan’s. Makes me miss my 88’ Exa
So inspiring. I have this same car but I got mine for $500USD. It’s rust free and paint and body is premium. Only issue is someone jacked the wheels and tossed a log through the front window. It is coming home to me on Monday and I hope mine looks as half as good as yours. The inside of mine is red and silver outside. But that blue is epic.
Agreed. These are the tyres that came on the wheels. I’ve been looking for wider tyres, not actually very easy to find in 16’s! Thinking I’ll go 235 instead of the current 215 👌🏻
I like this build a lot, it first bothered me that you didn't remove the rust completely the first time, and used fibreglass to "repair" the holes. however, I think you had in mind to respray and redo the bodywork anyway so now I don't mind. I hope you did use epoxy primer ;) as a rusty car owner myself, I know the importance of preventing rust lmao. last weekend I had in mind to repair a little rust hole under my door, that turned out to be half a car length of rust... which I had to cut out, haven't had time to patch the hole, but I did already clean the inside of rust and used Epoxy to seal the inside for preventing rust. love the car, paint has a few imperfections, but really good for a home sprayed car.
I clicked on this and got an idea to replace the wheel flares. Instead of the black rivet look over each wheel well, I figured out a way to give it the wide look, without screwing a flare over each wheel. The car would have same look on the body as yours without having the screw on flares look- thanks bruh!
@@itsmikelake do you know of any other affordable vintage or retro cars as class as the 280zx or 240z, I love them but it seems I’ll never get one, any alternatives?

Hey there, thanks so much for 280zx content, i actually really like this car and bought one for 3 grand with 69k miles! Question, does anyone make bolt on struts? i am NO welder haha and would rather pay a little more for bolt on
Hey Bryan, unfortunately no one that I know of makes the bolt on struts. They're all weld kits. Most local shops will do the welding for you for a pretty small fee! Good luck with your build bro, 69k miles is awesome!
This is one of my dream cars. The exact same color as yours with copper watanabes, sadly I won’t be able to get my hands on one because where I live they want 5-10,000 for one that doesn’t start.
Great Clip Mike, I should have kept my 280 two tone slick top, same blue and silver, great high speed cruiser, enjoy yours now, it will fly with a grunty barra, even without a turbo.
Thanks bro! Ahh unfortunately I can't run smaller wheels as the frame of the car would literally be sitting on the ground...It's already stupid low with these wheels. That's why I got the 15 inch faces with the 16 inch stepped lips on them. The rails sit so damn low on these cars 😫

Beautiful. The 1st wheel u got actually looks perfect for the z..
