- In August 2023 I hosted a giveaway on Instagram, which was designed to offer one artist the opportunity to collaborate with me on a one-of-a-kind artist book. Because of my busy schedule, I often have to turn down collaboration requests, so this giveaway felt like the perfect way to open up a special opportunity.
The winner of the giveaways was Heather Keller, an incredibly talented painter! Heather and I decided that the book would explore the theme of hand-making and draw inspiration from ancient crafts, showcasing the power and beauty of handmade art.
The process was both creative and collaborative. Heather and I exchanged packs of leftovers and scraps from our own studios. I sent her my cherished vintage ephemera and photos, while she sent me her beautifully hand-painted fabrics and fragments of her paintings. We then each created three pages, responding to the materials we received from each other. The final result is a cohesive, concertina-bound book that blends techniques like weaving and stitching, embodying the essence of craft as artistry.
I am incredibly proud of what we’ve created together. Heather’s artistic vision and our combined efforts have truly brought "These Hands" to life.
