Haven't watched enough Maruyama matches, but his tukui waza is clearly uchi-mata, His opponents must know this, but they cannot stop it, so that says a lot right there. 😎.
My favorite is Abe's sode vs. Puliayev at the 2017 World finals, and I hope he wins. Maruyama is really traditional, but Abe can perform many different techniques and you never know which one to expect; of course, his favorite is the sode, but he has some of the strongest hip rotation in the sport for uke-goshi.
I think now it should be abe because hes had a bit longer of a run as the world beater 2017 and 2018 maruyama came on a bit later. I think also abe has more diversity in his technique and a bit more grit to win when he really needs to (Osaka 2019). Its so hard because maruyama is super amazing too. Both capable of that gold and honestly I wish for the tokyo olympics the home of judo, qualification should allow one category for the men and women to have two repsentitves. Canda too could double in 57kg. Amazing video
The problem is Abe has lost to other people outside of Maruyama recently but Maruyama has lost only to Abe and has won 3 out of 2 of their battles. It’s so close though!
Abe, who won Maruyama, would be a nightmare for players of the same rank in the world. Both Maruyama and Abe were by far the strongest in the -66kg class, but Abe, who controlled Maruyama, went up one step further. Can players from other countries win the Abe at the Olympics?
Maruyamas techniques are so much more cleaner/exciting. The current world champion and above Abe in the world rankings not getting selected automatically is a travesty. It was all fixed for the poster boy to go to the olympics. Abe is beatable by,the Europeans, especially Lombardo and my opinion is that Maruyamas career, being one of if not the most exciting judoka in the world just now, is effectively over.
It’s a great shame that one of the two undeniably best judokas in the world in -66kg won’t even be able to go to the olympics in the birth place of judo.
@@Galactus99 aa yes it is.The world championships is more difficult than the olympics because of this stupid rule that only one competitor can come per category. And if Maruyama and Abe are destroying everybody else in the category they should obviously BOTH come. But they can’t and that’s why the quality of the olympics will be lower.
@@Galactus99 except the other disciplines does not follow 1 participant per country Olympic rule. In many established athletic disciplines you can have more than 1 participant from given country. It is kind of sad that judo is different.

丸山=technique
Ну вообще у обоих сила и техника на высоком уровне, но да, абе очень силен физически, а стиль маруямы неповторим
Maruyama the king of uchi mata 👍
My favourite Ippon by Maruyama is definitely his Uchi Mata against Vieru in the masters.
For me it’s probably some of the ones in the training highlights. He has some ridiculous step entries.

Great video, subbed because of it. Looking forward to the fight - Maruyama will take it, I believe!
Thank you!

Yeah I can see where you’re coming from. But Maruyama for me!
Hi,
I believe Abe is doing more like an eri seio nage than a taiotoshi at 7:01, great of course.
Thanks for your content!
I think I’d call it a seoi otoshi these days
Uchi mata perfect

I agree with a lot of what you just said, but I hope Maruyama goes for his own little achievement - 3 or 4x world champion for example?
A like for every uchi mata in this video
excellent 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏🌹🌹🌹🙏🙏🙏🙏💙💙💙💙👑

It is sad. Probably has to do with the sheer number of participants in the sport.
Still, Maruyama-Abe is the final we all would've liked to have seen.
