I personally find Evangelicals divided into two categories of their own: 1. Far Right 2. Far Left I came through & was ordained within Charismatic COGIC. They held to many of the Traditionalist doctrines while I was there. The reports, you mentioned; were just one of the reasons I left when I started pastoring. Many of my friends, who pastor; are now leaving for the same reasons.
I was told some years ago that the National Church would not require dues from a starting Church for 5 years to allow them to get established. Sad that the system did not continue.
Great detail on these. I prefer your term at the end, “Perspective” vs. “Faction” in distinguishing these groups. As a lifelong COGIC member (65) with generations of family before and after me steeped in the denomination, I believe some of all of these can benefit the body of Christ centering on seeking to serve Him and not let flesh be glorified
We got enough factions to come together and do exploits we should never divide but we should multiply and grow because we have enough information to do it if we don't become separate ourselves.
That’s the beauty of our church…we’re not separate groups. Different members of the same body with different callings.. ALL representing the love of Christ ❤
I agree u r not apart of us even though u have connections. However, all of the 6 categories r all apart of COGIC and I am apart of 5. The 6th I agree with but I am not really able to participate as I would like. I am 84 and a retired musician and I have been in COGIC all my life. I believe that it is the greatest church in the world. ( I saw u at the convocation sitting in the choir area.)
Thankful to have been brought up around traditionalist holiness C.O.G.I.C saints. Many of my aunts and uncles got saved in the church during the era when Bishop Mason was still alive and they undeniably carry something different… It seems with every new Presiding Bishop, the church becomes more progressive and finds itself straying further away from the foundation Bishop Mason laid. Many of us younger saints are committed to holding onto the tenets and affirmation of our faith staying dedicated to biblical truths and the disciplines of our heritage. We aren’t interested in switching up our theology or practices to move with the times. We want to hold fast to Scripture and preserve the values and practices that so many are forgetting about today. It seems as if all we know how to do now is "church"
We can be progressive and you should. However being progressive doesn't mean you have to lose the tentacles of the faith. The Bible says, "he that wins souls are wise". However what brought us into Christ is not the same for young people because the needs have changed and we need to adapt to it. However, reading the word, obeying the word, fasting and praying should never be abandoned because that is the only thing that will last.
@@kevinharris3993 True, but now it seems as if all many within the church know how to do is dance and “have church,” with little understanding of our Affirmation of Faith or the knowledge and disciplines that once defined us. Practices such as dedicated and regular prayer and fasting, tarrying for the Holy Spirit, praying through, testimony services, deliverance ministry, and a deep commitment to holiness and sanctification seem to have diminished. These were the spiritual disciplines that not only rooted us but also sustained the power and presence of God in our lives and services. Without these foundational practices, the essence of what made us distinct risks being lost.

I grew up under a grandfather who is Baptist my whole family is Baptist. I knew nothing about Church of God In Christ after high school sweetheart. Who was Church of God in Christ fallen out of church? I discovered the Church Of God In Christ a very meaningful way and feel with the Holy Spirit 1968. I found a true intimacy with God, but I worship your categories rather interesting and I guess I’ve evolved from the, strict, traditional list, not necessary, progressive but almost there, but I’d rather describe myself as transformational Romans, two as we ourselves as living sacrifice worship the main element of the relationship and worship is sacrifice in terms of value God more than valuing the flesh. I’m sure this of that for people, but it includes more than that transformational in my opinion includes, finding people other face who believe in Jesus Christ finding our common ground interacting with each other, sharing with each other involved in ministry with each other yes, holiness is a lifestyle person is only in heaven, but you cannot do this. It’s not what you said, holy to be transformation to become begins with the renewing of the mind to believe heart to receive the man thinks in his heart, he becomes what he thinks and as it Gets but it gets in our lifestyle and our spirit and we are spirit. Spirit becomes stronger take control of the flesh. Does that mean seeing it just means selfish it just means caring to what we were born with focus on self rather than others and so discipleship includes that growth pattern or growth factor from living controlled flesh in my faith is led by the spirit the holy spirit hope that explains
My guess is Macklin will beat out Sheard on the next go around. They were within 100 votes of each other. With that said, Macklin is from the old school so he may not run against Sheard out of loyalty. Dillard will also not run against Sheard out of loyalty, especially after his first term on the board. Dillard will definitely be the PB at some point within the next 8-12 years.
@Hendo496 If Macklin really wanted to be PB, he would have run this election. I think that's over for him. The next election, he will be nearly 80 years old. Chances of him getting elected at that age is highly unlikely.
You mentioned that you could not "afford" to be in the COGIC. Other than license holder reports, what other financial obligations are you referring to?
I just don’t understand the “report” money and paying for a piece of paper or license to preach! God never said get licensed and go preach! This is like a pyramid scheme in the church! Especially with allllllllllllllll these different conferences and so forth! I make a 150.00 report for Superintendent JoJo, when my youth conference come Jojo makes a 150.00 report. It’s crazy! It’s about money, titles, prestige and power within the organization.

I just found out yesterday why people like being on the “general board”. I heard that their salary is get this….$150,000/year and all traveling expenses are paid for.
That’s not correct. There is a salary but not that high. The PB gets a certain amount and the other GB member get a certain amount. My issue is they are paid, but when they go to execute their duties go to work0 they are compensated for it by the people they went to serve. When I travel for my institution and company they covered my expenses, but where I went did not pay me for coming.
@@rbbeatz5591 no what I mean by that is, outside of the general board, many of them already make more than that, like Bishop Sheard. I’m talking BEFORE they even got to the general board. So it’s a pay cut for them. My point is, that’s not necessarily the reason they want to be on there.
Also you didn't mention about the musical the Levites of the Church of God in Christ😢 Levites the praise.. singers team was very important for Jehoshaphat😊.. we shouldn't forget I praise is in the COGIC Paul and Silas it's a proven fact Bishop Mason song Yes Lord people got healed

How about we do 4!? and not so much the other 2. They are all in play, with less emphasis on 'progressing' and 'cultural' veins. The other 4 should shape how much you do in the other 2. I disagree that these are the factions...In Central Illinois, we were all about the 4 and had real respect for them. The body is not divided, the whole gospel is available all the time. We should all be apt to preach, teach and reach along with loving and preferring those of the household of faith, first. We can help the others as led, but we need the body strong foremost. We are called to blend all those lines and not be limited to the favorite of the pastor. Pastors should make room for all gifts and callings to operate, in order.

They’ve been convinced that anything “black adjacent or black sounding” isn’t of GOD, but I don’t see any of them refusing to accept any of the benefits that blacks have received via the civil rights movement. They never rarely preach or speak out against GLARING racial bigotry or hatred WHICH IS A SIN, by the way, because they deep down hate being black. I don’t pay that bunch no mind.
