On the 13th of August, 2024, just before Independence Day, I received my German visa and will be traveling soon. While listening to this and crying like a child, I can't help but think of what we've done to our beloved Pakistan. Thousands are leaving, and millions more dream of escaping the moment they get the chance. So many questions run through my mind: Do we deserve this? Why are we in this state? When will it end? Will we ever witness Pakistan prosper? Though despair looms, "Na umeedi kufr hai" (despair is disbelief). I hold onto the hope that one day, "Jo dur gaye thay bhoolay se, lautain gay phir Watan ko ik shaam" . Pakistan Zindabad!

This song is apt for all developing nations - where politicians and bureaucrats are still looting the country in the same of 'service to the nation'. Hum bhi dekhenge...or atleast wish to see the change..when the price of human life is more than what its now!! Now being an overseas Pakistani, sitting far away from my Motherland, weeping while listening to it and imagining how worse the condition of Pakistan has become and how much we all want to see it getting better. This song is just something else! I used to listen to this song being a teenager and really liked it but never really understood how deep meaning it has. Now being an overseas Pakistani, sitting far away from my Motherland, weeping while listening to it and imagining how worse the condition of Pakistan has become and how much we all want to see it getting better. Wishing it never had gotten into this condition where people like me had to force to ourselves to leave our beloved family and homeland just in search of a better and safer life.
