My first impression was that this was a variation of the "let''s put on a show" movie that was so popular about eighty years ago--1930s/1940s. But the more I have researched it (I intended to use it for a class), the more I have found that the making of it was a complex and darned risky undertaking. Almost all the band had either no background or little background. And,, in twelve weeks, they became passable. Then they had three months of fairly intense training--while acting. I have seen "outtakes" of early efforts. They came a long way! My hat's off to the actresses and to one insane producer.
I wish when the girls were talking, there had been English subtitles, because it would have been fun to know what they were talking about. The movie "Swing Girls" is a great teaching tool because students would really understand the value of hard work … and, the rewards of hard work.
Born in '50 but was fourth of 5. We were all raised on this music! Of course, Dad was A WWII vet and fought in the Pacific theater. Funny to think how much things have changed since then. These two cultures were trying to eliminate each other 75 years ago. Now they're celebrating the American music of the time. Nice job ladies!
Loved the movie, loved the concert. I can pick up a few words here and there, if its a slow enough. But with how fast they are speaking its very difficult for me..lol But I'll get it.
I had read that to promote the movie, the actors did tours in the U.S. and Japan. However, all my resources have informed that they have never seen them perform in the U.S. and the movie has not even been seen in the U.S. either. All that I can find about them is here on TH-cam.
They did a much better performance in the movie than in these concerts. If one notices, they lost one of the trombone players, and I believe it was the one who wore glasses in the movie. Several years ago they had a DVD version of these that had English sub-titles and they stopped making it for some reason, wish they would bring it back.
One trombone player is missing here, if you watched the movie , which I did & have the Blu -ray movie, which I have, you would have noticed that the trombone player that wore glasses is missing here.
Whoa, big mistake in the credits - REALLY BIG MISTAKE! "In The Mood" was NOT written by Dave Brubeck, but Joe Garland (music) and Andy Razaf (lyrics). They play it a bit slow, but much better than the average big band in the US. Not as tight as Glen Miller, who is :-)

Language barrier, but it is a fantastic , pleasure just as listening to the Glen Miller band

Where are the Swing Girls now ; they are amazing
I love the Swing Girls
Quelle bonne surprise, bravo les filles !
The two ladies who took Clyde Hurley's trumpet solo did a fine job.
A LITTLE sloppy compared to the movie performance, but STILL pretty amazing. God bless 'em!!!!
live performance jitters prolly, but yes, they were remarkable.

They were awesome, and one lucky guy on the key board.
Fantastic!!
Remarkable Musicians.
I wonder if anyone noticed that the original Trombone player is not featured in any of these, and the Trumpet player cannot hit the high notes.
She had another commitment and couldn't appear.
