I disagree. I have the 2018 Fatboy, and I love it. I do not have problems with handling like you do. And, the front tire is a 160, not a 130.

I bought a new 114 fatboy and after my first run out I thought "Oh no, what have I done, this is dangerous" After a few more miles under the belt you learn how to bully the bike around bends and although it goes against your natural instinct and a new way of riding the twisty bits it actually becomes a whole lot lot of fun. Now I absolutely love it.

I am a first time rider, at 46 years old. Never ever rode a motorcycle before. I just bought a Fat Boy 2 weeks ago (May 2020). It was tremendously scary to do U turn / round about, but now, after 15 days of having it, I kinda got used to it. Feels OK to turn anywhere, although as a noobie, I am still insecure on those 90 degrees turns in the city. The learning curve is immensely impressive!! Loving it.

When I test rode a 2018 FatBoy I was really surprised at how well it handled. An off-camber right or left turn, especially up hill, was a delight. I felt the bike shift from the center portion of the rear tire onto it’s broad shoulder and I could feel how that section was softer and grippier. That section really inspired confidence in a corner. I really enjoyed it. Props to Harley for a great design.

I apologize for being helpful in advance, I’m only a bone cancer survivor who was given 12-14 months to live and had to self help myself out of the grave but what do I know..?
Wheat Grass fresh frozen from Dynamic Greens, ketogenic diet from Dr Box on TH-cam, extremely gentle exercise and deep calm breathing (sets of that 3x a day), sub conscious healings via hypnosis or prayer work focusing upon okayness / worthiness with moving forward in happiness as well as forgiveness towards things that have wronged you or bother you, suanas 5x a week, organic foods, and time in nature just sitting, napping or reading books... obviously massage, dancing and fun liberates positive personal psychology which augments internal chemistry however I’m unqualified to say any of this cus I only lived it and am doing great 15 years now plus...

This is the first review I've seen that says the fat boy is hard to turn. It is expected to be more stable with basically 2 Rear sized tires on it. Fat tires are more stable, but this is the first one to say it's hard to turn.
I've heard other's say the bike is surprisingly nimble.

    • @gman913
      @gman913 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

Obvious you have very little experience with motorcycles. Turn in is effected by wider tires and a Fat boy would never be considered a nimble bike unless maybe you are comparing it to a steamroller.

Great looking bike. Really, really like what Harley did to update it but stay true to the FatBoy heritage. Solid review, as usual. I’ve seen other reviews that describe the handling much as you have. Has a lot to do with the 240 section rear tire. Ground clearance is reported to be better, and the new Milwaukee 8 is the star of the show. Keep up the great work!

There's no need to knock the guy for his feelings about the handling! He's rating it for how the bike turns itself which is one way of looking at it - it's a subjective thing. Obviously a lot of cruiser fans think the added countersteering makes for a more engaging, fun ride. So there you have it. Big deal!

If you loose your FOB you just need to bring your bike into the Harley-Davidson Dealer and they connect the bike to a computer and they read your Code that you used? This is what I have been told. Is this correct? And a key can be cut based on the VIN number and proof ownership, is this correct also?

  • @vannmann9597

I disagree with this bike needing dual disc up front, along with the "bad handling". The first thing I was totally impressed with when driving this bike was how fast it accelerated, and how fast you could stop it. I was very impressed with the breaking. Especially with having only one front rotor. This bike stops better than by Fat Bob which has dual discs up front. The cornering was not bad at all, although I have only driven the new Fat Boy once. The 114 Fat Boy is my new favorite bike, and will be looking to get into a used one at some point soon.

Motonewbrider - given your 70kg.154lb weight you are about as light as can be, which in motorcycles is a huge advantage. Do you think you may consider filming and recording 0-100kph/0-60mph acceleration, quarter mile acceleration times as well as top speed? Seeing as you're so light you'd be able to get the best numbers compared to many heavier reviewers.

Do not understand the 240 tire with this model, since the Breakout is still in production. The previous Fat Boy was 200 if I remember well. True story double front disc brakes is 90% heat dissipation, 10% brake improvement. If you have a single four piston caliper it is a lot better then for example a twin with two piston calipers. The rear brakes are not so good in the new bikes, versus the old ones. Forward brakes have improved a lot over the old ones.

The sun feels really bright because all the ice crystals in air make the light to retract quite a bit. Wear polarized sunglasses

Yea the fat boy is, in my opinion, is the most imposing looking harley davidson. Especially in the soft tail range. Those front wheels are why the front end is so heavy probably. I mean look at those wheels

That big tire on the rear seems to really hurt the handling of this bike. I like the 180 back tire better. Thanks for the review Ride safe!

I don't think the exaust is oem. The inside on the end caps are black while the oem are chrome/polished.
It doesn't sound like mine which is still standard after 1 month of ownership. I notice that sometimes other drivers don't know I am close by. Looking for some descent sounding slip ons now. If these are Screaming Eagles I could decide for these.
    As always nice video.

I'm on the market for either a 114 Fatboy or Breakout,I have rode both and just can't make my mind up. I have loved the Fatboy since I saw it but I love the riding position of the Breakout,I feel like you sit in the Breakout rather than on it like the Fatboy. Neither bike handle's great but as far as im concerned that's part of the character of the bike. I really don't know which bike to choose,I might just have to flip a coin I'm struggling that much....

I wonder if the rider in this video understands the concept of pushing the handlebar in the opposite direction he wants to turn? Pressure on the handgrip as opposed to leaning into the turn. It's useful for big heavy bikes.

Jappy? Some Japanese bike do over exagurate the design sometimes, but it is mostly plastic. The HD is steel, not even aluminium. The design of the head light fits to the whole design. I like it very much. Reason why I got one.
I also like the "old" design but I just can't afford 2 Harley Davidsons. Why should you even go racerlike around a roundabout with a Harley?

Stop pressing the brake in the corner, you are making the bike stand up

Tire are too big for tight turns, specially in European narrow tighter roads... Probably an exception in USA cause we have wider roads and more of a long sweeping corners...
