    I noticed last night that Franz didn't exactly put his whole heart and soul into throwing that ball at the window - although after last time, nobody could exactly blame him from withholding his best pro-baller efforts.
    Forgot to say how great your coverage in this video is. Learnt far more than last night's delivery event.

    Great video. Franz should be ashamed for even accepting to slow-throw a baseball, he's better than that, but aside from that, everything looks great. The rear casting is mental. V2G deserves more press than it's getting, but I'm guessing there's so other requirements to truly make that work (i.e. I doubt my early V2 Powerwall will support it). The main takeaway though is that anyone comparing the production hell of Model 3 is way off base. They're not making Cybertrucks in a tent by hand here, they have the production line humming. Maybe only for a day, and they need to build another, but night and day compared to Model 3.

    So the CyberTruck as it is produced now does have some limitations:
    1. For construction purpose use you cannot load the rear box from either side since the stainless steel body goes up pretty high and basically loading happens from the rear.
    2. The rear window view is blocked when the rear box cover is closed and have to rely on cameras and the display for backing up.
    3. The tires are custom and would be expensive to replace or use aftermarket rims with common tires at an additional cost.
    4. The stainless steel body panels still will face scratch issues faced in construction.
    I think the main use for this CyberTruck will be for off road use and those who like something different and new. I think it is less suitable for those in construction where the Ford F150 Lightning would be better suited.
    The price of the CyberTruck went up from around $ 40,000 for the pre-production base model (rear wheel drive) in 2019 to the actual delivery price at around $ 60,000 and is still not available yet since they only produce the 2 and 3 motor versions at a higher price.
    The CyberTruck with current pricing remains a rich man's toy especially when you factor in the life expectancy before components have to be replaced, such as the door electric entry buttons, the hydraulic body lift pumps, the custom tires, the box cover motor, etc.
    So if one makes a quick calculation one would have to replace the main battery after about 10 years of use also (2% battery degradation per year pending on quantity of charge cycles and driving habits) this becomes a less economical vehicle being as heavy as it is.
    At $ 40,000 I would have bought one, but at $ 60,000 it is simply not a great value.

      And then... (1)
      Somebody (me) says "Why not add a full length heavy duty bed slide?"
      .
      And immediately it's a REALLY versatile work truck with great security?
      Then someone says (me again)
      "Look at that L Track under the LED light strips.... You could mount a shelf, or slide on that!" (With quick release latches if you have tall items to carry)
      Mount some boxes or partitions on that and you have easy access tool storage (slide it to the back)
      .

    • @rogerstarkey5390
      @rogerstarkey5390 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The battery warranty is 8 years or 150,000 miles, I'm sure they expect more.
      You'll be basing your estimate on old
      tech. These cells are low stress, new tech (Heat kills cells, these run cool)
      .
      And other things.

    • @mauriceharting5877
      @mauriceharting5877 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@rogerstarkey5390 Any type of EV battery, be it old or newer technology, has a limited charging cycle life.
      I have the latest 100 Ah lipo battery and it has a 3,000 charge cycle life expectancy.
      It is not just heat of the EV battery, but charge cycle limitations. EV batteries have a limited life. If you disagree with that why don't Tesla and other EV vehicle maker not offer a 16 year or 300,000 miles warranty?
      Eight years is offered because at 10 years these batteries under perform dramatically.

  • @iowa_don

    What I want to know is this. They can't deliver Model Y's in Texas legally so how did those ten owners actually get their Cybertrucks delivered in Texas?? Or maybe Tesla is going to ship the trucks to them wherever they do live later.
    More than a little bummed about the range. I wonder of the extender battery pack is removable, seems like it would be pretty darn heavy.

    Actually less than half of Cybertruck production line floor space is for automated phases. Whole upstairs that they did not show seems to be (mostly) for manual production phases (opposite what has been speculated in TH-cam) and at least half of end part of this floor (¼ to ⅓ of total floor space) is for manual phases. The upstairs can also spill over to Model Y production line in thsi floor. Very advanced automation level, but apart of few certain phases, nothing to brag on.
