I can't even explain to you how inspiring your videos are. I don't know if you read old comments. I used to find your videos exhausting but I kept watching... Now I have such beautiful garden😃🌷🌼🌻 I've learned so much about plants and WORK ETHIC that I'm starting to take my knowledge (I gained from you) to other people I love, who want beautiful yards too. I used to think it was impossible for "regular folks" to have beautiful flower beds, but you've shown me that anything is possible‼THANK YOU! Don't stop.
We do read comments Scully, and this is one we will share with Laura and Aaron. So inspiring, thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts, and gardening adventures with us this morning!
You always give me inspiration! I had two minor strokes after thanksgiving last year but I’m doing well! Running a little late with my gardening chores but I did get some dinner plate dahlias in the soil this week. Keep up the good work! THERE IS NOTHING LIKE GARDENING! God bless!
I’m 44 years young and I just now trying to learn the basics I’m order to give my neglected yard a facelift.. this video is just the easiest and beginner friendly diy
I seriously love the choice of plants in this video! I may have to copy this! Thank you so much for sharing I'm a beginner which is why I would try to copy this one. Its gorgeous!
I love the hostas. I inherited some on our farm but did not know the name (and did not bring any when we moved 🙄). They are so big and the foliage has a blue green shade. Lovely!! Oh Now I need more shade. Lol - stop inspiring us 😜🌺
I'm surprised that she puts the plants in the hole straight from the pot, without loosening up the root ball! So glad that she shows some zone 8 plants!
I was just at the garden centre here in Sherwood park Alberta just talking about you Laura! Saying I wish I learn a lot from you and wishing you were beside me cause I didn’t remember everything you have talked about heh
Check with your local garden center to see what they recommend, they will know the exact type of pest you are concerned with, and will have a product that can help.
What is full shade One side of my 2 storey house has full sun from morning till evening. Is that full sun? One side is hid from the sun from morning till evening. Is that full shade or low light or indirect sunlight? I have carport in the middle of my yard, it casts shade all day, I can still see and read under it when I lie down there out of sun. Is that full shade indirect sunlight or? I have a windowless fibro shed, I can still clearly see my way round in the daytime. Is that fullshade low light or indirect sunlight?
This article should help, full sun means direct sun hitting the plant, not filtered through a shade or other covering, www.provenwinners.com/learn/finding-right-plant/what-does-full-sun-or-part-shade-mean
Those trout lilies look to be invasive! I live in the Gulf Coast near Mobile! Moved here a year ago. I have a “blank slate” shaded back yard to work with! Anxious to get started. Thanks for responding!
Hi Laura, I got a question please. How many stems of boxwood you planted in that white pot behind you? I remember you just move that plant there last year. Thanks!
Proven Winners You might try broken up egg shells which cut up the slugs and cups of small amounts of beer. Put the cup at ground level and empty the cups daily of the slugs.
Plantskydd is a wonderful spray to use, spray at each sign of new growth...often in spring. I have had wonderful success with this personally--is not a Proven Winners product.
The plants with similar colors with soil in your videos such as red and deep purple can barely been seen. Alone is a good choice but not with your soil color.

+Kevin Glad you are doing well and are able to garden. There is nothing like gardening; you are so right.
amazing video, very good friend, keep it up, good luck always
I love digging up plants and moving them around!
Wow, you got the good stuff to plant. Already gorgeous and don't have to wait for the glory.

I love this! Hostas are quickly becoming one of my favorite shade plants. Especially the HUGE ones

Videos by Laura should be playing at garden centers especially Home Depot 🌺🌼🌻
Some garden centers do stream her videos on screens, it is up to each store if they want to do that.
@@ProvenWinnersTH-cam that is cool!! I made the suggestion to Home Depot, online and to the local manager. I'll keep suggesting
Hostas are so beautiful, love the round shape! Great color cambo!💜🌱💜
This combination can easily be repeated over and over with different types of hostas or heucheras. Love it.
Your property is so beautiful.

This is the same combination of plants I am working on. Thanks
Love it!

Lovely!
I love it! I’m totally copying this in my shady corner spot!
Love the contrast!!
Appreciate when planting flowers tell us what zones the plants will grow in best .
Laura typically does, but you can also search for the plant on our website to learn more about each variety. Thanks for watching.
So what is it that sprinkle you put in the hole before placing the plant?
+Maria Garcial It was probably a starter fertilizer to help with plants that are being transplanted.
Would love to see an update. What you done is so pretty
What do you do about the tree roots when teying to dig holes ubder trees?
It is fine to interrupt the thinner roots with a spade in order to create the size hole you need. Larger roots you will be better off working around.
Great info as usual.
What do put before transplanting the plants? I saw you putting a powdery like substance before putting the plants in the soil.
That is Proven Winners slow release plant food.
It’s Bio-Tone starter, a starter fertilizer.
What was the powder you put into your holes before planting the Hostas? Thank you.
How do you save them from snails and slags? Thank you x

What are the small flowers to the left called?
Those are called Trout Lilies!
Those trout lilies look to be invasive! I live in the Gulf Coast near Mobile! Moved here a year ago. I have a “blank slate” shaded back yard to work with! Anxious to get started. Thanks for responding!

How long does it take to get the Wu Hosta that large? How old are the ones you dug up?
What powder did you add to each hole prior to adding the hosta please?
A slow release plant food to help get the roots started growing well.
Thanks 🙏 for responding
What powder are you putting in the ground before planting the hostas?
It is a slow release plant food.
That would have been a great Lilly of the valley site .
With the hosta, do I need to cut back if i'm in zone 9?
Not necessarily, just see how it does, and you might lose some leaves during your 'winter' but then it will rally later.
Beautiful. I actually have a shade garden bed. And these are beautiful. Should I add snail bait around the hostas?
You might ask at a local garden center if they recommend that. We try our best to develop hostas with thick leaves that are slug and snail resistant.
Proven Winners You might try broken up egg shells which cut up the slugs and cups of small amounts of beer. Put the cup at ground level and empty the cups daily of the slugs.
I can’t plant mature plants by my trees because of their extensive root system
So trees do have larger root systems than others. For you ground covers such as vinca would possibly work.
❤️❤️❤️
Deer have eaten all of my Hostas. How do I stop them from doing that?
Plantskydd is a wonderful spray to use, spray at each sign of new growth...often in spring. I have had wonderful success with this personally--is not a Proven Winners product.

Hookra?
Are you asking about the plants? The darker plant is a Heuchera, Mahogany Monster.
+Bonnie It can sound like "hookra," but it's spelled "Heuchera." The more common ones area deeper red/brown. This one is a little different.
Hostas...especially the Wu.....are the ugliest things I've ever seen.
