  • Have you ever felt like there was something missing from your characters? You notice they lack dimension. For some reason, they don't feel like real people. You’ve wondered how you can bring them to life, but what’s missing?
The answer may lie in the beliefs of your character - more specifically, their misbelief. Understanding the misbelief of your protagonist is fundamental in making your story work. Most writers overlook this element of character-building when crafting their stories. Your character’s misbelief is also referred to as the lie they tell themselves. This is the central belief they have that is holding them back. A lie they believe due to events in their past. Your story will aim to challenge this belief. In this video, we'll explore how to find your character’s misbelief.

Why is this like verbatim what Abbie Emmons said in her video about finding the characters misbelief?

That's what I also thought, but honestly, she's the best guide I ever watched ❤

This was really useful and helped me clarify some really vital things going on with some characters I’m trying to better understand before I write their story.

Thanks for posting. These types of videos are very helpful to me. Hey, the camera switching is disruptive because we are listening to you and reading on the screen and then have to process that camera angle switch. Looking head on at us works just fine. Look forward to more videos!

Talks about not sounding like a real person, then talks like a robot. Not only that but the typo in your thumbnail leaves me with zero confidence anything you have to say would be worthwhile.
