It’s wonderful to see such an excited horse. I’m no expert, but it looks to me like you can see a few times where the rider is keeping the horse at a slightly slower pace when the horse is clearly wanting to go full tilt at the course.
Somebody tell me! Why is this event called 'derby'? (Also Hickstead Derby!) Derby is a name of horse racing, isn't it? For example Epsom Derby, Kentucky Derby, and Tokyo Derby... Where did this name come from?
Can you imagine the strain on the horse's knees and joints to overcome all these obstacles with a rider on his back? People should stop using animals in sport... it's disgusting.
