randomly came across your channel and started watching. ended up downloading Risk and trying it out. won my first game with 2 masters and 3 beginners. on this same map.
I would have gone for the orient. With the blizzards you end up with a two point hold for that and southeastern Europe.
Ya, but having an easy 1 point hold for a bonus right off the bat, and gunning for a very weakly held but powerful secondary position was the better play. His 1 point hold was in a hot spot and was going to get broken eventually. Plus Orange eventually leaving it to take Russia made getting the Orient pretty much free.
At some point the bonuses are less important than cards. Once the cards are trading in for 30 you should be looking to kill players with your cards to get their cards instead of just getting 5 extra troops from a bonus.
Only when Card Trading is on Progressive. On normal, cards are a tipping point, but it's really the bonuses that will help you. Which is why it's sometimes in furiating meeting players who play in 'normal' non-progressive games, but will happily waste time going to war with another player, usually me for some reason, than breaking the bot with 2 very high bonuses while they and the player they waring with, have no bonuses. lol
Like seriously, the last match I was in, a guy was just gunning for me, for no reason. He was in his own bonus area he could have gone for. Nope, had to constantly go into mine and break mine while fighting me. All the while the other player and 2 bots were getting bonuses, setting up, and eventually wiped him out. It was so insanely stupid to watch.
@@JirodyneDude, not too long ago, the only bot FROM THE START, won the game, because the player that was winning, was more interested in truing to kill me (second strongest) than breaking the bot bonuses which I couldn't get to (also doesn't make sense for me since I'm not winning). That player happily let the bot win just to make sure I had no chance of a comeback...
This game is honestly much more frustrating than fun a lot of times. My fault is I can be a bit too aggressive, but jeez, I break a bonus once with 3 plauers left (although I was strongest) and that guy immediately sabotages into me letting the 3rd guy get the easiest victory of a lifetime.
@@karililjendalAs a general rule, only break a bonus if you can safely withstand them suiciding into you. Try to be the best neighbor and everyone's best friend while slowly securing your own bonuses.
@@Gardolind I did just win a game today where after there were only 3 players left, I was completely losing with a clear winner. The winner however, never broke my one continent. I matched his troops at the border until we both left our borders at the same high stack. Let the other 2 fight a bit, and broke some of the 2nd players territory after he took out a lot of 1st's troops. When the player in second was weaker than me, I traded and slammed into the lead players bonuses and managed to kill him a few rounds later while the other player was too weak to do anything.
Moral of the story: The lead player could've taken me out much sooner and won the game. Sure, the other player would use the opportunity, but it was still the right play, as I eventually demonstrated despite getting half as many troops as him for every turn.
Ya, but if you get a big enough bonus early, it gives you a humongous advantage in controlling the board. With a good choke point to stack troops on to protect certain bonuses, the game won't last long enough for card trades to catch up.
32 troops per turn is beyond most card trades. Even if someone card trades on 3, you still got 64 or 96 troops in that time to have a dominant lead and keep everyone else down. If you press it enough, you could even begin card blocking (its BM but if you already have that advantage, its gonna happen at some point if there's any kind of chokepoint/pocket territory with limited movement.

i think purple{pink} was scumbag botting. he was there sometimes because purple {pink}wasnt acting like an bot in the middle of game. he was protecting bonuses and not leaving troops behind like blue.

Plz try playing the skull and crossbones maps with blizzards and caps, map is so choked up that fights are inevitable. Just wait for people to fight then clean em up 😂
10:39 could’ve got the blue elimination this turn for 4 cards, since the trade ins were around like 40 troops.
I was playing a game and had 5 in west africa and 3 in Spain, with 2 blizards in South spain and north west africa, 1 in central italt, and 2 in the northern france, and i took that all in turn 2 (I had a cap with 6 and the province with 4) and then purple player had cap in north africa southern, and left it opened so I swooped that up and took italy and west af, on turn 5, and some more blizards in the ottoman area too lmao. Best match ever the round ended turn 25 after everyone botted out except two after finding out how many bonusses i had.
That wasn't a match, that was a beatdown. Got that nice bonus early, swipped another bonus that another already cleared out for themselves, then just dominated the whole board.
32 troops per turn is absolutely insane. Anybody that gets to that point in a game of Risk is damn near unstoppable if they've got a point holds to protect it all.

It would’ve cost a lot of troops to break their big stack in Central Europe and he would either have to defend all of the stuff in Russia and Scandinavia, which would also take a lot of troops, or leave the land open for magenta to conquer and get the bonuses.
